If you're a fan of starch, starch, and more starchy goodness, do yourself the favor of a lifetime and stop in here.
The owner Carlos knows his dough and makes fresh noodles and dumplings daily. The density and perfectly cooked (al dente) noodles/dumplings really shine through, even with the delicious accompaniments.
I have tried the Shanghai Pork soup noodles, potstickers, and Shanghai steamed soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) here, and all have been incredible.
Credit cards NOT accepted, and if you're from the States you'll have to pay cash unless you have a Canadian debit card. -

While standing in an hour-long line to return a cable box to Shaw, I engaged in a conversation with a man from the prairies who complained about the poor quality and inauthenticity of Chinese restaurants in Victoria. I then recommended I Kyu Noodles to him, despite only dining there once.
The restaurant itself is unassuming, complete with dark red decor that hasn't been updated since the 1930s.
But I greatly enjoyed my noodle dish, which featured some sort of spiced ground pork, over fresh chow mein noodles. And garlic was involved somewhere.
And the best part was that it wasn't too greasy.
I Kyu also sells its noodles and sauces out of a refrigerator case. -

I stumbled upon this little gem by fluke on a chilly fall day while visiting Victoria. I was craving a warm bowl of soup and a cozy spot to eat it in. Little did I expect to find some of the best homemade noodles and Chinese dumplings (prepared by the very charming and talented chef Carlos Chan - a 4th generation noodle maker no less!) that I've ever had. Exquisite, melt in your mouth noodles and the broth on their Wonton soup intensely flavourful, well balanced and not too salty.
Located on Fisgard street just as you enter Victoria's Chinatown off Government, it's evidently a well frequented haunt of the neighborhood's cognoscenti. Do not pass up any opportunity to stop in or pick up takeout of these simply divine noodles and dumplings. Heck, it's even worth a trip over to Victoria for their Wonton soup alone. However, if you do, just make sure to phone ahead to ensure he's open. Noodle wizard that he is, apparently his hours are a tad inconsistent. -

I just happened to go in here the other day, and I was pleasantly surprised.
For me the draw was the sign in the window advertising a 4th generation noodle maker who makes everything fresh daily. Since Konpira closed I was worried about that I would not find a place in Victoria to eat genuinely fresh and delicious udon noodles. Anyways, the udon noodles here are delicious. They are made fresh daily, as are the wontons (which were also great).
The interior looks a little dated, but is clean and since they are just getting on their feet I'm sure it will change as they get busier. The service was super friendly.
The awesome thing is that they sell everything in store, so you can take it home too. You can get a container of their udon for like $2, the pork juicy buns are 30 for $9 and they have a freezer and display case full of all the other delicious things they make (including dressing, kimchi, gyoza, wontons etc.) -

If you walk from the Clipper up Govt St about 3/4 mile & you'll get to Fisgard St. In Chinatown. The place is right across the street on the left side. It is a small hole in the wall restaurant. The Dan Dan noodle dish was outstanding. It was kind of sweet with hints of cilantro (it isn't a soup). The miso noodle soup was excellent. The broth was superb & it was better than what I had in Waikiki. The coconut shrimp noodle soup was bland after having the spicy won ton appetizer. The spicy won ton was spicy but in an edible way. The juicy bun was small steamed won ton & I would say it was the best of the appetizers. The gyoza was good too. The won ton soup was ok & the won ton had shrimp in it. Be sure to let them know if you are allergic to shrimp. I forgot that they didn't take USA debit card so we had to run to the cash machine as they do not accept credit cards. They only take cash or Canadian credit card only. The waitress was a young girl who spoke English & she was very helpful & friendly in recommending what was good. This place may be a bit difficult to eat family style except for the appetizers. The handmade fresh noodles and won ton skins were made from scratch which really makes a BIG difference. It tastes sooooo much better. We will definitely return.

We have been coming here for about 6 months now. My girlfriend and I wandered in off the street when in Chinatown and have been back many times since.
They have a good selection of take-home dumplings, noodles and sauces. We've taken their ramen noodles and udon home and a few things of dumplings and have always been happy. -

Amazing Food and an Owner that went above and beyond for my wife and I. We were visiting from Seattle, happend upon this restaurant thanks to an Urban Spoon rating, and we both loved the food and more importantly likes talking with the owner and learning about his past...what a great experience...we will be back!

A small restaurant which makes their own noodles daily. Special of the day ($10) was Dan dan mein (spicy pork) and won ton mein combo. Tasty and spicy pork on noodles. Fast friendly service. Street parking.
