I spent 4 nights there last week and this is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I can not say enough about the customer service that I have received at this hotel. These people know customer service!!! I travel extensively on business and stay in hotels 100+ nights a year. This place is miles ahead of any of them I have stayed at in years. I can honestly say from a customer service aspect, this Hyatt is in the top 5 Hotels that I have stayed at in the last 20 years. I was there for the CsHm Event and needed to find a hardware store for some items for my booth. I asked where one was from the concierge and he immediately contacted their maintenance department whereupon they responded with all the items that I was about to have to go on a scavenger hunt for. Then after the event, my company to my angst left me with a pallet full of equipment on the third floor to be shipped by someone other than the hotel. The hotel went out of there way again to have someone come up with a Pallet Jack and take my equipment down to their loading dock to be picked up by an alternative vendor. I would give these hotel employees a 10 if I could.

OK, so the rest of the hotel is top quality, older but well kept, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, the restaurants are good but I don't think that they are anything special, especially for the price. I will stay at this hotel from now on when traveling in Calgary.

I spent 4 nights at the Hyatt in February, 2012.  I am not a rewards member, so I had no benefits or special inclusions during my stay.  Nonetheless, the room was great, everything was new and fresh, and it felt very comfortable.  The room was also very quiet and I had no problem staying asleep.

During my stay, the ice machine was broken all 4 days, so I had to use the stairs to get down to the next floor and get ice.  Most hotels would have this fixed in 1 or 2 days, so I found it unfortunate that the ice machine on my floor was broken for the entire week.
Also, there was no breakfast included in my stay or room package.  My only option for breakfast at the hotel was to pay $23 for the breakfast buffet, which I did not try because of the outrageous price.
Finally, the wireless internet was not free, where as most hotels now days include it with your room.  I don't recall the exact price of the internet, but it wasn't very cheap.

Overall I would recommend this hotel for the quality and comfort.  But if you're expecting a continental breakfast and free wireless internet, look elsewhere.

My arrival at the hotel wasn't the best way to stary with a $25 a night parking charge ($35 valet). The hotel isn't cheap and tacking on an extra $25 per night seemed too much. It seems that anyone can park in their parking lot too so it's always full.

After that unpleasantness I proceeded to park and join the queue to check in. Soon after someone came from out of nowhere, introduced himself, and offered to help me. I received multiple apologies about my wait (which couldn't have been longer than 1 minute) and seeing that I was with my family offered to drop the parking rate to $15/night since I obviously wasn't travelling on business. The paid internet access ($13.95/day) was also waived if I joined their loyalty club. Then, the gentleman gave me his business card and told that if I needed anything, I was to give him a call. It turns out he was the front office manager and I really felt welcomed. While waiting for me, the kids were happily munching on some free popcorn and digging through a wagon of crayons, colouring books, and little toys.

The rooms were clean and comfortable with flat screen telvisions and an iHome radio (very handy) and I slept really well in the beds. There is a workout room (approx 20 machines) and a pool, hot tub and sauna. The pool isn't huge and it's more for frolicking than swimming but we enjoyed it. There's also a lot of nice Western art in the lobby and throughout the hotel. We had a few minor problem and requests over the 3 nights we stayed which were all dealt with immediately and happily.

Despite the wonderful service there was one detraction that drops this to a 4 star rating. Both Friday and Saturday night, the parking garage was full from about 8pm onward. We had the option of parking at a nearby lot or parking in the hotels lot but in the lane. Neither were good solutions for me. I don't think the hotel should oversell their parking lot to the weekend restaurant or partying crowd to the detriment of their guests. Or if their lot becomes full, then perhaps offering valet service for the nearby parking lot for paid guests.

I stayed here as part of the Sled Island festival this past weekend as the band I work for was on the main stage.  We drove from Vancouver in two separate vehicles, and the first van arrived hours before mine.  However, check in was quite the head scratching affair.  The Hyatt had all our names and three rooms for the five of us.  However, the first two to arrived had checked in with two of the names, so apparently I was already "checked in", despite standing there in the lobby at 1 am all bleary eyed and really wishing for a soft bed.  The clerk was, well, confused but was so adament about sticking to policy that he didn't seem to comprehend that I hadn't checked in and was indeed standing right in front of him.

Eventually it somehow got sorted out.

The rooms were excellent .  Very spacious with big comfortable beds.  I did note that although the hotel had upgraded to LCD TVs, they didn't bother providing HD cable for them, so while they're a space saver, the picture just never looks that good stretching a 4:3 ratio out to the 16:9.

They also charge $14 a day for wireless access, which I declined.

Super 8 gives it away, after all.

Other than the odd check in moment and typical higher end hotel nickel and diming (I'm sure they're meant for corporations with expense accounts, not scruffy no-good-nik rock bands), the Hyatt is a fine place to stay.  And if it's good enough for King Buzzo of the Melvins, darn tootin' it's good enough for me!

This place has the best Sunday buffet brunch in town.   We could not believe the quality of food presented at this buffet.

They had an antipasto section that was fantastic.  Fresh, marinated artichoke hearts, grilled peppers, an assortment of olives, cheeses, along with grilled zucchini.  I can't even remember all the different foods in that section.  Then I moved on to the breakfast part and the scrambled eggs were so light and fluffy.  The eggs benny were super good and the hollandaise sauce was lemony and obviously made from scratch.  The desserts were presented in a way that made one want to try every single one of them.  At other buffets, we usually take a few to try and seldom clean our plate.  Heck, I could have licked that doggone plate.  They actually had the cutest little hand-made truffles that were absolutely yummy and the mascarpone cheesecake was scrumptious!  Our server asked us if we had tried the caramel cheesecake, which we hadn't, so I beetled up there and grabbed one of those and the server was on the mark because it was so good!

The cost was around $28/person and so worth every cent.  We are going to return next Sunday as well and I can't wait!  If you want to impress someone with a really good Sunday buffet, you will not go wrong by going to the Hyatt.  You will be so glad - so very, very glad.

The lovely folks at the Hyatt let us stow our bags there for no charge even though we weren't guests of the hotel, and were super friendly and helpful. When we came back to pick them up we popped into the washroom first, and the concierge had a cab waiting with our bags in it by the time we got out. Talk about service! These guys are amazing.

I just had lunch at the Hyatt yesterday. They were very reasonably priced and had great food. A great destination to eat when you're downtown. I loved the ambiance and the service. It was a great meal and I will be back.
