This was a great find. You've likely driven by this place. It's in the strip mall just north of the 118th traffic circle on Groat Road. Yes, next to the tattoo parlour and the cash store, behind the Domo, that's the place.
Do not let the strip mall discourage you. It is rare to find good Indian food this far North in the City. Six nights out of seven, it's a buffet ... a la carte on Sunday. We dropped in on a week night and gorged on the buffet ($16.00 ... yes, $16.00). Though the night wasn't busy, there was a good stream of friendly and appreciative western and Indo customers. The décor is modern and sleek though there is an open Mom and Pop friendliness from the staff and owners which prevents it from being sterile.
The buffet featured vegetable pakoras, curried vegetables, beef vindaloo, butter chicken, dal, tandori chicken, chili fish, jasmine rice ... selections rotate on different days. A small salad and dessert bar is also available. If there is something not on the buffet, you can order it a la carte. A basket of naan is included.
Everything was simply tasty and delicious. The only quibble is that because it's a buffet that has to appeal to a Western palate, nothing had the right level of heat and the butter chicken was made with white meat and not the more flavourful dark. The spicing was otherwise just right on and the food fresh.
I will go back on a Sunday when I can order a la carte and ask them to raise the heat to the right level, but value for money for quality, India Village is a big hit. -

I love this place. I prefer New Asian Village because they have more selection, but India Village has all my favorite items (butter chicken, naan bread, etc) in their buffet and for half the price. I haven't gone at dinner, but at lunch you can always just walk in and sit down. Its too bad their aren't more locations...

Given the location, you wouldn't expect it to look as modern as it does on the inside. Sundays it is a la carte, however, both the butter chicken and fish masala were very good as well as the appetizers ordered, vegetable samosas and fish pakoras. Very good value for the meal we enjoyed as it was very well prepared and well seasoned. Mon-Sat they have their buffet. We'll be going to try that very soon :-]

Great food, great staff and plenty of room. The buffet is great and off the menu the mango chicken with coconut rice is to die for
