Review from Tony H.
Winnipeg, MB
I was a bit nervous about going out to dinner on Super Bowl night; would whatever restaurant we chose be full of rowdy fans? J. Fox's has a large-screen TV, like any good pub, so perhaps boisterousness would be a problem. But the food and the service had been soooo good on two previous visits, that we thought we would try.
To my surprise the place was quiet, although the game was playing on the screen. We had a fabulous meal, and were well-treated by the proprietor himself. For his sake, I wish his place had been full; for ours, it was a perfect evening.
The menu is deliberately kept short. The entrees (priced around $15) are all high-quality pub-style fare (cottage pie, fish and chips, "drunken trout," and a great vegetarian lasagna). On all three visits, our choices have been consistently delicious and beautifully presented.
J. Fox's deserves to be better known. You should try it. Unless of course you like to be raucous and rowdy when the Big Game is playing. -

Having quickly transformed the space formerly occupied by Academy Bar & Eatery, J. Fox's is the newest pub themed restaurant in Winnipeg. A small, intimate bar/lounge is separated from the restaurant by an impressive field stone column. A short menu hints at some sophistication, even if execution falls slightly shy of the mark.
