Review from Jeff G.
How often do you get to go on a boat near the Arctic Circle to look for Icebergs and Humpback whales? I'll venture to say not very often. The drive to Twillingate is like a drive back in time. Pristine farm houses dot the northern NewFoundland landscape. You can definitely tell that you aren't near a metropolis. We only saw about 10 cars pass us in the hour before we got to the town. The town itself is very quaint...A Mayberry of Canada. After we paid our boat fee, Rick welcomed us aboard in his Canadian brogue. His knowledge of the bay was incredible and his stories about the town's history was fascinating. On the tour, we saw two bald eagles and 4 whales along with a couple of seals. Apparently, liberals were right about global warming because all of the icebergs had either melted or hadn't yet reached that part of the island or maybe it was just summer. After our two hour tour, we returned back to the port, a little smarter about cold weather maritime operations and also more appreciative of the beauty that exists in NF.
This place deserves 5 stars for it's service but I downgraded it one star because I felt cheated that we didn't actually see an iceberg and therefore we failed our quest.
