I love the apple store. I feel as though I'm walking into a scene from Space Odyssey 2001...However, like any big chain, prices for computer and phone repairs can be up there. Plus in many cases, what would be a simple fix for a repair department at the bigger stores still involves shipping the item away for several weeks. This won't work if it's an iPhone you have in your hand.
This is why iRepair is great. They are local which means repairs are done locally, have fantastic customer service (a rarity these days with many businesses) and reasonable pricing.
I had the back glass of my iPhone broken for some time. But thanks to losing my directions, thank u mapquest, I stumbled upon iRepair on main.
I was happily greeted by one of the Managers, Sarah (not sure if it's with or without the "H" ;). She was very attentive, understanding, cheerful and very helpful. My phone was fixed in no time at a pretty good price.
I really have nothing negative. The reason for them missing one star is due to the pricing. But it's not that bad. It's a local store so I expected slightly higher pricing. BUT the benefits of having it repaired locally by great staff, not signing copious amounts of paperwork, dealing with the insane amount of customers you find at an apple store and more...it was definitely worth it.
I was so impressed I will go there for all my apple repair needs instead of the apple store. The benefits far outweigh slightly higher pricing. Imagine a world without a local tech repair store. Scary I know.
Thanks Sarah and iRepair! -

In short, my advice is to save your time and your sanity and take the extra time to head to the North Shore location to experience some excellent, prompt, and friendly customer service...
If you have the time, continue reading to find out about the most frustrating customer service experience I've had in years:
Sign of trouble #1 - show up on the weekend during posted business hours to find a 'Gone Fishing' sign on the door
I eventually dropped off my iPhone on another day to have the cracked screen repaired (assuming that, as advertised, it'll probably take about an hour to fix).
Sign of trouble #2 - no timeline given as to when I'll get my phone back
After being told I'd 'probably' be able to pick my phone up the next day, I waited for a phone call that never came. Day 3 arrives and I call to find out what the status is.
Sign of trouble #3 - multiple phone calls go unanswered despite the store purportedly being open; emails/voicemails go unreturned
I eventually visited the store in person to find out what was going on.
Sign of trouble #4 - overhear employee apologizing to another seemingly unsatisfied customer
I'm told that they're having troubles with my phone "boot-looping" - whatever that means (skip the jargon and just tell me when my phone will be ready, OK?). The employee denies not answering the telephone all day. He still won't give me an answer as to when my phone will be ready, but assures me he'll pick up the telephone the next day. When I call again the next day, I'm told my phone should be ready in an hour. My whole day goes so much better knowing that I'm finally going to get my phone back, until...
Sign of trouble #5 - employee brings my phone to the counter with cracked screen still intact
I am informed that multiple replacement screens were tried out and none of them worked. Then I am told that my phone might function if I can restore if from my own computer, but they weren't able to get it to sync with iTunes any longer.
Let me summarize: I brought my perfectly-functioning phone in to get a cracked screen fixed in under an hour. Four days later I get my phone back NOT WORKING AT ALL with no apologies, explanations, or plans to replace it. However, they graciously offer not to charge me for services rendered.
After I return home utterly speechless and confused, I realize my phone is now also missing both a screw and the cover over the earpiece. The USB connector is askew. Unsurprisingly I am unable to sync it or restore it or connect it to my computer at all. Of course, the store is closed the next day, and I am working during the store's business hours the following day. The thought of being without my phone for a sixth day is making me crazy. Luckily my wife is able to take the phone in on my behalf to ensure that something is done
to either fix it replace it.
Sign of trouble #6 (a little bit of history repeating itself) - no one at the store during business hours (not even a 'Gone Fishing' sign on the door)
Incredulous, my wife heads up to the North Shore iRepair location (recommended by another friend) to plead for assistance with this relentless customer service debacle. Despite being technically unaffiliated with the branch I had been dealing with, they provide exemplary service and completely fix my screen and my phone
within the hour, as advertised. Six days of phonelessness now over, I post this review in the hopes that iRepair on Main Street will one day learn provide service as well as the North Shore location does. Although I would like to give the folks at the Main Street branch a break for being new to the game, it doesn't take much experience to realize that you should open the store when you say you're going to. In the meantime, as I've already said, save yourself the grief and bring your iPhone/iPod/iPad repairs directly to North Vancouver. -

Brought my ipod touch in there as the headphone jack wasn't working. Online quotes 60$ brought it in, and they fixed it (well haven't used it that much but checked in store and it was working). Plus they told me they fix it better then apple actually does as they don't solder it back on but actually use wires so there's a bit of a give. Two day turn around, but I have a feeling if I really pushed it, it would've been quicker (but I didn't need it quicker so it wasn't in issue).
Contemplating bringing in my ipod touch 1G in there to get a screen fixed, but wondering if its worth the $$$
