This place is great for a quick Lebanese plate. They are fill to the brim with food and the garlic sauce ... Oohh.. the garlic sauce, it's honestly worth trying.
My only beef and this is only because I'm a stickler with Tabbouleh, the bulgur is crunchy and it's really dry but fresh.Listed in: Talkin' Tabboul-eh?

On the way home from work today I thought I would check out one of the places I have had on my bookmark list, it is starting to get big as I read peoples reviews I keep adding places but often end up back at my ole standbys.
So after checking over my bookmarks I saw Issa's and thought Lebanese could be a nice treat on a Friday night. I will confess I am not all that familiar with Lebanese cuisine, I have tried it a few times but that is about it.
I went in and pondered the menu, I was famished and opted to try two shawarmas djaj and lahem figured I could have one for supper and one for a snack later. I popped over to the store next door while they were getting made. When I came back in I was a little disheartened to see a microwave going. Not a fan of the microwave as a coking too, I am sure some of my favourite restaurants use them, but I guess I am glad they hide it from me so I can live in ignorance. The next thing I noticed was the man making it coughing repeatedly. Not the most pleasant thing when someone is preparing your food.
I took them to go and headed home. I decided to try the shawarma djaj first and first thing I noticed was it was very dry. Too much pit and not enough of a sauce. I was really excited about the djaj because of the garlic sauce I had heard about, but the proportions were just off to me. Either it needed a smaller pita or more sauce because it was very dry. The chicken and other filling was fine, but I was hoping for more a punch, more garlic, more something. I tasted mostly pita. I opted to open the pita and just eat the filling which was okay, chicken was nice, but again still wanted more!
After the disappointment of the first, figured I would jump right into the second one, bite one, same as the last, too much pita. The lahem was even dryer then the djaj, I am guessing because the chicken was moister then the beef/lamb combo. After a second bite it ended up with the same fate of the djaj, I opened it up and ate the beef/lamb which was dry, although with a decent flavour.
Colour me disappointed. I have only had shawarma a couple times before, so for all I know this could be how it is supposed to be, but for me it just was not good. Not enough flavour, too much pita for filling which made it very dry and then add on the microwave and the coughing over my food, I can't say I will be back to try anything else.Listed in: With a Little Help From My…

Review from Ashlee F.
My roommate is Lebanese and got me addicted to manoosh. I don't know the "correct" names for them, but there are plenty of different types. I usually have the manoosh Zaatar; I think :)
My roommate usually comes with me... and orders for me, because, well, I don't speak Arabic. The one time I went without her it didn't go so well. The man who is usually working there doesn't speak very much English, so I ordered what I thought I wanted, turns out it wasn't *exactly* right, but still good.
There is plenty of tables and chairs, and usually isn't busy. The prices are great!!
Don't forget to say "shukran" when you're leaving! This means Thank you in Arabic! -

Issa's Saj House Lebanese Restaurant is tucked into the short side of the L, next to Cosmo Nail Bar and Salon. The owner runs the place and can often be found in the kitchen, cooking up his next batch of food.
The hummus here is outstanding; you can purchase a generously sized container and some pita chips to take away with you. The food itself is standard Lebanese fare: flatbreads, grilled meats, tabouleh ... all the things you miss at other restaurants.
Tip: Don't try to get a full dinner close to closing time. The grill is shut down and cleaned at least a half-hour before the restaurant closes, so you're stuck with reheating dishes prepared for earlier in the day.
