Owner Sarah Anchel does her best to provide you with everything sexy, provocative and um, well, useful, in her little shop on the second floor of Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
There are plenty of sexy (and sexual) treats, gifts, cards, games, toys and costumes to satisfy both you and your partner! In The Mood also provides everything for your next Loverware Party. -

Atmosphere: Small shop with decent and limited selection. Still found what I was looking for and walked out with something, however, at the same time walked out of their disappointed at what could've been offered. No fault of the owners as the space was small. Location is good, however, never heard of the store until I saw a social shopper coupon in my inbox.
Service: With my and sex shops I like to comfortably look around the shop without feeling uncomfortable, however, the owner made me feel uncomfortable as she was intently staring at me the whole time I was shopping. There is a difference between watching me to make sure that I don't steal anything and another to watch me like a hawk which made me feel uncomfortable to even explore my sexual needs and bedroom options. I almost wanted to leave the store for that reason alone, however, stayed 'cause I had a social shopper coupon that I wanted to redeem. I talked to the lady after and she was very sweet and nice, however, the intent staring still creeped me out. She even gave me a tax price break since I was a newbie which was enough for a decent rating and another visit in the future.
Selection: For what they could fit in the store was decent. What they did have which I appreciate is their selection of erotic and how to non and fiction books. Toy selection was nothing special, however, they had some good "starter kits." They had a book that is very hard to find and one of the best books of the subject around (endorsed at one point by Sue Johanson) which was worth the price. This was the prize of the evening.
Price: I had a social shopper coupon which was $60 worth of stuff for $28. The prices were doubled for what I could pay for at the shops on Granville, therefore, the social shopper just made the prices more competitive for me. It also encouraged me to get off my ass (no pun intended) and buy some updated sex toys none the less. -

Great selection of items for both men and women. The proprietor was very friendly & helpful. Interesting shop, but it seems a bit out of place inside the shopping center.

While the selection and location of In the Mood is great and the store is very tasteful the only problem lies with the lack of tact of the staff.
Though I believe it is all with the intent of being helpful and making a sale what happens is the customer becomes uncomfortable.
Most people when entering an adult shop would like to browse without being hunted through the store, and when quietly looking having a staff member 3 -5 feet away staring intently. It's unnerving. Unfortunely having experienced this more than once in the last 4 years I've attempted to shop in the store I'm going to cease going in. I did attempt to speak to one of the staff in regards too it on my last visit which just resulted in her challenging me insisting she was not bothering me and could not grasp that staring at me was making me uncomfortable. I offered to leave all purses, bags etc at the door if the watching was due to shop liftingshop lifting
shop-lifting issues but she continued to argue that she wasn't bothering me.
At a dinner party on the same evening I discovered through talking to others that I am not the only one who has experienced this at the store and they have stopped attempting to shop there as well.
