The Italian Gourmet, despite being on the expensive side, fills an important specialty niche in Halifax.

Whether you're trying to make authentic Tiramisu (and want real Italian lady fingers) or a wider breadth of olive oil options, 'The Italian Gourmet' is a good place to start. This specialty store also carries deli meats and cheeses which you can have portioned out to your liking.

The baker/pastry chief at Italian Gourmet also does an amazing job creating cakes which you can purchase by the slice as well as cookies, and an assortment of other goodies.

The deli portion of Italian Gourmet is probably what a lot of people know it for. You can come in and order an entree+salad option for lunch or soup+salad. There are an array of options. I used to LOVE the curry chicken soup at this restaurant but they have clearly switched suppliers and the new variety isn't nearly as good. Expect to pay $9+ for some of these lunch options.

Overall, a little overpriced, but enough prosciutto, mascarpone, and salami to keep you coming back to this Italian deli.
