I am a black woman and since I moved to Edmonton I've been getting many hair products from this store. They stock relaxers, hair colour, styling products, hair extensions, wigs, etc. Owner is knowledgeable and nice, sales associates are quite nice and helpful. They have 4 locations in Edmonton, and although some are better stocked than others, they will look up what you want and let you know where to get it.

Images and Shades is a beauty supplies store mostly known for its great selection of human and synthetic hair extensions. I came here with one of my female friends who was looking to amplify her already amazing mane with human hair extensions. We spend a good hour at Images and Shades while the sales associate assisted my friend in choosing the right shade of extensions and demonstrated how to put them in properly. I don't care about extensions, so I browsed the store. My God, is this store stocked from top to bottom! There are tons of hair and skin care products, hair tools and accessories, make-up and then some. I was unfamiliar with most of the brands but this is to be expected since Images and Shades caters to salons and spas and not your average consumer.

The ladies who work at this shop never have a bad hair day. I & S is a distributor of everything to do with hair. There is a wide selection of human hair wigs, ranging from about $60 to $100. There are also synthetic ones for less. So if you fancy yourself a part-time red head, but don't want to dye it, a wig is a perfect accessory for going out (or staying in!) to spice things up a bit. There is every hair product imaginable here, from lacquer and relaxing creams to hair spray and hair goop. There also seems to be a wide variety of products for African-American women, including hair relaxants, straighteners, darker make-up, etc.
