this is one of the best sushi in seattle area.
you can have either Brian or Masa to prepare the sushi for you, the way how we should be prepared. ( Omakase )and be prepared to be amazed.
this place got everything you can think of from the sushi fanatic perspective. great combination of the fresh ingredient to the right mixture of sushi rice. -

My review is purely on chirashi and the trio roll combo:
i used to love the chirashi, but every time it just gets worst. The sashimi gets lesser and thinner.... sometimes i just thought it was the lunch menu, but one time i really crave for it at night, so i still paid for the ridiculously overpriced, thinking that it is somewhat more worthy than the lunch portion. But i was wrong! it is almost the same portion and look even lesser.... pretty stupid i'd say.... why don't i just go to uwajimaya and get the cheap chirashi. so... NO MORE CHIRASHI.... prob will just order sashimi + rice ( if there'll ever be a next time)
the trio roll combo... is a gamble. 50/50.... sometimes it's good. at times, they just stuff you with thick layer of rice like the ones you buy at supermarket..... -

I have never been treated so rudely and with such little regard as a customer.
Turn your back on me and chat with staff AS I'm standing there?
Turn back and laugh at me as I'm walking out?
I will never set foot in this place again. I don't even care enough to write up something clever.
In this case, this place sucks and they treated me with rudeness and contempt.
Never again.
Wish I could give them a zero star rating. -

This restaurant is not the cleanest out there. I was seated in the lower deck and was promptly served my edamame and green tea. Then I noticed suite a few uninvited guests on my table... a few bugs crawling on the walls, tablecloth, and on the table itself. I told the waitress and she quickly moved us to a booth. I think this could be die to their grimy carpet and dirty cloth chairs, but the booth was all cloth but I did not find any more bugs. Not to mention, the bugs were crawling very close to where they store and prepare the sashimi.
I ordered a bento box and a couple rolls along with tuna and salmon sashimi. Sashimi was good but the rest of the food was not well prepared. Rolls were clumsy and too big. They would not hold properly when picked up with chopsticks, bento box would have been good if we had been served teriyaki chicken as described on the menu instead of some chicken that tasted like it was left uncovered in their fridge overnight. Not to mention that it was not teriyaki chicken at all, more like microwaved chicken.
I suggest you look at their king county restaurant inspection records before you go, I reckon you'll change your mind seeing that you will be eating raw fish
In the end the waitress offered us some complimentary ice cream. Service was good but food was not satisfactory. For this kind of food for the kind of price they are charging, I won't be back after this first try. -

Hands down my favorite sushi place in the world! Great service and great food. I've been here numerous times and I've never had a bad experience here so I'm giving this place 5 stars.

I was there on Mother's day with my husband and daughters. I was really upset how the host was acting unprofessionally. If I were manager, I would not put the guy looking so depressing in front of the house!
Restaurant was pretty busy and I did not get to talk to server much but we were happy with food and service. Towards end of meal, I finally started having conversation with our server. Less than 30 sec after I started asking him questions, the host was passing by in front of our table and poke the server's back with their MENU and told the server something in Japanese.. so the server excused himself and rushed back to his work without even finishing our conversation.
My family was upset seeing such a unprofessional manner by the HOST!
First of all, in any kind of professional business, nobody interfere with the conversation with customer like this. This person should have excused himself with me first and talked to the server.
We all felt like we were under valued as a customer, especially we are over paying for what you get and we will never going back to this place!
I hope these workers in this restaurant are getting right treatment by these management! -

went there for friday lunch.
Service was still the same, just ordered sushi lunch rather than Omakase. The miso soup was downloaded (no clams this time) and the nigiri was fine just not as fresh as omakase.
Truely you get what you pay for.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This is my favorite real Japanese cuisine in Bellevue. Their sushi is wonderful and so fresh. My favorite dessert is tempura ice cream vanilla flavor. Yum!

Went here for dinner a week or so ago and I am still have dreams about it!
Everything here, the service, the drinks, the food, the location is lovely.
Had the Lychee Martini with appetizers and it was very nice, nice and STRONG :)
Appetizers - Seaweed Salad, pretty good, not finely chopped enough for me, but the dressing was really well made and nice and light on the salad. Oysters on the half shell, wonderful, super fresh and the spice on top was perfection. Seared Beef tongue, OK, first time trying this and I think it was a little overcooked, made with a great sauce though.
Dinner - Albacore Sushi was PERFECT, so fresh, mmmmmmm. Sea Urchin Sushi OK, kinda strange, not my favorite, but my boyfriend (who likes sea urchin) said it was wonderful. (this was another first try for me.) Spicy Mango Chili Roll forget the fish that was in it, but I do remember wanting to eat it forever. I would definitely recommend this for anyone, sushi lover or first time tryer. It was SO good. Spicy Tuna Roll was wonderful, with a nice heat the grows in your mouth after you finish the bite.
Dessert - Seriously who care about dessert, we skipped that and got the Lobster Roll. Which was Epic. Totally and completely everything I have ever hoped for in a roll of sushi, completely worth the price tag.
Final Statement - We will be back :) -

Seattle, WA
Although this place does a good job in setting up a bit of a nicer atmosphere, it is quite overrated and overpriced. The presentation of all the food is done very well, but the portions are TINY and you are left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. The appetizers are extremely small and usually cannot be shared between more than two people. The rolls are only half decent because the rice is a little dry and their variety isn't that great (most of the rolls are filled with imitation crab). Their raw fish is decent, nothing to rave about though. That is not to say that their food is not good, but it should be priced significantly lower.
I probably will not find myself coming back here simply because there are plenty of other better sushi places that will give you much more food for what you pay. -

One of the better sushi places on the east side. Love the ambiance and great service. Our weekly place to have sushi :)

This is a great location that serves fresh sushi and some unique and authentic dishes in a slightly upscale environment- my only pushback is that this place is more expensive than Maneki or Izumi. However, this is still a great place for nigiri and drinks.

Great quality sushi. Nice setting. The staff is top notch. Very good and knowledgable. If you can sit in the lower section or the bar. They have outdoor seating when the weather gets nice. Good lunch specials as well.

Review from Diana C.
It's a nicer atmosphere than the one right off NE8th, but the prices are more expensive and in my opinion, not really warranted. The presentation is nice and the portions are okay but on the smaller side. The appetizers are different (more fancy) and a bit smaller than the other location. Overall, i'd sacrifice ambiance for good food any day...

Bellevue, WA
I honestly thought this place was really overpriced and overrated. My boyfriend's mother is from Japan, so he is used to very traditional sushi fare and Japanese cuisine. He said this restaurant was genuine in that respect, which was a big deal to him.
I thought it was waaaay overpriced for a casual dinner. Between a normal dinner for my boyfriend and I, it was about $100....at a sushi restaurant. We didn't even order a meal.
I won't be coming back without my Boyfriend and his strong strong desire to go because it wasn't anything special for me. -

Went to the Lake Bellevue location for dinner. This is one of the best Sushi places I have ever been to and I have been to the Iron chef's place in NYC.
Drinks: Lychee Martini was actually quite nice and not all girlied up. My favorite though is the Koshihikari beer. Its simple one of my favorite beers ever.
Appetizers: Duck Breast was off the HOOK! Perfectly seasoned and cooked duck breast sliced thin on top greens with a tangy sauce.
Agedashi Tofu was equally yummy perfect blend of tofu and sauce made it a great complement to the duck.
Dinner:
The O-toro was amazing and so was the Usuzukuri and Yellowtail Toro sashimi. Perfectly sliced and melt in your mouth. Mmmmmmmm just thinking about it as I write this is making me drool a little.
Sukiyaki was perfect with great broth and lots of tofu, veggies and meat to nom on.
Spicey Mango Chili Roll is different having both crab and crab cake inside. The sweet mango chili sauce is a perfect complement. Definitely two thumbs up and a snap for this one.
Lobster roll was crazy nomable. The spicey jalepano sauce gave it a little zip and really enjoyable.
Dessert:
Mochi what else!!?? mango and green tea Mochi made a perfect end to an amazing meal.
Service was absolutely amazing. I didnt have a reservation on Friday night but didnt wait long for a perfect table overlooking the lake. Our waiter had great thoughts and recommendations and was prompt with all things. Everyone there was the perfection of service.
Can't wait to go back. Nom Nom Nom. -

We went to I Love Sushi based on the Yelp reviews. I was a little worried with some of the recent reviews, but we had excellent sushi. The seaweed salad was a little off, but all our rolls were excellent and modestly sized. I've had sushi in NYC, Florida, Utah, Washington, California, to name a few and this was up there in terms of freshness. However, the service was perfunctory and sub par at best. I had to ask twice for a water refill and they were not especially busy and it took forever to close our check. I Love Sushi has incredibly modest decor and if you're looking for ambiance, this may not be the place. I love eating at dives and I would have to say this place, set back within a strip mall set off of 8th street, definitely falls in this category. I'm also OCD when it come to cleanliness and was horrified by the state of the windowsills (crazy, I know) that had tons of dust, rice and other food particles. Other than that, it was a clean place.
Overall, excellent food, okay service, and the prices are reasonable. -

Good quality seafood and decent prices.
Their bento boxes are a good deal for lunch, it changes, but last time it was chicken teriyaki, sashimi, rice, miso, tmpura, and 2 pieces of spicy roll. It was a good portion for the bf and I to split as a mini meal before dinner. I believe it was $12.95 and $14 something after tax.
Service was prompt when I called in for to go. -

Renton, WA
Currently, this is my favorite sushi restaurant ever. I come from Renton just to go to this place, and I LOVE it. Highly recommended.
The fish is always delicious, I'm rather addicted to their Sockeye Salmon nigiri and their Spicy Ahi Tuna Roll. Their hot dishes are also really delicious, but I admit I'm mostly there for the sushi.
The staff is always friendly and welcoming, they always remember us every time we come and also seem to remember what sushi and sake we like to have.
The prices are a bit expensive, but I feel it's worth it for the occasional sushi outing. -
Review from Allie S.
We came here recently as part of a group of 8 for a friend's birthday dinner. She is a vegetarian and they were very accommodating as far as making her an off-the-menu entirely veggie roll, which was great! Due to some confusion, we originally thought the dinner would be at the Bellevue Main location rather than the Lake Bellevue location -- seeing as they are only about a block away from each other, moving from one restaurant to the other was no problem at all :)
Water and tea were kept full by our super friendly server Yusuke.
Boyfriend and I shared three things, all of which were delicious:
Crunchy Roll $11.00 - shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado with tempura bits
Spicy Salmon Roll $8.00 - habanero flavored fish roe, mayo and avocado
Masa's Gyoza $6.50 - homemade pork dumpling with chilli soy vinaigrette sauce [this on the menu in the restaurant was listed as Kurobuta pork gyoza or something similar]
All items were flavorful, fresh and deliciousss! Not my tab to pick up so I was fine with the pricing, but I'm more of a budget [dare I say kaiten?] sushi kind of girl so as I look at the prices while I write up the review, I kind of have a mini spaz attack.
The rolls were large and filling, and my boyfriend nearly single-handedly destroyed the gyoza.
We'll definitely be back, maybe to try their special Valentine's dinner special! -

I wish I could give this restaurant 3.5 stars if I could, but yelp won't let me :D
We came here on a weekday and it was pretty busy. The hubby ordered sashimi and he found it to be okay, it wasn't fantastic but it wasn't horrendous either. I ordered wakame salad, agedash tofu, softshell crab hand roll, and saba shioyaki (grilled mackerel), which was all REALLY good. I especially loved how the saba was prepared, grilled to perfection. Hubby also ordered the crunchy roll, which was mediocre, definitely not something to pine over.
The service was excellent, although our waitress reminded me of the tazmanian devil because she was all over the place. Hubby said she was "well traveled." -
Review from Amanda J.
I was a little confused to discover that there are two "I Love Sushis" right across the parking lot from each other.. The "Lake Bellevue" location is the fancier of the two, with slightly higher prices, and slightly higher quality. I'm equally happy to go to either!
The service is very friendly and attentive, and the food came out surprisingly quickly. My friends ordered some rolls and the sushi dinner, and I ordered the sashimi dinner. My sashimi was sooooo fresh and delicious and amazing, and came in a really generous portion (I *almost* couldn't finish it all.) My friends loved the Caterpillar Roll and the spicy tuna roll, as well as the sushi dinner.
I Love Sushi is definitely my Eastside sushi joint of choice :) My only tip is to make a reservation - we went on a Sunday night without one and had a 40 minute wait. The other location around the lot doesn't take reservations (as far as I'm aware), but usually has much shorter waits. -

My bf's fam lives in Bellevue, I've been waiting for a long while to try this place and I finally got the chance last week. It was amazing!
Really REALLY good sushi, and really really good hot tea served all through the meal. The interior was fancy but not in that oh-man-I'm wearing-this?!?! sort of way. -
Review from Sharon L.
The quality of sushi here is amazingly fresh. I know this because my dad works for a Seafood import/exporting company. He travels all over the place and has tasted a lot of fresh sushi. This is his favorite spot when he wants to go out for sushi. They also have really good udon! Parking is a little annoying if it gets busy but other than that, it's worth a crappy parking spot!

This is as good as it gets for sushi and more. When you get to be a regular and recognized by Toshi the manager, Masa the Executive Chef/Owner, Tatsu sushi guy extraordinaire, Eichi (Joe) the GM, they will create stuff not on the menu. Namako, special rolls, special plates like a sashimi platter with special fish. Had a chilled stuffed lobster tail the other night! OMFG!!!!!
Fish is first rate. I am from Hawaii and accustomed to seeing the absolute freshest fish and ILSLB is right up there. That means the sushi guys are experts at handling and storing fish to keep them ichiban. Portions are good sized. Japanese food is not about huge portions but rather precise, beautiful presentations. These guys make plates worthy of pictures.
Good Japanese food is pricey. Expect to pay about $50 per head for a good meal with top quality sashimi, sushi and hot entrees, and sake. My better half loves the Maguro don (Tuna on sushi rice similar to a chirashi) not on the menu but as sushi fanatics know, just ask.
Good selection of sakes and specials on flights for those learning about sake.
They used to make a green tea creme brulee. Please Masa san bring it back even if it is only a special. Duck breast....OMG! You can feast on small plates all night. Kurobuta Gyoza...YUM! Crispy Salmon belly is what we from Hawaii call unreal pupus.
Here's a tip for those new to sushi. Watch the sushi guy slice the fish. It should be a single knife stroke toward himself from the back of the knife blade to the tip. Sawing means the knife is dull and the fish cells are damaged and the result is moisture loss to the fish that he puts back in the case which means the next person to get a slice from that block gets drier fish. Second, a freshly cut slice should glisten when held up to the light and viewed at an angle. That means well cared for, fresh fish. Microscopic bubbles of moisture cause this as they are released when the slice is cut. Trust me you will taste the difference. When visiting a new place, eat a piece of raw fish with nothing on it. Qualities like taste, moistness, texture will be quickly obvious. ILSLB fish passes this every time. Masa san runs a very tight ship and it shows.
You can get a loyalty card which will give you a 10% discount. Might not seem like much but at $50 a head it helps.
Trust me even if you don't live in Bellevue it's worth the trip. There are two ILS next to each other. Masa is at the one over the lake. Go see him. -
Review from Karen L.
This is what you should expect from an authentic Japanese restaurant. Dinner is a bit too pricey, but sometimes you have to pay a little extra for quality. Boyfriend and I shared a chirashi dinner and some rolls with a couple other friends, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish. Granted, the chirashi was 30 bucks, and you don't actually get a lot for what you pay for, but it kinda gives you the incentive to savor each slice and morsel of fish, no? Maybe, but I personally wouldn't eat here often, though when you're in the mood to splurge for a fantastic and authentic Japanese dinner, I Love Sushi is one of your best bets.
Service here was great as well, and I like being greeted enthusiastically by the staff--makes you feel like a genuinely appreciated customer. -

I've only eaten here once. Service was outstanding and the interior is really nice. Dinner sets are roughly ~$30, served with chawan mushi, soup, and salad. I ordered the chirashi (sashimi over sushi rice). The fish was great quality, but for the first time ever in a sushi restaurant I had a small bone in one of the fish slices. The chawan mushi (savory egg custard) seemed also underseasoned; definitely didn't compare to my favorite JP restaurant back in SF, Takara, which introduced me to chawan mushi first.
I'll likely be back here eventually since it's close to my new home, but I'm not initially impressed so far at the value. I had a better time at Ginza downtown. -

Much better than the other Bellevue I Love Sushi. Better atmosphere, better view, etc.
But one of my dishes took 45 minutes to arrive. Forty-five effing minutes! What? And they only gave us some mochi ice cream as a consolation. I appreciate the gesture, but 45 minutes = 2 mochi balls? I don't think so.
Since I'm making a yelp list of 100 Japanese joints in the area, I need to differentiate somehow. 45-minutes for geoduck = low on my list.Listed in: 100+ Seattle Japanese Joints

Review from Kat L.
For most people, they look at the price and get scared! My god this sushi is worth every penny! Their tuna is such good quality it has a silky feel like Sock Eye Salmon in your mouth. Their California rolls use real crab and are delicious!
If you are going with someone for the first time try the Dinner for 2 ($50), it's a great way to try their nigir and basic rolls. You get 10 pieces of nigiri (5 each), and choose 3 (out of about 5 choices) rolls. My partner and I got California roll, Seattle Roll (Tuna, Avocado, and roe), and a spicy tuna roll. They bring it in a stacked bento box, the first one has the nigiri nicely separated so each person sushi is on their side of the table, and the rolls in the other. It also comes with miso and salad!
As a college student, I personally can't afford it for every sushi fix, but it will be my place when I got money to burn!
