This place is amazing!  I have stayed at a couple different places in San Diego and The Inn has one of the best locations.  The sunsets from the deck are something we made sure we were back for each evening.  The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel grounds look like a botanical garden with all the beautiful flowers. Staff were very friendly and the vibe was laid back and quiet. We will be back!

I stayed here last weekend for a girlfriends birthday.  She said the room was a little over 300, and my thoughts were "for OB? No, No, she must have said La Jolla.." But she didnt, and as we checked out the room on Saturday, I realized why it costs that much. The place was HUGE. Two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen.  I loved that they had pots, pans, silverware, and glass cups. I totally felt at home.
The view is breathtaking and I personally love how this is an independently owned place. Their prices have  to be a little bit more steep because they are competing with corporations who can offer cheaper prices because they are better known.
The staff is super nice and put up with my loud bunch. Super helpful and attentive. If they ever allow us back, I would totally love to.

Perfect day for a Wedding celebration !!! Oh I just LOVE weddings !

I was fortunate to witness the joining of two 'in love' newlyweds (Congrats Marianne and Ben!). I can see why they chose this site as their reception ! Love was definitely in the air!

It's pretty close to what I envision as my 'ideal' wedding spot to look like. Outdoors and by the water ! Small and intimate with close family and friends. This location had just that and more.

A beautiful, panoramic 180-degree ocean view with the scenic Ocean Beach pier in the background. Resembled a picture perfect painting from all angles!

Fluffy, marshmallow clouds, baby blue skies, the sound of the calm waves and the smell of the ocean, with a touch of the crisp breeze blowing through you as the sun slowly sets. /sigh

Nature was at work on this beautiful, magical day. What more could you ask for? The view alone was truly, truly BREATHTAKING ! Everyone was in awe of the view !

Picture taking frenzy throughout the day, especially by me ! Take a peek of the shots I took. Pictures don't do it justice though. You really have to enjoy this gorgeous site up close in person.

Rooms are available if you decide to extend your stay. A nice, romantic getaway IMO.

Note: I came super close to catching the bouquet. So..so CLOSE!

I can't say I have really ever stayed here although it is a beautiful spot located right at the start of the Sunset Cliffs drive. I went to check it out for a Reader story on how the hotel is being sued by an environmental group for code compliance violations. Apparently, the cement area where they hold wedding ceremonies is built out on a seawall that is technically on Coastal property.

Before Yelp advertisers go getting their feathers ruffled, and "flag" this Yelp, I think they should think otherwise because I just adore this little Inn and am very impressed by how nice it is. I heartily recommend it and this just comes from walking around, taking pictures and poking my head into some of the rooms being cleaned.

The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. They handed me fliers on weddings and even though you have to reserve the entire place (all 24 rooms) in order to book a wedding party, it is well worth it, IF you have the money to afford it. If cost was no criteria to consider,  I would so have a destination wedding at the Inn at Sunset Cliffs. Though the hotel package does not include food, catering, DJs and other extras, who cares if the panoramic Pacific, swooping pelicans and seagulls, and surfers are part of the wedding party?

The small pool in the interior is screened by glass walls and that is probably a good idea because the locale is breezy and windswept but again, that is part of the charm. Walking down the steps to the wedding area that is in legal contention, I was struck how I could look due north and see directly to my fav summer hangout-Bermuda Beach. The concrete patio that is where ceremonies are held really was no great shakes-the day I was there it was wet and the plants around it looked in need of some fertilizer.

However, despite all the legal mumbo-jumbo swirling around this place, I would hasten to add, that if I were to be a bride soon and my daddy had a lot of money, I would book a wedding here post haste and take advantage of what may soon be a beautiful cliff-side hitching post disappearing soon. Inn at Sunset Cliffs: no need to flag this Yelp!

We stayed here a few weeks ago with our three young children.  The hotel was outstanding.  Friendly staff, clean decent sized rooms, and views are just incredible.

Our kids loved the little golf putting area and the swimming pool.  There was plenty of room for them to roam around without bothering other guests.  The hotel has about 24 units, and it the guests appeared to be split fairly evenly between families and couples, and the two seem to mix pretty well.   In other words, if you wanted to be there with your kids or on a relaxing visit with your significant other, this place works well.

One really can't say enough about the views and the proximity to the ocean.   Sometimes on trips with the family, the end of the day can be really stressful because everyone is tired, you're crammed back in your hotel room, etc.  But at this hotel, with the spacious grounds right in front of the ocean, and the ocean itself, seemed to take the edge off of everything.  In other words, at the end of the day, you aren't stuck in your room, but instead can relax with this stunning view of the ocean.

I also like how this hotel blends right into the local, eclectic, urban neighborhood.  You definitely feel part of the Ocean Beach area of SD rather than feeling like you are at some resort isolated from the community.   The staff again was extremely friendly and very accommodating and responsive.

This hotel is a gem and we'll definitely come back.

Stayed there last weekend. Had change of plans at last minute, so stayed in two rooms - 110 and 214. 110 had a kitchen, complete with silverware and dishes! Very handy. Only thing about that room is the motion sensor lights worked mysteriously in the dark, when we were sleeping. Haunted?  :-)

Room 214....wow, what a view! I'd stay in that room every time if I could - it just doesn't get any better.

The whole staff (but especially Alex) was very friendly and helpful.

I had the pleasure to stay here on 5/6-5/7. it is wonderful. the staff is so nice. The room was sparkling clean. More than enough towels.
They had a nice decoration on the bed with fresh flowers and in the bathroom as well. The shower was great. I am a huge fan of walk in showers. I like the wood flooring. I think it is so much better than carpeting.
And the star was the view. Amazing!!!!! I sat out there and just listened to the waves crashing it was great and so relaxing.
We never see the ocean in Vegas, so to me it was heaven on earth.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

There's a lot of great things about this place.  Instantly you walk through the entrance and BAM beautiful ocean view that just gets better as you walk closer to it.  The staff is very courteous and easy going, and is eager to make sure their guests stay is exactly as it should be.  Inn at Sunset Cliffs has this little wandering dog who is like their mascot (Cruz) who is pretty cute (and I hate dogs).

Pros: amazing location, plenty of  lounge chairs/patio area, well priced, great shower, nice decor, nice flowers, Cruz, nice area.

Cons: hard Matress, semi cramped bathroom, parking is light, motion sensor light in bedroom is problematic, room tends to get lightly humid from being so close to ocean, some rust from ocean exposure

I have stayed here several times, my family used to get a room for a month every July or August to escape the Phoenix heat, now that they have stopped that I still make it out every so often.  As stated before the main draw here are the views.  Incredible patios where you feel like you are hanging over the edge of the cliffs as the waves pour in and crash against the rocky shores below.  One patio has a Plexiglas shield up to protect you from the sea spray and mist from the waves below. If you are the beach going type, this isn't your place, but if you are the kick back for hours on the patio drinking your favorite beer or cocktail as the sun sets and you watch the boats roll by like something out of a Jimmy Buffet song or Corona commercial, this is your place.

There are several shops for food, coffee, laundry, etc within walking distance, and if you are a runner there is a path going along the road that provides fantastic ocean views both ways.

It can be a bit pricey, but if you want to get away and totally relax, this is your place.

I recently spent two nights. The location is convenient for downtown and Seaworld alike. Free parking is nice.
I stayed in a kitchen suite. The bed was really comfortable. The sleeper sofa not so: bring sleeping bags for extra people. It's an old structure. So, I could hear upper floor's conversation (they might have been louder than usual). The sunlight did not reach our room, which left an odor that wasn't that pleasant.
The view of the ocean is priceless. They could wash away seagulls' droppings once in a while.
It's never hot for the pool which is OK to dip in and spend an hour or so.
The rooms are a little pricey. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel, I would recommend it. If not, you can find better places cheaper.

We splurged on the Presidential Suite for our one-night getaway, and while the room and the views were beautiful, even with our off-season discount, it wasn't quite worth the $350+. The inn essentially feels like a glorified motel, and while the service was friendly, and the views are amazing (I'll take a cliffside ocean view over a beach view any day!), it just didn't feel like there was enough "luxury" to warrant the price. Our "silk" comforter was a little worn, and the sheets under it seemed like standard issue hotel fare. The plasma TV didn't have the sharpest picture (like, fuzzier than a CRT tv), and I wish it could have been better situated to watch TV from the bed, or even the windowside hot tub. Speaking of the hot tub, it's HUGE!!! But the suite is on the corner of the U-shaped building, at the top of the stairs, so we heard everyone coming back at night (which feels a little weird when you're in the shower, hearing people walk right past you).

That said, the views ARE amazing, and everyone on staff was really nice. The free wireless was down when we were there, but there's a computer with internet access in the office that guests can use, as well as free off-street parking. The pool's fence (set about two inches from the edge of the pool), is a bit of an eyesore, though I'm guessing the hotel's main charm is the drama of the waves coming up on the cliffs more than poolside lounging.

A nice place to stay away from the hype of La Jolla or the crowds of the beach, but only if you're willing to pony up extra for a room with a view (at least you'll get more for your money here than in the chi-chi hotels). Don't forget to say hi to Puma, the resident kitty!

This Inn is literally on the edge of the Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach. It's got about 20 rooms and a ( little ) pool in the middle like on Melrose Place. It's got a big patio with awesome wooden lounge chairs overlooking the ocean and heating lamps for chilly evenings. At high tide, the waves splash up on the edge of the property. Rooms are perfect, staff is great. They have fruit, coffee and newspapers down by the pool in the morning. There is no other place to stay in San DIego. Slightly more pricy, but worth the experience.

My wife and I stayed here on the second half of our honeymoon. The first half was spent at Hotel Del Coronado which we found to be overpriced and stuffy. This place is the exact opposite. Fun, laid back atmosphere with amazing views, dogs running around the courtyard, and nice rooms. Highly recomended!

One review said we loved falling asleep to the crashing waves.  Our $285.00 is 5 feet from a wedding party--powerful sound system, a bonfire that has filled our room with smoke.  Definitely not a relaxing experience.

we stayed here for two nights for a wedding that was happening next door.

i don't have  anything very different to say from the other reviewers here. the view was AMAZING, salty, misty air and all. we loved falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves!

we shared a two bedroom suite with another couple. i found the room a little shabby. for $250 a night i expect a little luxury but i think you are mostly paying for the ocean views here. we really fell in love with the location but this is for sure an "inn" and i don't know if i would ever pay more than $100 for a room here.

if you do stay here check out what's cookin' about one block down. super good food for really reasonable prices!

Let me start off by saying this is a beautiful hotel.   The rooms are clean and very charming.  Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.  The problem with this place is the management, more specifically Liz.

I booked this venue at the beginning of June for for my September wedding.  My husband and I were happy they had an opening on such short notice.  We checked out the place and shortly after put down out non-refundable deposit. This was the second time we had been to the hotel.  Each time we came excited to get married at such a perfect site, but we would leave wondering, is it just us, or is this girl awful?  She would be on the phone with a guest rolling her eyes answering a question, then feel the need to tell us how stupid they are. "Oh my god they actually asked if we have Ipod docks!"(they don't)  "Anyway!"  Then she tells me how the reason our wedding date was open is the couple who were getting married had this awful breakup. The guy was cheating on the bride. -Nice

As time went on, I realized my best bet was to avoid her altogether.  My family would call and tell me she was rude, she told them the hotel was booked up and not give them the rooms we reserved for the wedding.  She would argue the names of guest to the guest.  "Your name isn't Sobb you said Bob!!"  If I would call her with a question she would bark back: "Well are you asking me or telling me?"  My best friend tried to surprised us with the Presidential sweet, so she called to arrange it.  Granted, she didn't say "Don't tell her"  but she did say: "We would like to pick up the room key a day before so we can put it in a card and surprise them."  Well she called me and told me.  My friend wasn't happy, and let her know.  At this point its 2 weeks before the wedding and I was very busy, I don't want unnecessary drama.  Well Liz calls me and says "Your friend just called and bitched me out!"  What are we in high school?  I'm not sure what she wanted from me. I let her know it was disappointing but not to worry.  I didn't want to tell my guests what I feared: This chick was a nightmare.

All this is nothing compared to the day of the wedding.  A few people told me she was smoking pot at the wedding, weather that meant she seemed stoned, or they smelled it, who knows.  Honestly, I live in OB and could care less if someone was smoking pot.  My In-laws on the other hand might not agree.  That still wasn't the worst part. During the speeches she walks up too my Mother in-law and hands her a broom.  She says "If I have to touch a broom, it's a $250 fee.  So you better start cleaning." This is when it went on too far.  Is this chick serious?  Does she have any idea how to speak to people?  We have been nothing but nice and normal to this girl and she treats everyone around her like trash! My mother in-law told my sister in-law, she got into it with her and ended up in tears! At that point it everyone took their turn yelling at her, myself included.  Was this the best way to deal with it?  Probably not, but we all have our breaking point and this was mine.

I look back at my wedding and it was a blast. We had a great day. Although it is a shame some of my relatives last memory is the bride cursing out Liz the "Event Coordinator."
