Went here a while back after a Value Village trip. I had never tried West Indian food before so I didn't know what was good, I asked the women what she recommended and she suggested the jerk chicken. It was really cheap (I think just over $10) and I got a generous portion of rice, chicken and veggies. The jerk chicken had a lovely spicy, sweet and salty flavor, I really enjoyed it. They also have a huge selection of West Indian beverages, I forgot to order one though.

The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of 5 is that the woman really wasn't friendly, rolled her eyes when I asked questions and didn't seem to want to wait on me at all.

Alright, you can take the jerk out of the islands but you can't visit Island Jerk without being treated poorly.  It kills me when a place has a reputation for good food but terrible customer service.  In the case of Island Jerk, they have terrible manners.

Now the food is good, one of the few places I would send a friend to for carribean food.  Just don't go if you are in a rush and NEVER try to sit down there and eat.  I brought a group of friends who were in town from Toronto once, we sat down in the dining room at lunchtime on a Thursday,  after 30 minutes we were not yet offered drinks and our order had not been taken.  What a terrible way to run a business.

If you do go to the takeout counter to order, I suggest the Jerk Chicken, Oxtail or Curry Goat.  If it is seafood you like then go for the escovitched snapper, its really good!  Just never mind the lack of customer service, grin and bear the "screw-face" looks you're likely to get and you'll enjoy some really good authentic Jamaican food!
