Fabulous, spicy Indian food.  An excellent place to stop by and get take out.  Be sure and try the chicken tikka masala---the sauce is masterful.  Samosas are huge and crispy.  Overall, a tiny gem of a restaurant hidden away in an unassuming Alta Vista strip  mall.

My wife and I went out for a rare romantic dinner (hey, I'm working on it!!!). The place we originally tried was closed for a private party, so we wandered around the Bank/Heron area for another option. We both adore Indian, so we decided to give Indian Biriyani House a try. What a surprise this turned out to be. It is a tiny little nothing on the corner of two extremely busy streets. We expected only a handful of selections on the menu and were stunned to find pages of Indian delights - biriyani, curries, tandoori, etc. And everything was available as a chicken, beef, lamb, or vegetable option. We ordered biriyani and butter chicken - mmmm, talk about a delish fragrance! The meal was sweeter than we are used to (lots of currants in the sauce) but yummy. All the dishes were around the $15 range. Naan is $2 apeice. We got complimentary pappadum and apple chutney (which was heavenly!). We opted for spicey Indian teas, but they do serve beer (at $5-$6 a bottle) and wines by the bottle (around $25). Our bill came to $44. Not too shabby for Indian food. The downside was the rather plain decor - some wall hangings would have gone a long way!
