    * Diabetic heaven and hell *

This 50's styled candy and chocolate shoppe has a lot of character.  The classic booths and counter stools in the ice cream scoop area (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) have nice clean lines reminiscent of a 1950's stereotype complete with checkered floor.

There are a wide variety of items which would put a diabetic into a rather hellish position:

    - Hand dipped ice cream in the scoop area to enjoy either in a booth, at the counter, or on the road.

    - A wide selection of handmade chocolates made with Belgium chocolate in the open chocolate kitchen.  We sampled the raspberry truffle and the cherry blossom truffle.  They were both nice and creamy in a hard shell with strong flavour.  I preferred the raspberry as it tasted like real raspberries.  The cherry blossom truffle tasted more like cherry flavour than the classic cherry blossom flavour you'd find in sweets from Japan in the Spring.  Photos:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz... and http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    - A large selection of salt water taffy presented nicely in buckets to let you pick and choose:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    - A bunch of smaller candy jars filled with everything from jelly beans to licorice:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    - A housemade caramel corn which had a very pleasant vanilla and butter flavour mixed with the saltiness of peanuts.  We really enjoyed this stuff and took a bag home:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

The good news if you don't want to go to diabetic hell is that they also have a large selection of sugar free housemade chocolates too!  So there is a little bit of diabetic heaven.

The new owner is very friendly and quite chatty about all the products.  We wish him well!
