A tight menu to fit the space: Appetizers range from $3 - $7; Salads for $4; Entrees top out at $10. This place does not have a liquor license but they're open 7 days a week from 11-11pm. CASH ONLY

Sitting on the 410 heading back from Richmond, I swear my rumbling stomach was playing tricks on my eyes, for there in the window was a sign "Turkish Pizza $4.99". I was so hungry, I thought it was a mirage and the only way to find out was..."Stop! Wait, back door" I had to get off that bus.

Turkish Pizza and I have a long love affair....it started in Hamburg's (ahem) entertainment district where I was a bartender at an all night bar and Turkish eats were on every block and corner and continued through southern Germany where I was fortunate enough to not only live above a Turkish restaurant but had a barter system with the boys there...Guinness for Turkish Pizza. What more can one ask for?

How about...a great, cheap Turkish restaurant right opposite RIchmond Mall? Smack in front of the 410 bus stop and opposite the 98B-line stand, this tiny little shop only opened a couple of weeks ago. White washed with only a handful of tables and spartan decor, the service was friendly, the place smelled heavenly and the food (at least the pizza) was delish.

The size of a pita, the flat bread was loaded with ground meat and onions and spices and served with a wedge of lemon (which you squeeze over it), a handful of parsley (which you scatter on top) and slices of tomatoes (which you wrap the flat bread around). Served sliced and pipping hot, the pizza came with all the accoutrements needed.

I was so excited about my Turkish Pizza and running for the next bus that I didn't try anything else...but I'll be back!

Made it back today again and they thankfully had not had a party the night before this time!  The same kind gentleman was working.  He seems really nice.

Got the lahmacun (Turkish pizza) and coban salad.  The lahmacun was good, although it could have been a bit hotter.  There was a nice kick of spice scattered throughout the topping.  The fresh tomatoes (those were some of the ripest and delicious tomatoes I've had in a long while) and parsley wrapped nicely and gave a good contrast in texture and flavour.  The coban salad was freshly sliced (after ordering), and tossed with a pleasant dressing.

Overall for Vancouver it was good - although it doesn't compare to the quality of lahmacun I've had in Turkey, Europe, and Australia.  But I'm happy they are there.

I will return and try the etli pide next time for sure.

Thanks for the tip, Kath R!
