Review from Jaci S.
We just had our family vacation here - in the cottage - a full size house next door to the hotel. Two bedrooms with 2 pullout sofas - perfect for a family - and well within walking distance to groceries, pharmacy and most of all the downtown attractions (and I HATE to walk).....would highly recommend this for a great quiet (very comfortable beds) stay in Victoria.

Definitely a nice quaint inn. Its a classic inn, nothing fancy, but met my needs for a short stay. Staff were friendly, room was clean. kind of leaned a little bit i think. the restaurant and bar on the basement area, was good and very friendly people. very neighborhood feel. i'd go there again.

This quiet hotel is located a few blocks from the bustle of the tourist area, yet is within easy walking distance. It has great staff, who practically gleam, they are so competent and helpful. Our room was basic and clean, with a comfortable bed.
This is an older hotel and doesn't have an elevator, so you need to port your luggage up the stairs. Its age also flaunts itself in the showers. About every minute or so during my showers, the temperature of the water fluctuated from pleasant to either scalding or glacial. I'm not sure the neighbors enjoyed my howls of anguish. -

My family stayed here on a visit. We rented the cottage next door and it's a fantastic deal. It's a two bedroom house with gorgeous hardwood floor. There is a full kitchen, with microwave, stove and all the utensils you need. It is located 5 minute walk from the harbor. Just a couple blocks from the grocery store. A very quiet neighborhood. There are a couple sofabeds, so perfect for a family. I can't speak to the main hotel, but the cottage is really the way to go. I do have to say, the shower could use some work with water pressure, other than that, this is the perfect place to stay! Quiet, close to stuff and comfortable. Could almost tempt me to move to Victoria.

Review from Kevyn J.
My friend and I stayed a night in the James Bay Inn. The room was very nice and quite comfortable, though it smelled strongly of fresh paint. The horse drawn carriages clip-clop past on the quiet residential street, which lends a wonderful old-time atmosphere to the place when you leave the windows open. The Inn is only a short walk from the Parliament building and many tourist areas. Unfortunately, there is no elevator on premises, so you will have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the front desk, and then up more flights if you're above the first floor. The pub on the ground floor serves pretty decent food, and the staff is quite helpful.
