THE BEST value hamburger around!
I've visited numerous locations. While totally slammed like all the other In N Outs, they were really on-their-game at this location.
Burger & fries cooked perfectly to order. Sat outside on a gorgeous day.
The best part was taking my buddy along, who had NEVER visited an In N Out before (can you believe it!?!) He had a pretty big smile on his face afterwards. ;-) -

So this is the iconic food I've been hearing about for years? Really?
It's ok, as in mediocre. It's not worth waiting in line for.
Sheesh people, get out some, and calm down already. -

Always tasting.
Got here before the rush (before 12 noon).
Double Double Animal Style with chopped chilies + fries well done and a Neapolitan shake (the shake was fantastic highly recommend)
The guy who took the order did not bat an eye on my order "off the special menu".
He even asked if I wanted a glass for water.
What they do here they do it very well. -

This is your standard In-N-Out - and by "standard" I mean, your go-to delicious burger (I got a Double Double with onions, mmm!), fries, and milkshake (strawberry is the best one, IMHO). Service was really fast. It was such a nice day that my friend and I got to enjoy the sunny day outside on the patio area (which had plentiful seating!)
I really can't say enough about In-N-Out; it's one of the few places that actually lives up to the hype. (Okay, disclaimer - I'm a SoCal native, so I *might* be just a tinge biased.) -

Consistently good food and not too long of a wait considering the amount of customers they serve.

There's not a better burger around. Double Double Animal Style! Oh yeah...The people are always friendly which is a plus in my book. You're only as good as your employees. Fast, fresh and always consistant. They have a customer for life here!

You can't be in the West Coast and not go to In-and-Out. Best burger chain, period!

It's In N Out, so you really can't go wrong. But this location is easy to get into and out of, and they do a great job of line management if you are going through the drive-thru. Even though the Sports Arena location is closer to downtown, I always choose this location because it is way easier to get into and out of, as well as get a table or stool if I want to eat in.
Service was also quick and friendly at this location. No better place to get a Double Double than here. And this is coming from someone who has literally had a Double Double flown from LA to DC to get my east coast fix. -

I wish the line wasn't always so long!
I do live just up the street though, which is fun.
I LOVE their milkshakes. My god, yum. I'm personally a vanilla fan.
Make sure if you are ordering your food animal style, to be specific about what parts you want animal style. If you say "Number 2, animal style" it will only be on the burger, and not on the fries! Say both "burger" and "Fries" so that you will get both!
On my animal style I don't like the grilled onions so I ask for them without and it is still super delicious. Yum.
The staff is always friendly, even when they are very busy. That means a lot to me.
I would eat here more, but I'm trying to lose weight.
Sigh. -

The burgers are obviously on point, but the fries have never impressed me. The only thing that can redeem them is to dip em' in a chocolate shake, which is actually pretty bomb. And the service at almost all In N Out's is beyond friendly, almost to a point where I don't trust them. In N Out is what it is, simply solid.

I've been wolfing down in-n-out burgers since I've been wearing diapers.Their food is always fresh, tasty, and worth the cash.Yes,we have other burger joints such as five guys, smash burger,&burger lounge. In -N-out is legendary and has earned my loyalty.
That is how you get a 5 star review! -

This place is a life-saver!!!
I'm on temporary duty (one week) in Mission Valley and I'm craving for a really good burger. Something fast and something delicious. This place delivers.
I know that there are other places around this "neck of the" that probably serve a better burger, but in my line of work, I really don't have the time to sit down in a nice restaurant and wait for a waitress/waiter to be helped. The "Car-Port" takes my order, the cars move along pretty fast, and I get my food...simple as that! And the Mission Valley IN N OUT is very good at that.
A 4 star rating because it's a good burger, but certainly not the best. I wish they had more varieties. -
Review from Dalton N.
I love In N Out Burger!!!!!!! This is my high end fast food joint.
Went here last night after a snowboarding trip. One of my friend's never ate In N Out before, so we had to take her to see what she was missing.
I always order a crazy custom burger. I was surprised and happy that the cashier that helped me, Sarah, I think, got my order right the first time and was pretty speedy on it. I know this because I used to work there around 10 years ago and in order to get my order right, you have to go through 3 different menus to choose the right ingredients for the burger.
The burger and fries themself, spot on. The place, busy as usual. The decor is all standard to any In N Out joint. Too bad they don't open up more eastward because I do get the craving when I'm not on the west coast. -

I visited three times in the last five days during my journey out west.
For fast food, and good food fast, this is as good as it gets. The only negatives are the douchebag Californians they attract. You know who you are.
Great service, great burgers, fries--they need a large size, other than that this place is perfect. If you can find a place to park and if you can find a place to sit. -

So I should preface by saying that I'm from Nebraska. You know, where beef comes from. This trip to In N Out was actually my second. I attended a wedding in Petaluma several years ago, and when my date picked me up from the airport she INSISTED that I try In N Out. I thought I had missed something because I'd only ever heard endless adulation for the place but my initial thought was "meh."
Now, for a fast food burger it is pretty good. I mean pretty good as in above average. Again, see my Nebraskan-ness. Compared to Burger King or Wendy's, no brainer. Compared to Runza or Tastee In and Out (both Nebraskan, pretty sure the latter ripped off the name) I don't think it can hold its own.
I ordered my burger Animal Style at the behest of a coworker and it was better than I remember from my initial trip. The burger has good flavor and the meat makes the brain think "Oh, actual dead cow." I'm a crispy fry guy, so the fries at In N Out just aren't for me.
I still sort of feel like I'm missing something, but then the smart part of my brain realizes that I just grew up spoiled when it comes to all things cow. -

Always consistent, always good. When you do something right you stick with it, and that's just what in-n-out offers. By far the best "fast food" burgers out there. There's a lot of places with bigger, and more expensive burgers, but if you're on the go and want a classic this is the place. Just don't expect some type of gourmet 6 lb burger, covered with more toppings than a deep dish, supreme pizza!

Great customer service, consistent product, my go to in and out burger spot! Drive thru gets backed up all the way onto the street when busy!

I've given In N Out 4 chances to "wow" me......it's just a typical burger joint. Prices are awesome, but burgers are ordinary. Yes, I've tried the animal style fries too. Too much onions for me. It's ok. If I am starving, craving for plain burgers & fries, AND have no where else to go I'll go here again. Personally, I like Smashburger MUCH, MUCH better. :-)

I think you guys need to work on your customer love. I ordered my fries well done, and they were completely normal.
I also ordered my burger with peppers in it, and you threw them in the sauce under the burger.
But I got engaged that night, so I guess that's good. But seriously, cook my fries more if I order them that way. Not cool. -

6.25.11: Oh Jeez, Long lines at Midnight..Bro swears he can't go to bed til he comes here. His statement "I would totally move from Hawaii back here just for In N Out". Very bold statement..If you have been to Hawaii, you will now understand the LOVE he has for this place.
I like ti too my favorite is grill cheese animal style with Neapolitan shake.

This must be the busiest In-N-Out in San Diego. I don't think I've ever spent less than 20 minutes just trying to order. The food is superb as always, but man, the wait just flat out sucks. Also the parking isn't the best, but the food is so friggin' good.
Try ordering a flying dutchman . . . -

This place seems to ALWAYS be busy.
Whether it's the weekend and shoppers from the nearby stores are stopping by for a bite to eat, or it's during lunch or dinner, or if it's near midnight and people need to satisfy their demanding munchies ... this place always has a line snaking the parking lot.
Line looks long but it's somewhat worth the wait and it goes by quick. They always have someone outside taking orders.
They make my grilled cheese with grilled onions really well here! It tends to differ a bit between locations. Seems to include more lettuce and just a more satisfying sandwich.
Also, when I ask for extra spread, they tend to give me TWO packets (one for my sandwich and one for my fries) which is a major PLUS! I hate looking like a fatty and asking for another. -

I love In n Out. While we lived out of state I dreamed about In n OUt and we stopped at this location as soon as we landed back here.
Why? Well, unlike virtually every other fast food chain on the planet, they have their own beef supplier, so they know they're not getting an ammonia washed ground beef product amassed from a thousand different sources. This means the burgers are yummy and that Jamie Oliver nor Michael Pollan will not appear with a burning pitchfork to burn it down. -

Classic style hamburger and fries! Love this place ever since I was a kid. I like this In N Out location, very friendly staff and quick service.
You can never go wrong with a burger at this place - 5 stars! -
Review from Hector C.

They are no Jack-In-The-Box when it comes to variety, but their burger and fries are amazing! Fresh, quality ingredients are key. There's also ways to take advantage of extras without being charged extra! I order my burger with extra veggies. You could also add pickles or pepperchinis, and you could opt to have ketchup and mustard instead of their secret sauce, or have it all!! The sauce is so yummy and now come in packages, so I always ask for a couple, but I take them home to put on home-made sandwiches later!! I also like to get my fries well done, which is yummier and crispier, but more unhealthy I'm sure.
Everything's made to order, so it will take time. This place is pretty much always packed. I also think they offer discounts to police and firemen?
They have great customer service. Rarely do I complain here, but if I do, I am taken care of. I am confident they won't spit in my food, because they are cooking right in front of me!
I am so blessed to be living in a city with so many In N Outs around! -

Easily my favorite fast food burger chain. I always get the number 1, double double with fries and a strawberry shake. I know what to expect out of the place, and I always leave satisfied. The service is actually pretty fast too, since its very busy at lunch time with all the businesses nearby.

I didn't think that a double double with grilled onions and ketchup + mustard instead of spread could get any better, but I just found out that you can add peppers to your burger. It adds a whole nother dimension of deliciousness that I didn't think was possible.
It makes me kind of sad though, to think that through the span of my In-N-Out eating career, I had not known about this. I feel slightly cheated. And even more slightly embarrassed. -

Fast, cheap, and good. Also open late. As a burger chain this company really has it's act together.

Loyal customer of In N Out Burger since 1979. There is nothing better in the fast food realm. Not much else to say, it is what is and it's the best of what it does.

HI MY NAME IS PETE C. AND I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER ONE BILLION DOUBLE DOUBLES PLEASE!!..... yeah right, I would have a heart attack by the 5th double double and never get to eat In n Out ever again...TRAVESTY!!
But on the reals fellow Yelpers, In N Out is the primo fast food burger joint in the state of CA! Such a simple menu, very reasonable prices. Plain fast and efficient. I also enjoy the worker bees at the Drive Thru because you know that your burger will be made in time right after you pay. They got that -ish on lock down!
The place is usually clean, ketchup bar usually stocked, bathrooms clean too! And as always their burgers are just plain awesome goodness!! Although the lines at this MV In N out, maybe a little long, they do work their hardest to get it out fast.
P.S. LOVE YOUR STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKES!!!
SYU declares "If you're from out of state, In N Out is a staple of CA!!!!" pom pom -
Review from Madeline B.
San Diego, CA
It's no secret that In-N-Out has been serving up California's tastiest & freshest burgers since 1948, but for those of us that have kicked the meat-eating habit -- hope is not lost! Order a grilled cheese with grilled onions for the full experience without the inevitable carnivorous guilt. It's pretty much a guarantee that you'll be raping your wrapper when the deed's done, gnawing off the last morsels of gooey cheese and salty oniony goodness. Don't be embarrassed, embrace it. It's all part of the beauty of In-N-Out.
This particular location can be a real bitch to get into, what with the drive-thru line that wraps all the way around the parking lot and pours into the street and the hundreds of greedy San Diegans seeking their burger fix, but the noms are certainly worth the stress of getting there. The best time to go for minimum congestion is right at opening (10:30 AM) or around closing (ahem... not that I've been eating grilled cheese sammiches at 1 AM..) and every other time is like a personal death sentence. Enjoy! :) -

I've been com in to In N Out since I was a kid and don't see my trips there ending anytime soon. The Double-Double animal style with Animal style fries is the way to go if you want to indulge in pure cheesy deliciousness. Another great thing to look into is their secret menu, which diverts from the classic In N Out menu of Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Double Double.
Since I have been coming to In N Out for over 20 years, it is hard to convince me that a place like 5 Guys is better then In N Out. A coworker suggested that, I tried, and disagree completely. In N Out and 5 Guys are two COMPLETELY different styles of burger joints. If you are wanting to stick to a classic burger and fresh cut french fries, In N Out is the place to go. If you want a burger with ALL the fixings for relatively cheap and mediocre fries (no comparison to In N Out fries), 5 Guys is the place.
I guess, when it comes to a great traditional burger and fries, I am a purist. In N Out any day. -

I cant believe i am rating In N out.
AND I CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RATING OF IN N OUT!!
Its in n out we are talking about here, fabulous, delicious, amazing burgers made by unusually friendly-happy people dressed in white and a small half/apron held up by an enormous safety pin.
Secret menu? WHAT SECRET MENU?! its no secret they aim to please, ask for anything, they will try to accomodate.
Just go, log off yelp and go eat a mouth watering In N out burger! -

As someone from Illinois, hamburgers and fries is not something that I take jokingly...
Well In-N-Out is NO JOKE! This place is phenominal! I drove around trying to find one and I noticed the huge line coming from the Drive-Thru... it was lunch rush so that was a good sign, however I was a bit worried I would have to wait FOREVER... I pulled into the parking lot and right into a spot. Good start already.
I go in and was greeted by a super friendly cashier... as someone used to Taco Bell, McDonalds, and Burger King... this was a huge surprise.
I ordered a Double Double, Animaly Style, with chopped chiles, and an order of frieds, Animal Style, with chiles.
THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! I was worried about the natural fries... I am not a big potato eater, but was delighted! These fries were to die for.
The burger, was clearly fresh meat, and was just delicious.
All around amazing! I wish I still had my rent-a-car because I could go for some In-N-Out right now! -

Yet another over-hyped food outlet on Yelp.
Yes, In and Out Burgers are good. They get 4 stars. No, not 5, they're not that good.
However, what drops this experience to two stars is the ridiculously long lines that aren't just out the parking lot, but they're off the property and into the street. Yes, the lines are so long and perplexing that they don't just knock off one star from this review, but two.
What's perplexing about them is why, why would people sit in a tremendously long line like downtrodden Soviet peasants for some spiced ground meat on a bun? Tell me people, are you really that much of a sheep that you're going to wait for 20 minutes sitting in your car to get a fast-food hamburger? Really? What does that say about you? I might wait 20 minutes for a table at Mille Fleurs, but even that's pushing it.
Since I work in the area I'm unfortunately forced to eat lunch in Mission Valley, which can be a real nightmare. So what I do is head over to In and Out and, if the drive-thru has more than 4-5 cars in line, I'll go to one of the places nearby. If not, I'll get the In and Out. This means I eat In and Out maybe once a month, because the place is packed from the moment it opens until the moment it closes.
I'm thinking that most people who are waiting like chimps in their cars for a slab of meat on bread are teenagers. Would adults really do that? I'm afraid to ask.
