I love this salon. I followed my hair stylist when she moved to Jay Wells and despite the price hike I'm so happy I did. Lisa Myers is more than a hair cutter. She's a master stylist and colourist. I always feel pretty when I leave.
I've also had my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted at this salon and the esthetician is very gentle and explains everything that she is doing.
The stylists genuinely seem to be having a good time. I love going to get pampered here!
and a shout out to Sean the salon manager. He's awesome! -

I'm completely paranoid of getting a bad hair cut.
All I can say is that I'm glad I went to Jay Wells. Although the hair cut was a bit different then I expected (I asked for more wispy bangs and mine are pretty blunt), I absolutely LOVE my new hair cut.
Jay Wells Salon has an amazing atmosphere that is probably best described as industrial chic. The decor is amazing, they play modern, fun music and the people there are all really nice. Any hair cut (excluding dye jobs) cost $57.50 excluding tip, which to be honest, being from Toronto doesn't seem that bad to me.
My only critique is that the hairdresser that I had, although absolutely talented, took almost 2 hours to cut my hair (which was the longest by far that any other stylist there took).
Anyway, if I'm going to get another haircut here in Halifax, it will definitely be here, just next time I'll make sure I have a free two hours to be there. -

Jay Wells came recommended by a few friends, and in the recent quest for a trim of the tresses, I booked an appointment and made it official.
The sweet and stylish staff were vibrant as a whole. The entire salon vavoomed with instant energy that spoke of well-to-do professionalism. With definite attention to aesthetic charm, the interiors were well placed in the realms of modern-chic. The lofty upper level is tucked away location, but once you're there, it sure does impress.
Just a trim for today, my hairdresser was a doll. Giving me the full pamper sesh, I was relaxed and unwound into a total therapeutic experience. There was no forced and phoney conversation present-- everything just flowed. And with a few inches off the hair and the mind as well, this can only be a good thing.
I was a little startled to be charged over $50 for a wee trim, but perhaps this is the going rate these days? It was the full experience, and with a supreme blow-out, although I may just be sure I've got a few extra dollars in the back before I head back.
Wonderful spot with a real vibrance... and expertise to match. -

Wow , my good friend Jay runs one of the coolest places in the city. He started back on Sackville St in a tiny historic loft space about 650 square feet...he ended up expanding that location to double the size on a second floor. Jay has moved to an expansive, 2500+ square foot 3rd floor loft right around the corner on barrington St. He and his team are fun, talented, and make you feel very welcome. Sometimes they even bake cookies when you are there. Yum. The space is so cool with windows in front and back...the treatmen rooms are also incredible.
