Review from Hannah S.
Boy were we excited to see a Taiwan flag driving through downtown Charlottetown! My mom immediately got off the car to take photos, and my boyfriend and I were ready to get some boba ourselves. In the end, we decided to just have lunch at the place.
Their ads would say, "Interlude Cafe --- BUBBLE TEA, ASIAN SNACKS, DAILY COMBO SPECIALS." Which is actually only partially true. They have one page full of drinks on their menu. Their flavored ice milk teas are all artificially flavored powders, which I hate. But the original bubble tea drink was pretty good, and the tapiocas were soft. Their selection of food is very small, and their menu items look like this:
Daily Specials $8.50
(MON) Lion Head
(TUE) Bokum
(WED) Hanoi Beef Noodle Soup
(THURS) Gong Bao
(FRI) Mango Pork Chop
Appetizer & Snacks
Hot & Sour Soup with Noodles $6.50
Buudha Special (Veg) $4.00
Curry Chicken or Curry Tofu $5.50
Wonton Soup (Pork or Veg) $5.00
Hon Yo Chao Shou (Pork or Veg) $4.00
Dumplings $4.00
Chinese Stuffed Buns $4.00
Spicy Mango Salad $4.00
Needless to say, I wouldn't really call their food "Asian Snacks" but more so little gourmet dishes you can have for a light lunch (portions are small). The food is pretty good, but has more of a Thai influence than Taiwanese. And other than their "snacks," there really is only one special dish you can order each day, which cuts the number of dishes you can choose from down to nine. But all in all, this is definitely a good place to go if you're craving for Asian food on Prince Edward Island!
The owners and workers are great conversationalists and very friendly, too :)
