Awesome little place.
a One man show. The chef is the show. He greets you, takes your order, makes it to order. Chats you up while he's prepping your heavenly lunch.
It's a tiny place, 5 tables or so. But really it's Victoria, there's no need to eat burgers inside, go for a walk in your beautiful city and take your awesome food to go.
Had their special - Titan Burger (spin on a greek burger - Toms, Lettuce, zesty Ranch, Feta)
The burger was delicious, best I've hand hands down. Great crust on the hand made patty, wonderful seasoning. First bite was crunchy and dense. Second bite was clear juice running down my face and a bright pink centre. Couldn't have been better cooked. JUST RIGHT!
The bun was nice and crispy with just the right give. Not doughy at all.
Had a side of Black Pepper Apple Slaw. Great twist on a average side.
Will be back....will bring friends.... I wanna check out the rest of the menu -

I've been back twice since I wrote my first review of Jackalope. The Apple Jackalope has become a regular craving for me. I think they've won me over as my favourite burger spot.

Review from Dustin D.

Wonderful little bistro that doesn't take itself too seriously... except when it comes to their food quality and service. Their menu is unique and has a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options, some of which sounded so good that this carnivore almost ordered a lentil and walnut burger. I got the killer rabbit burger (covered in spicy everything, banana peppers, jalapeños, chipotle sauce and spicy chorizo). The herbed patty was delicious as was every topping on it, the only nit picking I could do would be to say that there was a bit too much chipotle sauce for me. The fries seemed fresh cut and were certainly extremely fresh cooked and only cost $1 extra with the burger. Great prices, great selection, great quality ingredients, nice variety, high attention to detail of the food, outstanding service, small cute and tucked away. I will definitely return.

I called in an order from work and picked up my black bean burger and coleslaw ten minutes later. The restaurant is really cute and they've got some tables set up outside in the sunshine. The food was delicious and CHEAP! Super cheap and super delicious is a good combination in my books and I'll be telling everyone at work and all my other friends that there's a great new spot in town to get a great meal and have a friendly conversation. They have a bunch of vegetarian options which is WONDERFUL for a burger joint.

Top notch! It's a burger shop located in an alleyway off a busy downtown street. We came in late with a group of five. They were happy to serve us, holding the shop open late to provide us with absolutely amazing burgers. The Killer Rabbit burger was spicy hot, but tasty. Next time I'll try some of the sides, as the fries were fine, but not as interesting as the rest of the food. While we were there, local residents came down to pick up orders and drop off the plates from previous meals. Let's encourage this enterprise - I think they'll be part of the Victoria scene for years to come.
Specialties
Our food is made fresh daily; from buns to burger patties. Nothing is ever frozen! Hand-cut, homemade fries, fantastic pasta salads, apple pepper coleslaw, and juicy 100% beef and vegetarian burgers. Gluten free options are also available.

Having spent several years talking to computers as a software cycle professional, Melodie's yearning to open a restaurant and feed the masses with food and happiness (and talk to actual people) never waned and she worked hard to make her desire a reality.
Today, you can find her still behind her computer during the day, but at Jackalope every night, and all weekend long, enjoying her time being creative in the kitchen (always thinking of that next vegetarian specialty!), cooking up a storm, socializing with the customers, and maintaining the front of house.
