Well, if you haven't figured it out, I enjoy books, meaning I really enjoy bookstores.  I like small cute bookstores but I'm a huge fan of Indigo.  There is something about Indigo (the South Common location is my favorite) that I love.  It's all open and airy and best of all you can spend hours just slowly walking around and looking at the books.  If you want to start reading something that is interesting you can sit in the comfortable chairs they have around and read away.  Best of all you can grab a cup of coffee from the Starbucks they have in the store and walk around stress free.

Indigo has a great selection of journals; I love to write, so I'm always on the look out for a good journal.  They also have great gift ideas for newborn babies and for kids too.  I love their selection of stuffed animals; they are just so soft and cuddly (I really want to pick one up for myself never mind for babies).

Now that Christmas is here, Indigo also has great stocking suffers.  I saw these portable speakers made from recycled materials for like $14 for your computer or your iPod; and a pair of headphones also made from recycled materials on for $14.  I wanted them for myself.

The staff there is great.  They are so helpful when it comes to finding your book.  They will check the computers, the shelves and look under stones to track the book down.

I know it's a great place to bring my nieces, who also love books, and let them roam free while I sit back and have some coffee!  It's just a great place to relax.

I remember when this Indigo was out by itself on the edge of the South Edmonton Commons.  The suburban sprawl has now consumed it and to the point that it's not the easiest place to find even when you know where it it.  Indigo and Chapters are owned by the same Corporation and a bookstore by the latter name is just a few miles north.

I particularly like this store because of its nice magazine section to the left and nice gifts (including journals) to the right.  They also usually have a sales table in back, that is usually disorganized and fun to wade through. The layout is open, airy and inviting and it's easy to wander around and enjoy, either standing or sitting.  There's also a Starbucks, although as a Canadian chain, maybe Second Cup would be a better choice.
