2 reviews for Japanese Restaurant Yukiguni
All Reviews
We gathered that this was a new restaurant by the way one of the customers came in and talked with the new people working there, but staying just across the way at the Doubletree, we thought we'd give this Japanese restaurant a try.
At first glance, the joint was simply decorated. We ordered Teriyaki Salmon and Matsu Sushi plate. Miso soup and salad came with our dishes.
There weren't a lot of customers on the night, being Monday and all. The waitress was very friendly, and the food came on a timely basis. The Salmon was made excellently with the skin on. For the price of the Sushi plate ($17 CAD), there weren't as many sushi pieces as I had hoped. We saw another table of six ordering several Nabeyaki Udons that looked pretty good, so we will try that next time if we return.
One word of caution though, they charge for hot tea, which we were not expecting. Maybe it's because we came from the Bay Area in California, where restaurants don't generally charge for that kind of stuff.
In the end, we did enjoy our meal, dispite not having found any reviews here on Yelp. We're glad to have given Yukiguni its first of many positive notes.
Just going to be real with you guys, the fresh fish was previously frozen. . .quit lying. As for everything else we ordered, it was great. The kids had fun and loved their chicken, rice, miso soup and edamame. I had a house salad which was excellent and our sushi rolls that were fried, and or cooked were great. The sea urchin on the other hand was disgusting. I know it's the off season, but it's not that difficult to have decent tasting sushi.
