Vancouver, BC
One of my favourites, kinda like a landmark for DT, what a location as i feel it's quite central, esp, if you have to use the washroom: high-quality, discrete entrance without trying to sneak around past the bellboy or concierge. How? Just enter from the side street off Dunsmuir!
Kinda near the Staples, so just go up the escalators, turn left at the top, and stroll down whistlin' for about 15 steps and voila, one the cleanest, spacious and private washrooms.
big thumbs up for the full-size doors if using the toilet stalls.
enough of the washrooms; love the action in its huge lobby, wide reservation counter, a Starbucks, entrance to the Royal Centre Mall, so like i said, it's really about the location.
though I haven't actually stayed here, who would doubt the quality of their rooms and will cost a fistful of $$$ but well worth the location. -

Upscale hotel and conference rooms. Meets all expectations for a property of its calibre.
I was here recently for some meetings. Parking is expensive and perhaps for your visit/event, you'll want to splurge. But if you don't - it's adjacent / adjoined to the Burrard Sky Train Station.
Well organised meetings from the moment you enter the property. Delicious food and beverage service. Meetings rooms are comfortable - perfect temperature and no issue with heavy scent.Listed in: 365-Day Challenge - Review A…

I didn't get to stay here this time, but it's a fine place for a conference. Here's why:
-huge meeting rooms
-reasonably clean and private bathrooms
-quick elevator service
-friendly concierge, front end staff and cleaning people.
-easy access to parking
-starbucks that's convenient and easy
-enclosed mall open on weekends for fast food and pharmacy (okay, it needs some better choices, but still).
I lost my phone here (actually left it in the bathroom) and the cleaning staff turned it in immediately. Granted, i was surrounded by a pretty honest crowd, and it's not the nicest phone, but still.
One of the best in my books. Only loses half a star as the restaurant food was inflated if not very average, but what hotel isn't? And I already rated that seperately, besides. I was going to stick with a four, but for the rates and hospitality, I really couldn't have asked for anything more, in spite of the fact that it was extremely packed. -

love Hyatt Regency.
the club and breakfast on the 2nd floor is very nice. -
Review from Jane D.
Stayed here for two nights last December (Friday and Saturday). Design is definitely sleek and contemporary.
For roughly $286 USD total (with corporate discount), we received two "Grand" double beds. Bath amenities were few. Brand was that of Hyatt's own bath line "Portico."
Wi-Fi cost us rougly $10 USD a night.
Parked in the parking garage below and in total it was $22.50 USD (including a small extra charge because we took forever to exit the garage lol).
Pros:
- Clean and well designed
- Extremely convenient location (Stanley Park is only 5 minutes away. Mt. Grouse is only 20 minutes away. RIDICULOUS)!!
- The men who stand to the left of the elevators who assisted me with suggestions on where to park. It might have been the customer service area or something of the sort.
- Their shampoo and conditioner made my hair GORGEOUSSS~ I must buy more of this Portico brand ASAP.
Cons:
Snobby receptionist :(
Few bath amenities (but the shampoo and conditioner were awesome!!)
Pricey (imo) without discount
I haven't stayed at any other hotels in Vancouver yet so I can't compare to others in the area. -

Always stay here when I'm in town for work and the lobby has a Starbucks. Self check-in kiosks take less than a couple of minutes so you can relax in your room. The elevators have been redesigned to be more efficient as it directs to an elevator that will take you to your floor.
Convenient in the downtown area where it's busy and bustling. -

Cannot really complain as I got a great weekend deal on this hotel that is smack dab in the heart of downtown, close to every place I wanted to visit during my stay. Staff at this hotel were vary pleasant and helpful. The 2-double bedroom we got was VERY spacious, modern, great quality mattresses, furniture, and accents. There is a Starbuck just to the side of the lobby and so this area of the hotel will get very busy at certain times of the day by non-hotel customers. Unfortunately they do not have an indoor pool and the indoor hot tub as well as the hotel lounge were under repair/construction during my stay. Recommendation: Ask whatever hotel you plan on staying if any areas are under reconstruction.

If you want an awesome view of Vancouver downtown, this is a good location. We recently went up to Canada for a long weekend and this was the first hotel. The staff got us checked in right away despite the fact they were getting busy. The hotel is in a prime downtown location that you can easily walk to many restaurants and shops, that is if you want to leave this awesome room. We were on the 26th floor with a balcony. The tip I give anyone wanting to stay here on a higher floor is this, I booked the room and really wanted a balcony on a higher floor but it was going to be a cool hundred bucks more, at least.
With sad face on, I proceeded to the checkout, but wait what do I see? A chance to gamble on a better for a mere $15 more.. Yippee. How it works, is you pick from a list of things like higher floor, balcony, and executive suite. If they have it available the day you get there then you are committed to that extra charge. I was so stoked when we got there and she said enjoy the 26th floor. We watched sea gulls flying by at eye level, we could see water as well. Hyatt even provides you with a nice little patio table and two chairs.
When we finally came in from the balcony, we enjoyed the flat screen tv and cool shower head mounted in the ceiling. Not a bad price for downtown Vancouver, but the parking is STEEP people, that alone will shock you. We self parked and still paid $40 American dollars. This kept them from a solid 5. It is a total rip off on parking, but it is what it is, I guess.
Bed and pillows were super comfy too.. almost forgot all that because the room had such a great view, but I suppose some people do care if the bed is nice.Listed in: Hotels

It is a Hyatt Regency. There is certain expectation.
The lobby was busy with the holiday gingerhouse display. Then there is a Starbucks on the side. The elevator was old and in the process of being refurbished. The rooms were clean and large, but nothing really to write home about. A standard clean hotel room with whatever you expect, just a little less.
The restaurant, Mosaic, is relatively interesting. The buffet breakfast was $26 (CAN). On the high side but not ridiculous.
The location is just superb. No complaint and that's probably the best reason to stay here.
Winter rate is $150. Nice. -

Had a not so good experience in my first stay at the Hyatt, to be fair more of a "non eventful stay" with a couple of hiccups but this was followed up on by management and have been here now almost a week on my second stay and they have gone above and beyond to make this stay a memorable one. Hubbie travels back and forth weekly (I accompany him periodically) so this was their attempt to draw him back to the hotel and it has worked. Staying on club level and staff, Ting and Rain could not be more accomodating. A month ago is was no - now it's a definite stay. Rooms are clean and comfy.

This hotel is AWESOME! Prime location, great price, beautiful rooms, and clean.
We stayed here for a ball and got an impressive room block price of $150 per night. The parking was advertised as being $30 something a night but somehow when we left, were only charged $28 for 2 nights. I'll take it!
The hotel is smack in the middle of downtown Vancouver and everything is about a 10/15 minute drive from where we were. Chinatown, Yaletown, Granville...stellar location.
I was surprised at how modern and clean the rooms were. They had really comfortable king beds, cool showers that had the shower head come from the ceiling, (which was a little difficult to shower in but looked cool so I didn't care) and had a fabulous view of the city on the 26th floor.
My only comment was that the staff was not exceptionally friendly over the phone. I had lost my reservation information and called to get it a few days before and the people on the phone were very snappy and rude. Once in the hotel, everyone was exceptionally friendly and nice so hopefully this is not the norm...but this happened twice over the phone.
All in all, great hotel - I'd definitely stay here again when coming back to Vancouver. -
Review from Micki C.
This is a beautiful hotel and a great location for walking around downtown Vancouver. We were really disappointed with the sound quality in the hotel. We could hear the TV and conversations in the rooms on either end of ours with crystal clarity. They weren't being overly loud; they were having normal conversation or watching TV at a reasonable volume. The walls are paper thin; it was like they were in my room with me. Had a terrible nights sleep despite the really comfortable bed and pillow, which almost made my sleeplessness worse.
I was also disappointed with the front desk when we mentioned this problem. The staff was nice and seemed somewhat sympathetic that we got no sleep because our neighbors were up talking until 4am but simply told us this was how the building was made and there was nothing they could do about the noise.
On the upside, they gave us wonderful brunch recommendations and directions on how to get everywhere we were going. A perfect place to stay as long as you don't intend to get any sleep.Comment from Brandi L. of Hyatt Regency Vancouver 10/3/2011

Beautiful hotel in a great location for downtown Vancouver! I placed a bid on PriceLine and received a terrific price. For those who stay during the weekend, use the gate parking and it is $8 from 6p.m.-6a.m. on Saturday, then $4 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, and $2 per hour each hour after.
I agree with the other reviewers who say it's a little noisy. I stayed on the 11th floor and could hear very loud yelling from the street and showers from other rooms.
The staff are friendly and helpful with directions and such. -

We stayed on the 27th floor. For the price and location, I think it is an OK hotel.
PROS
1) Awesome elevators (computerized). Minimal waiting for the elevators.
2) Nice updated room interior.
3) Starbucks inside the hotel.
4) Fast, pretty good (but $$) room service.
CONS
1) THIN walls (ummm... we could hear the nocturnal activities of the couple next door, if you know what I mean/)
2) You can hear loud traffic noise even on the 27th floor
3) Since the elevator banks is smack in the middle of the lobby, lobby is really not a very inviting space.
4) $28 per day parking rate!
5) I couldn't get WiFi access inside Mosaic, their restaurant.
Although I am a Hyatt club member, next time, I will probably look for something cheaper. -

Stayed at the Hyatt for an evening, and it was very spacious. Modern, and elegant, with a touch of luxury. I am a fan of the hotel because it was close by to all the amenities in Downtown Vancouver. Close enough to Granville Street if you want an evening out and go club hopping.
I can't comment too much on the service because I just checked in with the hotel concierge and that was my only interaction with staff. Checked out with the automated machine, otherwise it was quick and efficient.
I didn't like it that the hotel had the T.V on when we arrive to our room because it seemed like a waste of electricity. It was a re-run of Hyatt's own welcome message. Not necessary, but that's moot.
Overall, the sheets were clean, beds were comfortable, and very little noise. What more can I ask for in a hotel room. Would recommend it, although only going through priceline. This hotel is not worth the price unless you have money to burn and/or adamant about being close to Vancouver's busy streets. -
Review from J O.
I stayed at the Hyatt for a conference in August, 2011. The hotel was very clean, the room was exceptional, the food and bar were excellent if slightly expensive (typical for large hotel). The grounds were perfect for our conference, with an escalator between the two floors where our conference was held, and even the hotel-provided coffee was good. However, it was the staff who really made the trip shine, both while I was there and after I left.
I had forgotten some medication that my wife sent me. She mailed it, but the package got stuck in customs for an unknown reason. When I called, the hotel staff were very sympathetic and took down my information. Today, the first week in October, I just received a package from the hotel with the medication - they had kept my information and sent it back as soon as they received it.
I will certainly stay there again and will recommend them to other conference organizers. -

I enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt in Vancouver. It was my first trip to Vancouver and I really didn't have expectations. The hotel was within walking distance of great shopping and several restaurants. We were lazy so we ended up taking a cab to Granville St to go out, but bare with me as i was wearing heels.
The concierge was helpful, the welcome staff was efficient and friendly. The room was clean and air conditioner worked well. I would definitely recommend this place to others and would stay here again. -

I stayed here for 2 nights for a conference, and I had a wonderful experience!
The bedroom was beautiful and fresh, the view through the wide windows was a beautiful view of Downtown Vancouver. I LOVED the bathroom, the mirror was large, the counter was spacious, and lighting was controllable in so many ways!
The service here was excellent! Everyone was extra friendly, opening doors, holding elevators, and offering help. Checking in and out has never been easier. You can SELF check in and out via scanning your receipt through one of their self-check out machines in the lobby or doing it online!
The only downside is, the elevators are EXTREMELY SLOW. Make sure you don't need to go back upstairs for awhile.... -

I've always been a Westin man and if a man can't be loyal then what is he really worth. But every once in a while, chip fall in such a way that to not drift wayward would be a disservice to....mankind? No, that's too dramatic. To yelp? Ok, we will go with that. The Hyatt regency presented me with one such opportunity last weekend. I got a great deal on Priceline for Friday and Saturday night. The deal was made even sweeter when, upon checking in, I was given a free upgrade on my room because....well, I don't know why. But up to the 25th floor I went. Big room, king size bed with sheets you could swim in. Lovely view of the city below. Ahhhhh.
Location wise, I liked it. Close to the shopping. Tim hortons next door. Starbucks in the lobby. It made for a smorkishboard of java delights. For those with a more sophisticated palate, great restaurants are a plenty around here.
On the negative, the outdoor hot tube was not clean and the pool looked green. Yes, that rhymes. It's how I roll. :) -

Pros:
Location is A+, close to restos/bars, shopping, SkyTrain, waterfront.
Rooms are newly remodeled (be sure to ask for one with a balcony!)
Staff, incl restaurant (breakfast), totally gets the business traveler's needs.
Regency Club access is very strict. (Pro if you're in, con if you want in.)
Cons:
Overhead lighting in room makes an awful buzzing (think fluorescent) sound, making it unusable.
Bathrooms are cheap-o, chintzy in finishes, so if you love a big or beautiful bathroom, you'll be disappointed here.
Big meeting facilities = high danger of conference attendees running about, clogging up elevators (since they're all on the same schedule), causing unbearable SBUX lines, general lanyard-wearing annoyance overall.
This Hyatt is like a nice upper-middle class home. If total package - incl weighing in location and general quality of hotel - is important to you, you'll like it here. If you're looking for a luxury hotel, however, you'll want to look elsewhere for sure b/c they did cut corners on quality of finishes. -
Review from Chris M.
This hotel was almost excellent! It was exceptionally located in the financial district; within walking distance of nightlife, parks, beaches, shopping, etc. The bathroom and shower were excellent. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The beds were sleep-tastic and the views of the city were fascinating. The pool was outdoors and had great views of the surrounding buildings and some of the skyline...and the hot tub (also outside) was indeed hot!
If you have toddlers, one of the best features of this Hyatt was the expansive conference room layout on the 2nd (and maybe 3rd) floors. I was babysitting my 3.5yr old niece a lot while staying at this hotel and while it was raining we had plenty of space in the hallways outside the unoccupied conference rooms to race, hunt for treasure, shrink things with magic wands, etc.
Despite all those conveniences, this Hyatt dropped the ball on two important ones to me: internet and coffee. The fee they charged for internet access in the rooms was so expensive it reminded me of how airlines price certain 'services' like allowing passengers to bring a suitcase. Also, the Starbucks coffee shop in their lobby was noticeably more expensive than the other nearby Starbucks, so again it seemed like the hotel was charging a premium price for something other hotels offer for free or at least market rate.
Hyatt Vancouver was a great hub for a weekend in the city and I recommend it for families, couples, partying youngsters and tired people. -

Writing on hotels is always tough to keep it in a perspective of the average guest. However as a frequent guest of either a specific chain or hotel you start to notice certain things the regular traveler will not see and also after a while you are entitled to various benefits like club access.
Even though the hotel is here in my own town, if there is a work meeting then even the locals are booked into the contracted hotel if they wish to. Of course I never say no when it's about escaping home for a day or two and enjoying the good service at the Hyatt. That's what I have to give them. The service at the Hyatt Vancouver is always great and the staff very accommodating and professional.
I already did a review on their restaurant Mosaic which is a favorite of mine.
Now let's come to the details: I had the same issue on various stays already that they close the Regency Club lounge (currently on the weekends) without prior notice either on their website, to the general Reservations hotline and not even to the private line agents. However, as a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond member you are supposed to have club access on any stay. Now they just let you show up and say 'sorry the club is closed'. They give some points and breakfast in the restaurant though. My rant is rather about the communication of such things than handing out goodies for the fact. It would have been at least another star without that issue.
The rooms are nice and well taken care of, the Hyatt beds are comfortable. If you like to upgrade to or book a suite I recommend to have a look on their website at first to see what is available and where the differences are. By now I stayed in nearly all of them and the variation in size and layout is remarkable. If you live in town and look for accommodation for your visitors you may want to have a quick look beforehand to see what you book. They do not really have any bad rooms and some even have a balcony to catch some fresh (wet) air. :-)
If at all possible try and do not arrive by car while you overnight. Last time I checked it was ~30$ parking fee at the Royal Center Parking Garage. That is steep but roughly the same with all Vancouver hotels, not just Hyatt specific.
The hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Vancouver, right next to the Burrard Skytrain Station. For visitors it might be useful to mention again that the Skytrain Line is NOT the Canada Line that is coming from the airport, you would have to change for that or do a quick walk from the City Centre Station on W Georgia/Granville.
Overall I really like and recommend the hotel. With an average available rate of 180$ +tax it is reasonably priced and if they fix this communication issue they are definitely worth 4 Stars. :-)
Cheers

Review from Kai Y.
I've stayed in Hyatt at various locations in US and Asia. The Hyatt at Vancouver is nowhere near to the Hyatt I normally know: clean, classy, good service. This Hyatt is among the worst hotels I've stayed in.
The building and amenities are old and looking like stingy motel instead of the classy Hyatt I normally know.
There is zero noise cancellation. You can hear your next-door guest and people talking at the hallway.
There is a lack of supply in the bathroom. There are no robes or other bathroom supplies such as Q-tip, cotton. Those are the basic stuff in a hotel of a level as Hyatt.
The front desk and luggage people are fine, however, the concierge was certainly lack of help. She was acting indifferent when being approached for information. She wasn't providing the thorough information for ferries to Victoria. I ended up getting up early, paying for a pricey cab ride and missing my ferry.
The only advantage for this hotel is the location at downtown, but there are other hotel options in the downtown area.
I would definitely avoid staying in Hyatt next time I visit Vancouver. -
Review from Eric S.
Hyatt Regency Vancouver is a pretty nice hotel in a good downtown location. As folks have noted, parking is pricey and they do charge for internet, but that tends to come with the territory for large downtown hotels. Even after factoring these costs in, you can sometimes come away with a good deal overall. Anyway, my room on the 9th floor is spacious, elegant and contemporary, with a quartz work table and a nice view across Burrard Street. There were a few too many pillows and doo-dads on the bed so I had to put them on the easy chair.
They also have a Starbucks in the lobby area which is handy. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Overall the Hyatt feels kind of classy without being stuffy, which I like.
I feel like I should mention, today I was going up to my room when an elderly man got on the elevator wearing a yellow short-sleeve button-down shirt and no pants. This startled me, and I was about to look, thinking he maybe had a bathing suit on under the shirt-tails? But fortunately I stopped myself. It was the kind of situation that was more likely to get worse than better. -

2010 Winter Gingerbread House Display!!
I stumbled on it a week before christmas with one of my closest friends on a stroll downtown.
Funny, I have been living in vancouver almost all my life and I have never gone to see this annual event!
There are fantastic gingerbread house displays adorning the lobby area in the hotel submitted by various groups such as elementary schools, businesses and hospitals. They all enter the contest to win for top 3 spots.
The heavenly smell is overbearingly sweet but you can't help but keep breathing in deeply while leaning over the small chain that separates you from the delicious treats....so close...you can just break off a piece for just a taste....
but of course, you don't. ;)
they also accept donations to give for those in need for the holiday season.
honestly though? the amount of food they used to make the GIANT display is impressive...but truly a waste of food. i couldn't help imagining all the mouths it could've fed to those people who are actually in need....oh well, im just saying... -
Review from Mike L.
Fantastic location...perfectly situated in the middle of a number of areas you would want to see and they are all only a short walk away. Within a three block radius or so, you could find yourself by the nightlife on Granville, up on Robson to do some shopping, over at the Pacific Centre Mall, or heading towards the Harbor, Gastown, and Chinatown to take in some sights.
The rooms are spacious, and they've been updated for a more contemporary look and design. There was a flat screen TV, office desk and even an iHome instead of your generic alarm clock which was a nice bonus. And while this might be kind of trivial, the shower head is actually flush with the ceiling, which was unique. Another subtle but nice touch was that shower bar actually curves slightly outward so you have a little more room in the shower to clean out all those little nooks and crannies.
Only stayed here for a night, so it's hard for me to comment on the rest of their facilities/services/amenities, but the workers were all very friendly, courteous, and accommodating. They have internet available in the rooms but it's pretty pricey for just casual use, as is their room service. Unless you're there on business where it's a must to access it in your room, you're better off just heading over to the Starbucks across the street and using their wi-fi. I believe they also have a swimming pool and fitness center, but never got around to checking those out. Same goes for the bar/lounge and restaurant, but that was largely a product of the short stay. There's a Starbucks in the lobby for the early morning fix, and they even have a 24-hour Tim Horton's and McDonald's next to the front valet in the lobby.
One strike against them would be that parking is not included, but that didn't really take us by surprise. The daily rate runs for about $25-30 or so, but there are also a number of public garages in the area. We found one a few blocks away that would let you park there for essentially 24 hours for only $6, which worked out perfectly for us.
Even though we originally only stayed here after my friend found a great rate on priceline, I would definitely look to come back even if it meant paying something closer to their normal rates (provided I don't find a crazy deal elsewhere). Without having done any research, I would guess that it would be hard to find another place that could match the awesome location and quality of rooms...especially since you could probably find a deal online to stay here anyways. Four and a half stars overall (though I didn't need it, the parking, internet, and room service are all pretty pricey), but I was on vacation and I'll give them a bump to five, especially considering the great view from the room.Listed in: Vancouver!

I've only stayed at a Hyatt one other time for a firm training, and it wasn't half bad, so when I did the "name your own price" thing on Priceline and got the Hyatt, I thought it would be alright. Boy was I wrong.
Parking is outrageous. $28/day PLUS $10/day in taxes. Nowhere did it say there was a tax on parking.
Check-in took a ridiculously long time because the two front desk staff had to escort each guest to the elevator and wait for the elevator door to open. Why not just point to the elevators and let the guests be on their way? That was annoying.
After I made my booking on Priceline, I called the Hyatt and requested a non-smoking, king bed. The lady I talked to said she would make a note of that on my account. Why is it that when I check in, I'm told they only have 2 double beds available and that I would have to pay extra for a king bed because the room has a view? I asked numerous times if there was anything they could do to get us in a king room, but they reiterated that it would be an upgrade, so no. While I realize there are no guarantees when you book with Priceline, I feel like the hotel should go above and beyond to please a customer. I'm only asking for a king bed. It's not like I'm asking for the penthouse.
The room was decent, but I've stayed in better. There was a cherry stem and a hairball on the bathroom floor upon check-in, and after housekeeping "cleaned" the room the second day, the cherry stem and hairball remained.
There is NO complimentary internet anywhere in the hotel! Most, if not all, Starwood properties have at least free wifi in the lobby.
Parking + no free wifi + poor housekeeping + subpar customer service = NEVER staying at a Hyatt again -

I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt. It started with a fantastic deal on priceline, although by the time you add in $28 daily for parking, and $14 for internet access, that fantastic deal does end up costing a little more.
I was eager to try the self check-in, but instead was greeted by an extremely exuberant staff member, who checked me in, showed me all the way to the elevator, and even pressed the button of my floor for me. It was almost a little much.
My room on the 6th floor was bright and cleaned, and has likely undergone a renovation/refresh recently. The bed was extremely comfortable with a down duvet, and a choice of pillows. A comfortable desk and chair set, perfect for the many hours of work I needed to complete while I was here. The internet speed was great, it is often a complaint with other hotels.
The room was quiet, well insulated from the noise of the elevators close by and the other rooms. Some amount of noise from the pool area just below, but nothing to complain about considering it is closed after 10pm.
The Hotel Bar makes a good martini, and had a jazz trio playing on Saturday night. I might not have paired this with the cage fighting which was playing out on the tv's scattered through the area, but the music was good.
Overall a good stay at the Hyatt. -

I recently had some visitors to the city and went over to check out their digs. I was pretty impressed with the Hyatt. There was a recent upgrade and now the rooms have flat screen TVs, modern art and pretty chic furnishings that sit atop dark carpeted floors. Rooms start around $179 per night.
The downtown location is really prime for this hotel. You're right near the Skytrain and B-line bus stop, there are loads of great restaurants within a few blocks (up-scale: Hy's, Diva at the Met, Kobe; and casual: Cactus Club or the Keg) and it's walking distance from Pacific Centre or Robson Street for shopping. You don't even need to leave the block: the Royal Centre is attached and has some shopping and the Mosaic Restaurant offers international cuisine on the hotel's second floor.
There is not automated check in and out for the D-I-Y types. There's also a YVR check-in kiosk in the lobby. Those wanting Internet access will have to shell out $10 extra for 24-hours of service, which is a bit of a rip.
Make sure to lock your room up tight - we found the elevator often didn't require a card-key to access guest floors. A staffer also told us that there was a wave of theft at the hotel after the upgrade and they lost a lot of their flat screen TVs. An inside job was suspected and staff access keys were downgraded in a effort to beef up security and limit access within the hotel. -

Admittedly, I've never stayed here. Take what follows with a grain of salt.
Not a fan, oh not at all.
My only run in with this hotel was recently. Following her stint in town, a business acquaintance left a package for me with the concierge. It should have been an in and out process, speed is what I was looking for. I was in a rush. Walking in, the staff completely ignored a friend and myself as we waited for assistance.
Three clerks conversed amongst each other while I waited for the front desk to be free. Fifteen minutes for a simple pickup occurs as atrocious.
Hotels are built on customer service. This one lacks foundation. -

We had a great experience with the Hyatt Regency Vancouver! Everyone from the Bellmen to the Front Desk to the Concierge was friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is well located and the rooms are very comfortable with views of the gorgeous Vancouver skyline. We had two rooms for two nights and found the room service to be delicious and the fast bite restaurant options beneath the hotel to be very convenient for a quick snack. Great for families or business travelers. The only drawbacks I would mention are the poor internet service, fuzzy cable and only one ice machine located on the fourth floor. Otherwise perfection.

It's rare that the opportunity arises for me to visit Vancouver--seems like it's once every two years or so--but when I have the chance, I jump on it. I love the town, the people, the weather, the character of the place--and while I could only stay overnight this time around, Priceline put me up at the Hyatt Regency.
First impressions do count (to an extent), and so I was a bit alarmed when I arrived. The outside of the building is older and looks mildly shabby, and the lobby is a bit dated--plus the building shares a parking garage with some sort of nearby Asian market or something and is mildly confusing.
But those are the only negatives I can list. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the elevators (though slow) are secured using room keys, and the rooms are absolutely enormous. I was extremely pleased with the decor, and my view was amazing--from the 23rd floor I had a great view of both the water and the city outside. The location is fantastic, too, as you're within walking distance of just about anything you'd care to see or do, plus the subway is right across the street.
True, there are some relatively minor flaws (mainly having to pay for in-room Internet and high-priced minibar items), but that's more of a reflection of the state of the hotel industry right now than this particular hotel.
All in all, I've given the place four stars, as it isn't "perfect," but I am exceedingly pleased with it and will try and stay here again in the future. -

Kick a**hotel. We got a killer deal on it for the New Year's. Only $130/night including breakfast (but then they charge like a 15% tax -- so it came out to about $150/night total). We stayed for five days and loved it.
We got a room on the 25th floor overlooking the entire city. The room was clean with a great modern decor. The bathroom was modern too with nice stone work and a cool shower.
The best part is the location though -- we could walk anywhere in the city in 10 minutes. Right next to Robson Street, Granville Street, and the waterfront. We got a car, but didn't use it to get around the city at all -- just to go skiing at Whistler.
The staff is super friendly and nice as well. We made friends with all the restaurant staff by going for breakfast every morning. They told us where to go to check out stuff, where to go get skis. Even the bellboys were so friendly. I've never been to a hotel where the staff was this friendly. Maybe it's just BC nice people -- but coming from the East Coast it was a marked difference in attitude.
The only complaint is the parking situation. They charge $37.50/night for parking in the garage underneath. But that's downtown for you -- all parking is expensive downtown. We actually only paid that rate one day. On the weekends and holidays the rate went down to $12/day -- which was much more reasonable.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Vancouver -- for business or vacation -- it's a great place to stay. -

I stayed here for a couple of days. I can't speak much to the "value" per se as I had used Hyatt points to pay for the reservation. I must note (as others have said) that parking and internet are NOT included. Sadly this day in age, these supposed high-class hotels cater to a high-spending crowd or some nonsense. Even their business center isn't free!
However the concierge is extremely helpful. They helped me find free internet across the street @Starbucks and noted that parking can be cheaper by NOT going through the hotel's system and just paying the garage! They also helped me procure tickets for Capilano Suspension Bridge & Grouse Mtn on the spot instead of waiting in line at those locales. Friendly tips for things to do and places to eat - they are very eager to help.
The room was nice and had a pretty decent view from the 24th story. Room featured a wall-mounted LCD TV and nice beds. The bathroom does have a cool, modern rain-drop shower head. Many other amenities included like a nice gym, pool and hot tub.
The hotel itself is walking distance to many things such Stanley Park and numerous restaurants. Tim Horton's, McD and Starbucks are very conveniently next door.
The power had apparently gone out during our stay and elevators took awhile to get back up and running. The water was also kind of dirty afterward for awhile. It eventually cleared and I am don't think that this should take away from the hotel as the whole city blacked out for a bit. -

This review reflects upon the first-floor washrooms alone.
Many a time I've left the yoga classes at Vancouver Corporate Yoga in the mall location and exited through the hotel. And the bathrooms here are a perfect, clean spot en route to the bus stops.
Yes, I'm definitely abusing the privilege here, but I'm hoping that this review will even things up.
The washrooms have a modern feel and the stalls are awesome -- you know the ones where they've spared no expense in making walls that actually reach the floor. How posh!
The lobby is also beautifully decorated. Now I think about it, I've also attended a conference/trade show on the second floor here. It's a bit difficult to find the rooms and they lie beyond a maze of escalators, but I'll still stick behind my four-star appreciation for wonderful washrooms. -

Prestige, flawless, immaculate, excellent are all words when I thought about Hyatt Hotel, NOT THIS ONE! I swear this place resembled so much of how great a business is, right before they go under! My first impression upon arriving was that the hotel looked old, not at all a "Hyatt" feeling. The room decor was very typical nothing out of the ordinary, but the shower was cool though! It was a shower head flushed in with the ceiling in the shower.
The pool was probably a small and not very deep pool, hot tub was small aswell and standard maybe 8 person hot jub, fitness room consist of couple universal machines with couple dumbells.
To me a room is a room, but if you have a more flashier label(Hyatt, Marriot, Sheraton, or MOTEL 6!) you should definately live up to the hype, which they failed terribly. -

I stayed at this hotel over the course of a few days during a convention my company was attending. The hotel was clean and contemporary. The hotel is also in a good location, convenient to many restaurants and shops, including the convention centre.
The rooms and bedrooms were also clean and comfortable. Amenities in the hotel were also quite good.
In the lobby, there was a Starbucks and a casual bar. On the 2nd floor was a trendy restaurant called Mosaic. I didn't get the chance to eat there, but I did enjoy a glass of wine looking over the city.
I would like to give this place 3.5 stars. The price was high, but that's okay, I was expecting it. What is stopping me from giving this hotel a 4 star review is the fact that i had to pay 30 some dollars for Internet access in my room. I feel like the Internet should be complimentary as you are already paying a premium for the room itself. Also, it seems as if most of the clientele are business travellers, so why not cater to them? When I go back to Vancouver, I will take the Internet cost into consideration when booking my hotel. -

My girlfriend's parents came into town and they needed a place to stay. The Hyatt offered a great rate and we booked a room. The rooms have been updated with modern furnishings. Overall a pretty good place to stay in the downtown core.

the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the shopping area and restaurants. Rooms were spacious and modern, had flat screen tv, office space; and the bed was comfy. The staffs were friendly, our rooms were serviced everyday
The only downside to this hotel is the parking, $28 a day for parking minus one star for that. Overall i would come here again. -

I wish I could give this place 3 1/2 stars, but to be conservative I'll stick with 3.
To be honest, this place could very well be a 4 or 4 1/2 star hotel but one single thing ruined it for me (which I'll get to later). We got a great deal on Priceline, and the hotel is wonderfully appointed. Modern, technologically advanced with self check-in & check-out kiosks. Outstanding location, amenties, and *gasp* the room service was actually decent, albeit with tiny portions (my "entree" tomato salad was about 5-6 tomato slices high and 1 tomato slice wide). I wouldn't recommend the kids' pasta but the quesadilla and salad were pretty tasty.
The room itself is really nice looking, with new furniture and a really nice, large bathroom. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the shower spray (which was very obviously adjustable), but the lavender-citrus soap & shampoos smelled really nice and the tiles and tub were very clean.
So, now my one gripe. At check-in, we were given a room with two double beds. I wanted a king-sized bed, so I asked if any were available, and we were given one. "Great!" I thought to myself. When we got to the room, everything looked fine, the bed had tons of pillows... until I got into the bed to relax and found that our "King" bed was actually the kind that was two TWIN beds attached by a band in the middle. Are you kidding me??? I might expect this in Europe, or at a less-classy hotel, but the Hyatt Regency? They shouldn't even be offering a "King" room with such a bed! I still can't believe it.
Otherwise, the service was fast, and we were able to push our check-out back an hour which was nice. But again... nobody going to a supposedly 4-star hotel wants a King-sized bed with a hard bar in the middle. I'd rather have the two double beds, any day. However, nobody told me this and at that point we'd already unpacked... and again, I just can't even believe that a nice hotel would even have that kind of put-together King bed in the first place.
