You know what we love about this place? The people! They're so nice! They're always smiling and happy and nice to their customers.
The pizza is just fine, and the eggplant sub is super duper. I mean, you know, it's pizza shop food, well done, tasty.
But the real reason to come here, as opposed to other pizza shops on Center Street, are the owners. The place has a lovely vibe. -

They are so friendly and I LOVE the calzones. I have never had a calzone quite like this- so cheesy and delicious! The pizza was ok but once we discovered the calzone, there is no going back. This has got to be the best, most flavorful food to go in JP.
Everyone I've spoken with here is as nice as can be and the delivery is always right on time.
Can't beat the price for a slice if you are walking down the street and feeling peckish. I try not to go too often because it's a little greasy b -

I simply LOVE their sausage and mushroom pizza. Love it! I can't even seem to order anything else.
(I sometimes also get the fried mushrooms ;) Great too. Greasy, but what do you expect.
This place is sweet. The family owners are so, so, so nice too. Best pizza in JP hands down and some of my favorite in the entire city... -

My boyfriend and I have ate here a few times....
Great prices and the owners are really friendly! This is the cheapest restaurant you'll find on the street (unless you count Dunkin Donuts). The pizza is really yummy too! -

I give the pizza 3.5 stars.
But, consider the business as a whole and this place gets 5. So, at my last job, on Saturdays, the boss bought lunch. This was our "go to" place. When I found out that their cheese slices were $1.50 I started going when I needed a snack.
But you don't know what you've got till it's gone. While JPHOP was on vacation we scrambled to find a pizza place to match up to it for out lunches. Of all the JP spots (Same Old, Primo Brothers, Real Deal) none came close to the bang per buck of JPHOP. We have big orders and it became obvious that this place is cheapest, not counting the free stuff they often gave us. My co-workers also didn't really enjoy the food as much anywhere else.
Plus family owned and operated.
Based on just quality of pizza alone, Primo Brothers down South St. gets my vote. -

Best pizza in the area. Crust was light and crisp. Not doughy and chewy like every pizza in Boston. Not sure why everyone likes chewy pizza, but it seems to be the norm.
Also had the fried mushrooms. Awesome! Perfect crunchy bread coating. Portion was huge! -

I'm kind of a pizza addict, and finding great pizza in Boston has been a challenge because everyone here LOVES (and therefore recommends places with) thin crust pizza.
...except me. In my opinion, crust is the whole point of pizza, so the thicker and doughier, the better. JP HOP makes greek style pizza, so it's not exactly deep dish, but it is thicker, which I appreciate. They also use TONS of cheese. The sauce isn't as sweet as I usually like it, but it's good.
The icing on the cake was that I got a small pizza (a little bit bigger than will comfortably count as 'personal sized) and a bottle of soda for $7.16, which is pretty good for yummy pizza around here.
JP House Of Pizza, you've restored my hope in Boston pizza! -

Yes, it's not haute cuisine. But there is no way I can give JP HOP, our go-to take-out pizza joint, anything other than five stars.
The pizza is the best hole-in-the-wall pizza we've found in JP, and it's really, really good hole-in-the-wall pizza. The wings are also good. I love, love, love the gyros. And I adore the owner and his wife--seriously the nicest people ever. I'm fiercely loyal to JP HOP, and when it was closed one day this summer I was so sad to have to get my pizza elsewhere. If you live in JP, make this your go-to pizza, too. -

JPHOP-Why not?
I'm a SOP and a Read Deal, even a Zestos girl, but also I'm a convenience girl. JHOP had later delivery than the Real Deal so they got my biz. Snob alert-what really compares to my Nyc home slices? Ernestos perhaps?
HOP is not really conducive to hanging, so get it delivered and tip the guy a few beans!
We ordered the Hawaiian because we like our meat we fruit and we be freaky like that. My momma thinks it's gross but she doesn't understand. It actually tasted like it was missing something, like greens, but it did the deed, even for breakfast the next day.
Get the Greek pizza in the Greek Place for cry-eye. Go with what they are good at-it's real good! I learned that Greek pizza is different than Italian pizza because it is made by Greeks. Also, Italians use brick ovens, and Greeks use thinner crust and thinner sauce. Another topping, the vegetable pizza here has every vegetable imaginable on it!
Non- sequitur: My neighbor has been in the middle of constructing a outdoor pizza oven for a half a year now. Come on Nate-on with the show! Lol! JP backyard of pizza.
JPHOP-Better than ok. When in Greece do as the Grecians do! -

Finding good pizza in Jamaica Plain has been difficult. Finally, I'm happy to find this no-frills place which has good basic pizza. Not too greasy, just the right amount of crunch, and great for on-the-go food or for takeout and delivery. Reasonable prices, and nice and kind people that work there.
Don't expect any beautiful decor, it's just your run-of-the-mill hole in the wall type decor, so don't bring your date there, but if you're looking for a quick snack on the go, or a good basic pizza for a resonable price, stop here for a slice. I've tried many of the other pizza places in JP and haven't found one that tops this one. Let me know if you do please! -
Review from Katie W.
New York, NY
I was apprehensive about trying pizza in JP. All of the other places I had tried put the plain in Jamaica Plain. But not this place!
We called for delivery and within no time a small cheese and pineapple ham was there for feasting. Oh and what a feasting it was upon the beauteous bounty of cheese, perfect crust ,and just right amount of toppings. ahhh. Didn't plan on eating the whole thing but ended up scarfing it all. oof.
Update: I ordered from here again and have to say: Jamaica Plain House of Pizza? more like Jamaica Plain House of Inconsistency. It was like a pizza made from a different place! There were barely any toppings or cheese on the tomato basil (basil which was dried herbs not fresh leaves) and the crust was different too! I'll give them another try but jeesh - hope they aren't so stingy next time.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Great pizza, great price. For a 3-topping pizza we paid just upwards of $12 and it was delicious (sausage, spinach, and black olives). The spinach was frozen, but generously portioned. The sausage was sliced thin (I actually prefer it this way) and not greasy. The crust of the pizza was buttery and both soft and crunchy (reminded me of Chicago pizza-style taste -- but NOT deep dish).
When the alternative was the same pizza for $16 at Real Deal or $20 at Bella Luna this was a no-brainer. It's not gourmet. It's probably not organic. But it was tasty and filling.
I want to come back for subs and gyros. It definitely has a Greek-flair to the place, as evidenced not only by the 3 greek signature pizzas (not just one -- three!!) but also by the accent of the guy behind the counter. Order, pick it up, and take it home to enjoy with your favorite cab. -

I moved to MA from PA at the end of June, and despite having been to the Boston area numerous times over the past year+, I had never came to JP - and now I live here. JP House of Pizza was the first place I ate at upon moving here, as I didn't have anything to make for myself.
I am a bit of a pizza snob, and like my pies a certain way - and the staff at JPHoP did not disappoint. For now, I have only tried their pizza, but will be branching out into more of their menu as the weeks go by.
Their service is always polite and fast, and their food (what I've had so far) is always extremely tasty for a decent price. For a girl who loves her pizza but is on a budget, I'm happy to have a place like JPHoP a few blocks away.
On a side note: I am of Greek heritage - and having just visited their website, I cannot dislike this place - it would be a sacrilege to do so! Owned and operated by a Greek family :) -
Review from Kristina M.
Went for the first time yesterday and was quite happy with the experience. This is not going to be my favorite pizza-place (and definitely only suited for take-out - the interior is just too depressing), but if you're on the run or feel lazy and want a quick and satisfying meal - go here.
Pizzas are huge (we shared a large plus a side-order of french fries, but couldn't finish the pizza), the crust is great and the topping - well, yeah, it's a little greasy and what-not (definitely not a health-food place this one!), but other than that it's pretty good (I wouldn't say great).
Yes, I admit it, I just LOVE junk-food (at least once-in-a-while).
And the staff really is very nice. So don't be afraid - give it a try! -

So...I currently live in literal spitting distance of this place (and have for about 6 months). Right next door is a cheap chinese take-out joint....I ADORE horrible and cheap chinese take-out, but I have never even tried the chinese place. And that is probably the strongest recommendation I can give you for JP House of Pizza.
Once I had their food, and especially dealt with their always-smiling-and-friendly-and-awesome staff, I could not bring myself to pass them by in order to try the temptingly cheap and greasy chinese food right next door, however much I wanted to! I will leave my house dreaming of egg rolls and crab rangoon, but as soon as I see JP House of Pizza..I'm drawn inside.
I recommend any of their subs, especially the Italian. Get the large, it's big enough for two meals and will only cost you $2 more. I've never had bad pizza here, it's far better than the other pizza places on Centre St. Delicious and freshly made (you will never get nasty lukewarm pizza here, never!).
So it's great. I miss the booths, though. They recently removed them, which is cool, but I miss them! It was cozier to sit and eat (or wait for your food) with a booth.
I can't say enough about the staff. Once, I walked in just as they were closing (and I even got that melty-snow sludge all over their newly washed floor), and they couldn't have been nicer and were more than happy to make me a sandwich anyway.
Is it high end cuisine? Heck no. But it's yummy and fast and fresh, and given to you with a smile. Me likey. -

I really like this place for a few different reasons:
1. The owner and his wife are always there, always recognize me (I'm local) and are always super friendly!
2. The food is fast, good and cheap. If you want Gourmet , go else where..if you want some good, cheap pizza/subs/burgers..this is the way togo.
3. HAVE YOU EVER HAD THEIR SPINACH ROLLS?!?!?! They are phenomenal, I mean WHOAAAA, I love them :)
4. No matter where you live in JP, they are fairly close (pretty central, closer to my end of things by FH though) and they deliver for no charge
5. Well, I have never really had any bad experiences/complaints...so I'm all about this place!Listed in: The JP/Brookline area :)

I'm really into JP-Hop these days. I dunno what it is, but whenever I'm hungover, pre-menstrual, feeling lazy or too tired to cook and head towards that black hole of a drawer full o' menus in the kitchen, I've found myself grabbing this one the most lately. They have insanely fast delivery time, for one thing. For another, they're cheaper than Same Old Place. Also, I really like their crust. It's kinda crispy, but not too crispy. The pizza's just... good. It didn't used to be all that good to me, but now I like it tons.
I dunno what it is. I just really like JP House Of Pizza right now. It may change, but I've been on this kick for a couple of months now so maybe it won't. -

Being new to JP I have not had the chance to check out the competition for JP House of Pizza yet but, I may not need to either! This place gives service a new meaning.
From ordering to delivery my experience was nothing short of great. The pizza? Really the PIZZA? Off the hook! And all of this at great prices that wont bust the bill fold either.
I love this place! -

Hyde Park, Boston, MA
Because of the nature of my work, I have to travel from Hyde Park to Chestnut Hill then straight to Somerville each day. JPhop has made that trip bearable. I have tried nearly every cheap food joint and pizza place in the city and JPhop has by and far the best bang for your buck.
With 5 bucks, you can get a two delicious, well-sized slices of pizza, served by some of the friendliest staff in Boston. Must try if you are in Jamaica Plain. -

As I sit here waiting for my JP HoP delivery, I figure I might as well share with Yelp why I love them so.
1. They're incredibly friendly and efficient (and accurate with our orders)
2. JALAPEÑO POPPERS OF AWESOMENESS
3. Reedeeculously tasty pizza, especially for the price
... Now if only I could persuade my significant other to enjoy pineapple as a pizza topping as much as I do, we'd be all set. -

I love JP HOP. Delicious pizza, fast service, and cheap. I haven't tried anything else (yet?) but after reading the other reviews, I think I'll make a point to expand my JP HOP knowledge.

While I can't comment on the awesomeness of their pizza because I haven't had any yet....I can say that their steak sandwiches are awesome! They're pretty big; you'll definitely be full. And they're very yummy. I liked that they used a different kind of bread than regular sub bread. I have heard only good things about their pizza.

This is my favorite go-to place in JP when I'm hungry, don't have much time, and want something that I know will be good. Although the consistency is sometimes a bit off, the staff is very friendly, the portion sizes are large, and everything is relatively cheap. It is not the kind of place to dine at (another one of those run-of-the-mill pizza spots that seem to line centre street) but does offer some good selections that are quite satisfying every once and awhile.

I feel silly writing this review. Because JPhop is a place I'm completely ambivalent about. It's fine, I'll eat it if it's presented to me, but I'd never be like, "Oh man you guys, I am *dying* for a slice from JPhop." In fact, it wouldn't even occur to me to order from/go here for pizza or subs. I've had plenty of slices from here, ordered by friends and whatever, and I don't have any complaints. No raves either. They get an unenthusiastic yet not sarcastic ok from me.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because it is the way a neighborhood pizza place should be!
First, the pizza is great. The toppings are fresh. There isn't too much sauce. The cheese is perfect. They just make a great pie!
Second, the people are friendly. I'm so tired of grumpy restaurant owners. We all know things are tough. The last thing you want is grief when you order food. The people at JP House of Pizza are nice and very pleasant to deal with.
Third, the place is spotless. JP isn't big, but it is VERY clean. You just know the owners take pride in the place (which also carries over into their food).
If you live in Jamaica Plain or you are in the area - this is the place to go for pizza, gyros, salads, calzones, etc. Give it a try! -

I really really like this place. The only person who may like it more is my boyfriend (he even counts how many slices are left before going to bed - greedy bastard!). I have been looking for good cheese pizza since arriving in Boston in January and finally found it - and within walking distance! Oh - and super cheap to boot.

I have only tried their steak and cheese sub and I will not be getting this kind of sub from them again. Lack of flavor and oversized bun (the bread taste could override the taste of the meat).

I love JP HOP. I eat here at least once a week. Their subs are yummy - they are straight-up New England subs for the most part - nothing fancy - but the bread is always fresh, and the fillings are tasty. When I'm feeling a little decadent, the gyros are delicious. I love Greek pizza, with a relatively crispy crust, and that's what they have. Also the staff is super friendly and sunny, I always feel really appreciated, even though I'm buying a $5 sub. JP HOP rocks!!!!!

We ordered a JP special pizza (a combo of everything), and it is really good. The place is small, though. I will definitely come back often. I respect small businesses like this one. In the proces of making a living, they provide a valuable service to the community.

I've been to over a dozen pizza shops in Boston and this is the only place where the staff is consistently nice and appreciative of your business. I like the pizza which has a thick crust, with a slight buttery taste and the subs which are good especially when the bun is toasted. Yes, the place is nothing fancy, but it's clean and you'll be treated right!

gyro salad has no feta cheese and they didn't even give me any greek dressing. shouldn't it be a greek salad with gyro meat on top?? also the pita they hand out with that salad isn't even greek style pita. so blah!!! chicken wings are ok. pizza is meh. gyro meat is not from a spit either - how can this place be categorized as greek?? came, saw, conquered, and done with this place. i can get a better salad from real deal or same old place.

Pizza is good and cheap, as are the sandwiches, but ill really continue coming here because the people are so freaking nice, it makes me feel bad about myself for going anywhere else! There are lots of pretty crappy pizza places in JP/Roxbury where i live, but JP house of pizza is consistently good, clean, and inexpensive. Ive never been disappointed.

I dunno, was looking forward to ordering here after reading the reviews - pizza came quickly and was cheap with good toppings and decent crust, but... there was virtually no sauce on this pizza and it was thus completely bland, dry and flavorless. At some point I'll try again because usually this many yelpers can't be wrong, but the first experience was definitely not encouraging.
