Love these guys. Awesome sandwiches for lunch. They pre-make delicious Italian-style sandwiches, so you're in and out pretty quickly (depending on the line). But they'll also custom make you anything you want. And they do it with a smile and friendly banter.

Any time the guys in the office suggest this place for lunch, I'm always in.

Fantastic sandwiches with fresh bread, best I've seen so far in Victoria. Staff are friendly in a scared kind of way, makes you wonder if the owners are ball busters.

Good variety of imported products, and I hear they will have a big selection of Pannetone for the Xmas season.

As far as sandwich prices are concerned I think it's fairly reasonable, $7 for a sandwich and Italian beverage. But I will mention that anyone ever making it out east to Ottawa should try a spot in the Byward Market that I've written about before.

I think these guys should follow the same recipe for choice of fillings with an easy 4 step process, just like in Ottawa.

Wonder if these cats are shooting dice in the basement.

I had the most delicious sandwich here this afternoon, called the New Yorker (pastrami, provolone, roasted peppers, spinach in bun that tasted a bit like a giant pretzel) .  I also ordered a side of their Chopped Italian Salad.  Great flavour, really fresh tasting ingredients and quick service.
I haven't been here in a while, but I won't wait long before my next visit!

Was in Victoria for the day and found this sandwich shop on Yelp.
My boyfriend and I split a 12 inch sandwich for I about 8.95.  We just went up to the front and told the guy that we wouldn't mind something kinda spicy, but not too much, and to create something for us.
It was the best sandwich I've ever had at a sandwich shop!
They make all of their spreads from scratch and the workers are skilled at the task.
Service was great. We went mid afternoon so the lineup wasn't too long, but they were out of some breads and whatnot.

All in all this is definitely a place worth checking out!

    MMMM.... panini.....

If panini's are your thing, you must go try it here. It's no frills, it's take-out so it won't come with any side of chips, olives, or anything like some other places, but it's so good and cheaper. They have a great selection of meats and cheese.

I'm always amazed at just how friendly the guys who work the counter here are.  This deli serves tasty sandwiches at less than 5 bucks a pop of a number of different varieties.

While the deli's specialty is its imported meats and cheeses, they'll make you a delicious vegetarian sandwich if you'd like. Make sure to try the sun-dried tomato aioli, if you like fancy condiments.

Italian Food Imports will also special order you bread from the Portofino Wholesale Bakery if you'd like.  Portofino makes an awesome multi-grain loaf, and all of the other fantastic breads you can have your sandwiches made on here.

My only issues with this place are:
    a) The incredibly long lines at lunch time (what else would you expect for a great deli which sells decently-sized $4.50 sandwiches)
    b) They don't carry Mendocino Mustard (http://www.mendocinomu...) - but should I expect this from a deli in Victoria?

Good quality and varied selection of Italian food items. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and quite fast during their crazy-busy-with-government-employees lunch period. Prices are also reasonable for a speciality deli located in the down town core.

The sandwiches, deli meats, soups, bread and paninis are all well above average. There are various interesting imported Italian beverages available. I've never left unhappy.

All that said, you may ask, well why not 4 stars? well honestly, it's because I'm not a fan, but that's simply because I'm not a huge Italian food or soup and sandwich kinda guy and I haven't gone there just to purchase Italian food items to bring home. So, while I can attest to all the positive attributes of the shop, I'm just not personally a big fan of that type of food.

I like this place. Since I moved from back east, I've always had the feeling that Vancouver and Victoria really got shortchanged -- just not enough Italians.  But this place goes a long ways to making things better!

It's got a fair selection of (fairly expensive) deli items, including a bunch of different coffees, olive oils, antipasti, and pastas.

It also had good, cheap lunches. There's a pasta special each day for $5. I showed up late today, so got mine for $4. Can't complain about that. And it was pretty passable stuff.

There's a ton of deli meats and cheeses, all good and Italian. Their specialty is sandwiches made to order and they've always got enough staff on that things move along decently quickly. I mostly avoid the lunch rush, and there are often more staff than customers.

So why not a five star? Well, I'm just not a fan of foccacia, rolls and crispy breads... so the cheap sandwiches don't really appeal to me. And the deli stuff is good, but pricey.

I love their meatballs. Heavenly, heavenly balls of meat. So delicious and satisfying with every bite. Throw them on some linguini and you have a perfect, easy meal when you're feeling lazy.

Alright, admittedly perhaps they are not the most gourmet meatballs, but their role in my life is worth a solid 5 stars.

For the rest of the Italian deli's offerings I'm a little non-plussed. The sandwiches are decent, but nothing more. To be frank there is nothing really exclusive that draws me to them. Hence a very solid 3 star.

I will however rave about the service. This staff is well trained and loves their food. I've never had service that was less than exemplary.

Ahh... and the last time I was there it was to grab one of their decent sandwiches to go (Choux Choux must've been closed) and head to Beacon Hill with a crossword on a sunny summer day. Sweet memories.

I used to live in Victoria and had always meant to stop here but never seemed to find the time. I was back in town for a visit with a beautiful sunny Saturday to kill with some well earned time to just enjoy myself and decided to stop in.

I was not disappointed to say the least. Their selection of Italian food items for purchase is great but the food you can order in the little deli is the real reason to visit this gem. I had their daily special which was an amazing Chicken Coconut Currey Soup and an Italian Meatball Panino.

The soup was full of complex flavour. You could easily taste the coconut, the curry, the peppers, and that wonderful chicken stock flavour in the background. It had just the right amount of heat where the heat ads to the complexity of the taste but isn't so hot that it kills the flavours.

The Panino sandwich was equally amazing. Perfectly spiced and sized meatballs in a tangy and spicy pasta sauce and provolone cheese and a fresh Italian bun with a sprinkling of fresh basil and oregano.

I topped it all off with a bottle of Orangina because I'm a sucker for citrus.

Go here! Right away! Well, if you love food you will.

I have lunch here about once a week. The pasta of the day with three meatballs and some baguette is about $7 -is enough for two people- and always good. Great sandwichs on a variety of breads made to order if the ones in the case don't appeal. Often a line but service pretty prompt and always friendly. Great selection of italian groceries on small collection of shelves. It's a good lunch on  a weekday or bring the family for a cheap Saturday lunch.

Good selection of Italian products.  Great place to pick up meats and cheeses for home or to grab a quick lunch on the go,  Their sandwiches are perfecto!!
