Oh Jackson-Triggs...
This is where it all began. We visited Niagara for a couple days and booked the"taste the season" wine tour and it was quite honestly the best part of my NY/CHICAGO/NIAGARA FALLS trip. The drive between wineries were beautiful and the icewine absolutely mindblowingly delicious.
Anyway, we ran into a snag with the reservations and were directed to Mr Graham (for privacy purposes I won't post his last name). He not only helped us work out the details, he called back to follow up to make sure our tickets were in order. That is AMAZING customer service.
Furthermore, the wine and tastings at this winery were unbelievable! Come here for friendly service and a great wine tasting experience! -

Really lovely place. It was super busy when we went so getting up to the tasting bar seemed to be more trouble than it was worth.
I find Jackson-Triggs to be a solid stand-by wine but overall nothing special. The energy of the winery and of the wine itself I find to be corporate and sterile. I prefer smaller wineries that are family owned and operated. But that's just me.
Nothing bad here, nothing spectacular. A-OK -

Jackson Triggs ended up being my first stop on our wine and chocolate tour. This one was hard to assign a star-rating to.
On the one hand, the place is gorgeous, and the staffers were beyond friendly. Then again, I learned that I'm not a fan of ice wine. At all. That stuff is sweeter than Care Bear piss after a pixie stick bender. Just gross. After later giving the ice wine another shot at a couple of other wineries, I learned that this is just my dislike of the stuff in general, and not of Jackson Triggs in particular. My girlfriend loved their wine. -

My boyfriend and I went to 4 wineries in Niagara on the Lake and this was our least favorite. The wine was good, but not amazing. And it was way too expensive for what you were getting. Admittedly, the pinot noir was quite good. The sparkling sauvignon blanc and merlot were interesting- definitely worth trying. I would recommend this winery for tasting, but not fro buying.

Had a great tasting experience here. The building itself is beautiful and modern with steel, glass and wood. The "shop" and tasting area is elegant.
It was $1 per taste and $3 per taste of ice wine. The wines we tried were great and I left with a bottle of the dry Riesling. The pours were generous and were really like 1/4 of the glass instead of just a sip.
It turns out the tasting for me and two others were free because we bought a couple bottles. That was great news.
We headed over to Lake Ontario and enjoyed our picnic lunch with some wine from Jackson Triggs. Delicious. -

We spent our entire time here in the wine store, wine tasting away. There's quite an extensive selection of wines all of which ranged from decent to very tasty. The tastings were from $1 to $3 each, but as we ended up purchasing various vintages, all of our tastings were comped - and we tried a lot! As one of the larger wineries in the area, it is a great first stop for a tour.

Not impressed..bought a couple bottles of J T Merlot, 11 dollars..each..not good..prefer the similar priced Chilean like fronteira or even Naked Grape...

Sleeeeek building design. A very modern winery all around.
Their tour is pretty decent. It didn't involve any up close and personal looks at vines or anything, but you got to see their stainless steel tanks as well as the basement cavern area with oak barrels (both French and US barrels are used).
And their wine is pretty good, as good if not better than other competitors in the area.
They have a concert facility out back where they have concerts in the summer, sometimes with pretty cool people... One day I'm going for one of their summer concerts! -

Beautiful facility, and apparently environmentally friendly - open at the top to allow the air to cool the facility rather than having to air condition. It's very sleek and modern.
We didn't ask for a tour - just headed straight for the tasting room. The staff was patient and did a good job of explaining to those who didn't really know what they wanted or what questions to ask. The tasting list was long and diverse, but we were here for the ice wines. Being our first winery to visit in the area, it was a good grounding experience to understand what to expect. Our server gave us coupons for Inniskillin and some other recommendations, so after we bought our bottle we were on our way.
And they did take the tasting charge off when we bought a bottle - always a welcome gesture. -

This was my favorite of the big wineries in the area. We arrived at 10:30a for a tour and tasting. The tour was really informative and well worth the $5 price tag. During the tour we learned a little about their growing techniques, the basic process of making the wine, and got up close and personal with their underground barrel storage. The tour guide let us ask whatever questions we wanted, making the tour anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour. At the end we had a lovely tasting in a private room.
Great winery to tour and taste and my favorite of the wine touring weekend! -

This place was fantastic.
From the tour guide, to the vineyards and over to the wine tasting, this place was a lot of fun.
Our group really interacted which made all the difference, and as a result we were all having a really good time.
The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful in teaching and answering the many questions that came their way.
And I will agree...the ice wine was incredible.
When back in this area, I have vowed to return for another session of wine tasting...uhh I mean tour. -

When you hit Niagara-on-the-Lake, and take part in a few wine tours, you get to recognize pretty quickly which vineyards are the smaller family-run ones, and which ones are the larger producers. You can tell by the size of the vineyard itself, the décor of the rooms, even the number of buildings that make up the complex, but I tend to use the tasting area. If instead of one person behind a bar whose last name is the same as the one on the bottle they're pouring, and is instead replaced by one of 50 people who wear the same vest with a name tag on it (not the one on the bottle) and don't feel pressured by the fact that three busloads of seniors from Oakville just pulled up, you're in one of the bigs. Jackson-Triggs is that.
This is a winery complex with several buildings making up the main tour grounds. Large groups are more than welcome here, with tours able to be purchased in fairly quick rotation. Because of its size, you're also able to rent out the vineyard for weddings and functions (Dare you to do that and order in Rief (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...)). The tour is pretty informative, the expanse of the vineyard impressive, and the staff definitely knowledgeable. It is a larger vineyard and as such misses the charm of the smaller wineries in Niagara-On-The-Lake. I'm not a big fan of the Jackson-Triggs wine, but being on the grounds gave it a little bit more palate. Must be psychosomatic.
Not as charming as the small wineries but definitely worth the trip. -

I love icewine. I love it more than chocolate. (I love it with chocolate as well.)
This was the last stop on a drive around Niagara wine country and it was by far the best stop as well. We hit about 3-4 other wineries before coming to this one, so by the time we were at Jackson-Triggs we already had quite a few glasses of Vidal in our bellies.
Like all wineries in the region, the surrounding vineyards were beautiful and the winery structure itself was unique in architectural design - a simple yet beautiful glass, metal and wood structure which portrays a feeling of freshness and functionality above all else.
The tasting room is smaller than many others in the region, but it's cozy and from our experience the tasting consultants (read: customer service) was an order of magnitude better than the rest. A smiling, friendly, advising attendant gave us tips on the different varietals of icewine as well as their more contemporary wines. I have to say that the Niagara Peninsula Sauvignon Blanc is one of the best I've ever tasted.
We went through a tasting as part of a certificate that our hotel (Sterling Inn & Spa) provided us, but the attendant didn't stop there. She proceeded to give us more than just the flight. We chatted about the region and she kept pouring us new tastings. It was a great experience and I eventually just had to say "No" since I was driving. Boo hoo!
We walked out with 4 bottles - 2 icewine / 2 Sauvignon Blanc, and they gave us a nice black cloth carrying bag. Classy and convenient!
We would have liked to go on the tour, but unfortunately we missed the last one for the day. That just gives me more reason to return!
Seriously, do not miss Jackson-Triggs if you are in the Niagara, Ontario area. -

Jackson-Triggs is among the best wineries to stop at in the Niagara region: it has a sleek, modern building, and of course great wine that you can sample at their slick tasting bar. My personal favourite is Jackson-Triggs "Meritage," a nice heavy red that's part Merlot, part Cabernet Sauvignon, and goes for around $12. (It's also carried at most LCBOs.)
They even have a bandstand at the winery, where well-known musical acts put on shows during summer evenings. They sell out pretty early in the season, so it's best to look into that only if you're planning your wine-tasting tour well in advance, or if you live a reasonably short distance away. -

If you can only visit one or two wineries well in the area this one is a must do.
It is a very nice modern winery. If I recall correctly the main reason it even exists is for the tours. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the tasting at the end of the tour is very in depth compared to some of the others I have done in the area.
I know many people may just think of Jackson-Triggs as the mass market Canadian Winery, but their platinum label wines are amazing.
I wish we could get them in Massachusetts. I think this is the only state in the US you can't have them shipped too. -

spoke to locals and many friends who've visited toronto and they all recommend this winery. we made reservations for the $5 wine tasting and tour and it was worth every penny. plus you get the money back if you buy something... definitely get ice wine cause i havent seen much in the states or its more expensive. their package deals here are totally worth it!
