This bar is okay in my books, but it can get a little too busy.
I have spent more time in the line up outside this bar, than the time I have spent inside the bar drinking and dancing.
If you make it past your ridiculously long line up and make it inside you will notice that this place is huge! There are some places to sit, but I have never seen them empty.
There is an upstairs to this bar, but I rarely spend time up there because the dance floor - and the fun - is downstairs!
I don't go here very often anymore because for some reason, once you get older, the thought of waiting an hour in a line up is a lot less fun. -

Iron horse is a country bar that plays top 40 music.
The lineup for this place was ridiculous and the bouncers are willing to take money under the table to get you in faster. These kind of clubs are the worst for lines because bouncers will hold them up just to get paid a little extra. One cool thing about the line is that it is mostly heated, so if you were to go out in the winter this is one place you could stay toasty.
Once you get inside you find the club is rather large, it has a kind of secluded bar area, for hanging out, right when you walk in and then another huge bar with an elevated dance floor at the opposite end. The dance floor also has a stripper pole and it's pretty hilarious watching drunk wanna be strippers or girls just trying to be seductive making complete asses of themselves.
When you get overwhelmed by the craziness downstairs you can escape to the upstairs. It has another bar and washrooms and it is more chilled out. Mostly, it is just people taking it easy.
In the summer they open up their back patio, which also has a bar and is great for enjoying the summer air and having some drinks. There's no dance floor out here but people aren't afraid to invent their own. The patio closes at 11 or midnight, I can't remember which, and once that happens everyone pushes inside and it becomes absolutely slammed downstairs. It is hard to just move around.
I hate waiting in lines so I wouldn't go here often, but if you get to Whyte Ave early it is great to check out and often turns into a good time. -

I don't really like Iron Horse but there are a lot of people who do because it is always packed.
I think the last time I was dragged to Iron Horse was for a birthday party.
I will definitely give them props for having a gigantic bar - 2 levels, both of which are big - and always filling it. I don' t know how they do it but they do.
The actual bar inside is pretty big. I don't think they have enough bartenders working it though (at least not for the amount of people they have to serve).
One thing that I think is never a good idea, is stairs in a club. Stairs + alcohol = an accident waiting to happen. In fact, it did! My friend once fell down the entire flight of stairs at the Iron Horse and was insanely bruised the next morning. Which brings me to another point, I always feel like I'm babysitting when I go here. There are way to many severely intoxicated people within the vicinity and I'm not a fan of that by any means.
Iron Horse? Not for me. -

Never actually made it inside-- too turned off by the ridiculous wait outside of the place. People crowded around three sides of the roped off area where the door man stood, about 3 heads deep all around; was a Friday night... if you go, go early or go late so you might actually be able to write a review for the inside of the place as opposed to the outside.
