this place made me feel like i need to travel more. like i could spend an eternity in india where all this stuff comes from. they have a few different units in the building and i took some time looking through a couple of them.
as i walked through here, firstly i was most excited because their prices felt reasonable. i would come here first for antique goods if i had the money, because i feel like theres a little less hype about the antiqueness of it all. at the same time, perhaps, things might be cheaper in india. dont know the details of bringing it all over. instinctively, i also feel like i could pick a piece from here and i wouldnt feel the need to convert my entire house into one filled with indian furniture. there was something that was a little more humble about its design and it had an upcycling nature to it. For example, one of their pieces was an old crib that was turned into a coffee table, if you can imagine. so in addition to selling pieces as they find them in india, they also take certain objects and up their value (hence, upcycling) by making them more functional.
it also felt pretty peaceful and calm in there, as i was being helped by an indian guy who just rattled off from piece to piece whether it was new, old, made from this, made from that, etc. it doesnt feel corporate at all. they have their entire collection online at http://www.inde-art.com.
i will definitely be checking back from time to time as i decide to add pieces to my home.
