Review from Violet P.
The Inn at Laurel Point is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The check in was quick and the staff very friendly. We loved our room in the Erickson Wing with the 2 sinks, separate shower from tub, and the sliding doors. I would recommend the Erickson Wing, I'm not sure about the other wing but it's worth paying extra for a nicer room. The view of the water from the large balcony was awesome. One evening the sunset was amazing. The service from all staff was pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed a dinner at the hotel restaurant.
One of my favourite additions of the hotel is the garden. It was quiet and perfect for our quaint wedding ceremony by the waterfall. I appreciated there was no cost from the hotel and we arranged our commissioner to meet as at the location. We were also a short walk to the registry to get our marriage license that morning.
The location of the hotel was very convenient. We don't mind walking so it was a short 10 minute or so walk to the Parliment and museum. We also enjoyed walking to the wharf as well.
It was a wonderful stay and I will definitely be back! -

Good and bad.
We booked a super deluxe view suite in the most recently remodeled wing. The good: the room was very nice and nicely appointed. The bad . . . our view was of the roof and an adjoining building. The HVAC makes a ton of racket. It is in the ceiling, and as it warms up, it snaps and crackles and pops, then, when it turns off, it makes the same noises as the duct work cools down. This may seem picky, but it is kind of like that squeak in the dashboard of your car that, no matter how loud you turn the radio, all you can hear is that damn squeak.
We were here in December, so the grounds and patios, etc., were not terribly appealing. However, there were wedding receptions in the facility both nights of our stay. I imagine that there are similar functions throughout the year, and so the grounds will be occupied with such functions.
The location is convenient to the Victoria Clipper, but not much else. Recognize, however, that Victoria is a small place, and so it is only a five minute walk to Government St.
Overall, I just don't think we got the value for what we paid. -
Review from Rachel P.
We took the clipper, arrived in the morning, went to hotel to see if we could check in- we knew we likely couldn't but we left our bags there- they were very nice about it.
We arrived back around 4 for a nap before dinner and we got into the room. It was a nice room, we had a very quiet corner room.
Generally we were very happy. We couldn't get a late check out but again checked our bags with the front desk and left to enjoy the day. we picked our bags up again before grabbing an evening clipper ride home.
Victoria is not a common trip but should we be back, I would stay there again, it was a lovely stay, decent price but very convieient, without being too noisy. -

Very friendly and courteous staff. I booked a room in the old wing, thinking it was in the modern looking/trendy new wing. I was a disappointed when I got there but the front desk upgraded us to the new wing for a discounted price. The room was gorgeous, the staff was amazing, the restaurant is delicious (though a little overpriced, as is most of Victoria). Everyone was accommodating and they are a dog friendly hotel so we were able to bring our little pooch with us.
Also only a two minute walk from the Victoria Clipper terminal. -

While I haven't been here in years, this place is pretty freakin' sweet and it will always be remembered as one of my very favorite hotels. I did, afterall, have my very first penthouse experience here.
The building itself consists of a new and old section (although by now the "new" section is a little old. I've never stayed in the older of the sections, but the newer one has gigantic marble bathrooms with huge tubs and a huge walk in shower. I mean 20 or 30 people could probably fit into one. The rooms (the normal ones that is) are very spacious and if you're facing the garden and water, the view is phenomenal.
The penthouse is absolutely amazing. It's two floors high, has a bedroom the size of Rhode Island, has a nearly 360 degree view and comes with floor to ceiling windows (other rooms do to, but it's just more impressive here).
Any of the rooms in the "new" section will please so long as they face the garden/harbor (it's the side with the better view). It's located about 10 minutes from downtown which means it's really close to everything but it's on the quieter side. Granted this review is based on numerous stays with the most recent one being 5 years ago or so but this place is a lot of fun. -

I have stayed here before and had a wonderful time. This time, not so much. Get to town, we are told we can check in at 3, so we dine, and wonder and come back to sit in the lounge at around 2:15. At 2:30 we check to see if by chance we can get into our rooms. We are told that one is ready but the other one will be in another 10 minutes or so. So at 3, we get our keys, go up to our rooms. Our room wasn't bad..the carpet was stained, but the room appeared to be clean. The other room, was a mess, the bathroom floor was filthy, the garbage had not been taken out, they were missing bulbs in one of the lamps, this room had just been cleaned??? So they called down and housekeeping came up and took care of the floor etc, and when asked about the stained carpet, the responded with "these rooms haven't been up graded yet"..which begs me to ask..why were we not offered the New rooms when we made reservations..and is there a price difference?? So any way, we go about our day. We come back that evening, to noisy neighbours, it was like there was no sound proofing at all, I have stayed in CHEAP MOTELS that were quieter. I called for an extra blanket..and what I got was something that looked like the dog had rejected it, it was horrible.
On to the next morning. Our friends inform us that when they run the water in the sink it smells like sewer, plus to salt to the wound, the head of their bed is adjacent to the ice machine, so when ever anyone got ice, the knew it!!
So we go down to get a cab, and stop by the desk to inform them of our disappointment, and the smell. They were very nice and said that they would move our rooms. So we take off for the day, and return later that afternoon, ready to relax and enjoy our new digs. They moved us one floor up..nice..into smaller rooms..not so nice, oh and right in front of the elavator..the noisiest spot in the joint!!! But on the beds were these wonderful extra blankets..why didn't they bring me one of these??
Usually when you are trying to undo a wrong, and make something better, you go out of your way to go UP instead of DOWN!!
We were very disapponted in the way we were treated, and the staff didn't really seem to care.
One last note..do not bother dining in the Aura..it is way over priced and the food is NOT worth the price!! -

Harborview... sweet! Lobby & first floor were quite trendy... thought I was about to go into a fancy-spancy spot back in NYC. Located in the Inner Harbor area, very close to the night-view locations on the harbor.
Beds comfy, free internet access if you have a laptop, good tea selection.
Fridge not plugged in (but cold enough outside to put whatever you want out on the balcony and not go bad). Hallway carpeting a little worn out.
Otherwise, room was everything you would expect of a 4-star hotel. The artwork on the walls of the room were a nice touch. Good desk space and nice round table to sit by the balcony as well. -
Review from Eddie R.
Fan of the hotel - not a fan of Aura the dining establishment. The food was overpriced and the waitstaff lazy in their delivery and timing. We waited extremely long times to get our food and drinks on two seperate times. Funny - they didn't take nearly as much time to deliver the checks. Stay for the hotel - avoid Aura.

I loved our stay at the Laurel Point Inn. I stayed there over a year ago and had an absolutely enchanting time.
Our guide book recommended that we spring for a room in the recently remodeled pavilion. It was a great suggestion and one I strongly affirm. Not cheap, but worth every penny. The view of the Fairmont Empress from the room and balcony were amazing.
I was a bit concerned that it was far removed from the main town center, but not at all. It was a very pleasant walk to and from.
If I return to Victoria, I will most definitely stay there. I may even request the same room! When I'm stressed, I think of that room, officially my safe space, and I feel better. -

Just got back from a 3-day stay in Victoria at the Inn at Laurel Point where we had a King Studio in the new section. I travel a lot and this was a great hotel. I would definately go back. Here's why:
The room itself was perfect -- trendy decor, huge bathroom and extremely tasteful and relaxing. The bed was super comfortable and the "triple" sheets and duvet made me want to stay in bed all day. The service and staff went out of their way to be helpful, the views from the balconey were beautiful. The location was terrific -- we were within a 15 minute walk from everything on our list to see.
Their signature restaurant, although a bit pricey, was worth every cent - the breakfast offerings were unique and superbly executed. The brunch to my surprise was worth its price -- I would definatley go back. -

This was the 3rd visit to Laurel Point and we were truly looking forward to being there again. It's been a few years since our last stay and I'm not sure what happened but the quality and service have dropped dramatically. The rooms were cleaned poorly if at all. When we complained we were move into smaller rooms, right across from the elevator so the noise level was through the roof. We also were informed that the portion of the hotel we were in hadn't been upgraded yet. When the reservations were made there was no mention of this or offer to upgrade. Top this off with a $16.00 breakfast that Denny's could have beat for $3.95 and we couldn't wait to leave. So much for customer loyalty.

We only had one night in Victoria and I wanted a hotel with good views and secure parking without costing the earth. This hotel is located on a bend in the harbor with views of the main harbor area on one side and the outer harbor on the other. So you can't really go wrong. The parking is in a secured facility just across the road, but this is their own access road, so it's just 25m from the front door with no traffic, so don't be put off. We had a big SUV from Hertz and were a bit concerned about parking it after almost being trapped on the ferry, but there was no shortage of adequate parking spaces. The entry door is card controlled with the room key for both vehicular and pedestrian access, so once you are parked your vehicle is pretty sage, but then Victoria is pretty safe anyway.
When we checked in we got upgraded to a Sunset room, that gave us panoramic views of both sides of the harbor. As we checked in the Coho was just heading out for Port Angeles. The next morning we watched one of the sea planes taxi out and take off.
The bed was the best hotel bed I have slept on in years. We didn't have much time for TV but it was a modern flat screen and fine from what we saw. There is furniture on the balcony, but we were unfortunate to arrive on a very unusual snowy day in November, so we didn't get to use that either.
In the end our only regret was that we didn't stay here for the whole weekend. Victoria is a lovely place and this is a very comfortable and convenient hotel to use as a base for a visit. -

Great Place, If you're looking for a great view. There is an outside patio area where you can watch the planes coming in and people watch. As fo r the food i thought it was pretty decent too. I suggest the seafood clams, oysters etc the staff was very kind as well but nothing much more than what you would expect. Overall its a nice place to relax and enjoy a night.

Nice place, good service. The valet parking is a bonus. The rooms in the new wing are fantastic.

Very disappointing. Room was shabby with stained carpets, chipped furniture and dust under the bed. Staff seemed too busy to care. Not worth the $190 per night price.

We stayed here for about 5 days. We had a nice room in the new wing. It was a 'suite' but was just one large room. Very nice decor, Modern/Asian influence, huge bathroom, hallway had display cases with Japanese antiques. My sister-in-law had a room that cost less in the older wing that had two "rooms". Which was probably the better set up as we were travelling with children. We had the better room however as our furniture wasn't stained and our outdoor patio area was functional. In the old wing, it was like stepping out a window to get to the deck - which was old and falling apart. The location of the hotel is great -- not crammed with the others downtown but within walking distance, very close to the Victoria Clipper Ferry, beautiful views. Food at the restaurant was very good but SLOW and of course pricey. I would consider staying again but I'm the type that likes to try new things so I might try one of the other harborside fancy hotels. I guess it wasn't so over the top wonderful that I couldn't consider other options. Our room was CA $ 239/night. ?Discount because we were there for a wedding.
