Review from John G.
Has a two night stay at this Hyatt and enjoyed the visit. Nice lobby with shops and a Starbucks. Has a workout room, pool, onsite bar and restaurant. Nice ambiance.
Room was spacious and very clean. Nice flat panel TV and iPod hookup.
Beds were very comfy. Bathroom very clean and provisioned nicely.
All staff were very courteous and friendly from valet attendant, to front desk to server in Forque restaurant.
Great rates. Nice location in the Downtown area.
Recommended for sure. -

This place is a Hyatt Regency? Really? Seems more like a tired old Doubletree or Crown Plaza. I'm a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond member and was disappointed there is no longer a Regency Lounge. Breakfast is provided in the restaurant at no charge for Diamonds but there's no evening reception, no water.
Rooms are spartan. No media jacks, no coffee makers (I don't even drink coffee and I noticed this), no mini fridge. They're pretty basic. Even though I was at the end of the hallway, I could hear the elevator run up and down. Otherwise, though, the rooms are quiet. -

I almost gave 2 stars, but decided to go with 3. I just expected a lot more from the Hyatt.
I'll start with my gripes first, since they are foremost in my mind:
-The front desk staff did not seem in a hurry to help. Check-in went fine, but I went back to the front desk for an issue and again for check-out and had issues both times. At times there were 3 people behind the counter, but only 1 actually engaging with/assisting a guest. One morning it took one employee excessively long to "log in" before he could help me.
-I had no hot water the first morning (hence the trip down to the front desk). I let it run for a LONG time and it was still ice cold - in both the shower and the sink. (To their credit they apologized and gave me a $25 credit.) But, an ice cold shower is a crappy way to start the day. The next two mornings, I did eventually get hot water, but still had to let it run for between 5-10 minutes before it got hot. What a waste of water! And, I was only on the 3rd floor. (Although this should never be an issue in any hotel room, regardless of floor.)
-My room was a sauna! No matter what I set the thermostat to, the temperature didn't change. Most of the times this wasn't an issue as I generally like my room a bit warm, but it was a bit too cool to sleep without the comforter and way to hot with the comforter. Hence, I did not sleep well at all my whole stay.
-Breakfast service at Forque was on the slow side. I had to ask for my check, which is a pet peeve. (Don't leave me there sitting.) And, prices were high, but I think that's normal for hotel breakfasts. I went down the street to a cafe after the first morning.
-They do not have shuttle service from the airport. You have to pay to take the Sunport Shuttle.
Next the good things about my stay:
-The room was very nice looking, as was the hotel in general.
-The fitness room is excellent! There were 4 ellipticals, 2 bikes, 5 or 6 treadmills, free weights, numerous weight machines, balance balls, kettlebells, etc. Again, great fitness room.
Given that I'm in town often on business, I might be willing to give the Hyatt another try for the fitness room alone, but I think I will try to stick with the Doubletree down the street. The Doubletree isn't as classy, and they have their own issues, but overall I enjoy my stays there more than my stay here. -

We did not have a chance to actually stay at this hotel so I can not speak to the rooms or the service.
They do have shops and restaurant (including starbucks and a Keva Juice) conveniently located in the lobby.
We actually rented our car from the enterprise that is found within the hotel lobby. It was one of the only rental car places in Albuquerque it seems like!! They were very nice and had decent prices.
I would stay at the hotel if I had the chance just based on our initial introduction of it. Seems like a nice place, not sure about the price. -

Hyatt has traded customer service for low rates. Do not priceline a Hyatt if you wanna be treated like a human. If you want a coffee maker in your room... Either request it at check or fall victim to Starbucks or over priced room service. Finally, although the food is excellent in the hotel resturant, avoid the bar and the filthy mouthed bartender that guards the area like a troll under the bridge.

This is my first trip to Albuquerque and therefore to this Hyatt Regency. I found a great rate online under $100/night so I decided to check it out. Although this hotel is no where near the same as other Hyatt Regencys in terms of amenities, the excellent service from the staff clearly make up for it.
I checked in for 2 nights and was given a room on the 12th floor with a great view. The room was spacious, clean, and tasteful. Although it could probably use a slight updating, I was very happy. Service during my stay was equally meticulous.
The internet offered by the hotel is TMobile, so if you already have an account with them - you are set. $9.99 for a day pass is reasonable, especially when you consider that its good at any TMobile in the US! So, you can get your money's worth!
The pool was closed but looked like it would be fun (its outdoors and just too cold!) The 24hr fitness center was great! There is no hotel parking - they use a city lot so expect to pay $12. However, the meters are 2hr parking form 8am-6pm, so if you are out most of the day you can simply park on the street for free. $2 at 8am and you are good til 10am. I was lucky that the Parking pay station was down. I called the phone number on it and they said they were having problems and I would not get a ticket. I never did - so my parking was free! The business center is some kiosks in the lobby and those computers are not cheap! ($7.50 for 15mins - prints extra!)
The staff were just exceptional! Super friendly and seemed to go out of their way for all the guests. They are full of knowledge and there is a lot to do in the area! Make sure to sign up for the GoldPassport program- they will give you some bonuses! There is Starbucks in the lobby and walking distance to many places to eat 2-3 blocks away. The library, theater, cinema, and other great places all within a few blocks so no need for a car if you are just staying in the area.
The hotel restaurant was a bit pricey - so try to get a rate that includes breakfast. They have a great menu line up. Waffles, Huevos (but no Rancheros) - thats the name, I swear- and many more! The waiters and waitresses were AMAZING! Every person greeted me and had ear to ear smiles!
All in all I would stay here again. A great place and I am sure there are some great deals and rates out there! -
Review from Julie N.
Decided to give this Hyatt a second chance---rates were crazy cheap and I am a Hyatt girl.
I should have known better---great service, though too bad the hotel is just dirty. Hair in sheets again, then when I turned down the sheets, nice to see the 'dirt' stains on the sheets. Toilet dirty--hair on it. TV didn't work---I could HEAR it, and after trying to troubleshoot with the wires attached, finally got it to work.
Counting down the days until I can check out. Just gimme my points and I'll take my Hyatt-luv to a different city.
Back to the Hilton Garden Inn I go next month---what a disappointment.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars. It is inexpensive, very nice spacious rooms, a great pool on the roof and good food. The staff is friendly, its well located (downtownish) and clean. Not sure what else you need.

Review from Don B.
Oak View, CA
This hotel is regarded as the best in the downtown Albuquerque area, at least by the travelers I know. Keep in mind, this is not saying much. As with Albuquerque at large, the hotels are generally crap in this town.
I've stayed twice now, and in each case, I've been happy with the room. I've stayed in places in this town that don't even have proper air conditioning, so I'm grateful for a spacious, clean room with climate control.
The restaurant and bar are not nearly as bad as many I've visited, so there's something else to be grateful for.
Nice room and OK food/drink win the hotel two stars, but the Hyatt Regency ABQ falls short at just about every other opportunity so far.
When I arrived, I realized I needed to get a package overnighted back home. The front desk was unable to help, and referred me to the bellman, who could handle a FedEx request, but was stopped dead in his tracks by the "overnight" request. He let me know it would be inconvenient for him to sort the process out, but I encouraged him to help me out, as it was urgent. He returned a few minutes later saying the hotel just couldn't help with my request. He directed me to a USPS office a block away that was also unable to help, because after all, this is Albuquerque. I was stuck waiting until the next day to mail from our local office.
I arrived in a cab from the airport and took advantage of the on-site Enterprise office for my rental car, and no surprise, the arrival of my car was extended so many times I had to cancel. Again, this is pretty much par for the course "best of breed" experience for Albuquerque.
If I was staying for under $100 like many of the reviewers, I'd probably rate the place higher, but at closer to $200 a night, I expect better service, even in Albuquerque. -

My spent about ten days here for work, and I wanted to stay downtown, so I stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Overall, it was decent, and the rates weren't bad ($81 a night for corporate/government). The rooms were clean and efficient, but my stay here was pretty mediocre.
The service wasn't great. I checked in very late and clearly got the "shift that didn't care." Twice in ten days, my room was not cleaned, and they didn't change out my towels. I never put a "do not disturb sign up."
The food at the attached restaurant was really pretty good, I was surprised. I enjoyed it so much I ate there twice during my stay - which I normally never do when on the road. But I was exhausted every day and it was just more convenient. The bartender was really nice.
I also didn't dig the exterior or interior design. What I like about Albuquerque is the unique way that all the buildings are lit up at night in different color glows. The Hyatt doesn't seem to play along though.Comment from Sara R. of Hyatt Regency Albuquerque 6/28/2011

I got this Hyatt through Priceline for $80. I can say that I was very happy with the hotel. The front desk attendant (I forget her name, might've been Kelly) was very nice. She upgraded my room to a high floor with a mountain view. The rooms were nice and the view was great. The bathroom was quite roomy. Clean, comfortable, and recommended.
Shame I can't recommend the city! -

Staff was awesome. Beds wher super comfy. We got an awesome rate on an awesome suite. There isn't much more to say.
Oh yeah.... There was a brawl on my floor at 2am last night. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it through the peephole of my room. It was cool watching hotel security kick everyone out. -
Review from Amy Y.
I got this hotel via Priceline for ~$58 (bid like $48).
Pros:
- Very easy to get to off the highway; clean, spacious room and bathroom.
- Nice indoor gym with plenty of treadmills and ellipticals. Also had a good mat section for stretching. The pool with hot tub looked good, too (although I didn't use it).
- Starbucks in main lobby; really useful for the early morning drive.
Cons:
- Parking over night was $12 (yikes); at least it is underground and guarded
- Wifi is free only in main lobby (not worth paying the price for in room wifi) -

I stayed at the Hyatt for a conference, which proved to be an excellent venue. We used the hotel's nice conference rooms as well as the adjacent Albuquerque Convention Center. The central, downtown location of the Hyatt was perfect for access to the Convention Center, and it also put us in walking distance of many great restaurants and nightclubs!
The rooms at the Hyatt are very nice: spacious, clean, bright, comfortable, and with a lot of amenities. The room rates at this hotel are surprisingly low, especially when compared to comparable hotels in other cities! I also don't think I had to pay an additional fee for the wireless internet, but things may have changed since I was there a year ago.
The restaurant and bar downstairs, McGrath's, is pretty good. Prices are a bit high for what you get, but I guess that's to be expected from an in-hotel restaurant. There are also a few stores connected to the hotel lobby. -

I stayed here for four nights. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. When I was waiting in line to check in, a very kind employee brought me a bunch of maps and information to help me navigate around town. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The only downside was that our room on the 4th floor only had hot water during the mornings so it meant lukewarm at best showers in the evening. However, our room on the 17th floor was oddly better in that department. Cable selection is decent. My favorite part was that you can get a complimentary coffee or tea from Starbucks every morning. A downside to that area is that there isn't much to do and it's limited on good restaurants. Go for the longer walk and make your way to Farina Pizzeria.

6 reasons NOT to stay at the Hyatt in downtown Albuquerque:
1. The towels are better at most Best Westerns.
2. The phone handset didn't work.
3. There is an extra charge for in-room wireless.
4. The $2.00 bottle of water in your room costs $5.00.
5. A cup of coffee in your room costs $5.00 + $2.50 for delivery + 18% gratuity.
6. They host workshops for http://StoresOnline.com, a company that has actions against it from WA, TX, CT, NC, IL and other states for scamming the elderly and poor people.
4 Reasons to stay at the Hyatt in downtown Albuquerque:
1. It's a beautiful facility.
2. It's close to the Convention Center.
3. If they tell you that your dry cleaning will be in at 6:00 pm and it's not, they don't charge you for it. Of course, that means that you might not be able to wear your suit at your presentation.
4. The pillows are good. -

Great staycation in the sky. Beautiful, quiet room with a gorgeous view. Sucks that you have to pay 13 dollars to park.

We got our rental car from the Enterprise in the lobby. The hotel staff was very friendly to us even though we didn't stay at the hotel itself, and offered to hail us a cab to go to the airport on our departure date. Looks like a nice clean hotel in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque.

Staying at the Hyatt room #1113. Room is nice, spacy and clean.
Let's check the good, the bad and the ugly, of the things I value;
1. Internet is like $10.00 per day - UGLY
2. Comfortable, clean bed - GOOD
3. Not enough sugar and creme for the cofee - BAD
4. Starbucks in lobby - GOOD
5. Alarm clock with Ipod dock - GOOD
6. Atmosphere - GOOD
7. Room was paid for me - PRICELESS -
Review from Mark M.
Pickings are quite slim in ABQ. I was here on business for a few days and got what I thought was a pretty good deal. Here are my thoughts to support my two star review:
- One of the nicest gyms I've ever seen.
- Pretty decent pool
- Self parking is $12 a day...a bit steep considering the market
- No free Internet. I need to say no more. It's 2010.
- Not many in-hotel dining options (I'm specifically thinking about breakfast...)
- Rooms are ok - nothing special by any means.
- Great desk chair (comfy for long sits) but desks that are not conducive to long nights working on your laptop
- For such a high end property--the showers sure aren't that great (especially if you're tall)
- A big plus - many/many well placed electrical outlets.
If the rate would have been $40 or so cheaper, I would've said three stars. If parking and Internet were free--four. -

We got a mountain view king room for $116/night through a special on Hyatt's website.
:) friendly staff, clean & modern room, ipod dock, decent sized workout room, close to airport, nice view
:/ For being a 20 story hotel, we didn't see many people.
:( Have to pay for wi-fi and parking, no in-door pool or jacuzzi, there was supposed to be a snooze option with the wake-up call that did not happen -

Pictures on their web site must be tampered with, because what looks like a pretty nice hotel is really not. I can't remember the last time I was at a hotel with an old school tv with the huge back...not to mention such bad picture I couldn't tell the score of the Olympic Hockey Game.
Other terribleness...
No bottom fitted sheet, they just drape a top sheet over the mattress.
No coffee machine in the room.
Housekeeping is very inconsistent- anytime between 8 am and 1 pm.
Housekeeping will not replenish with new towels unless asked.
Even the bar was lame with bland food. Hi-Fi, while cheaper, still cost money. Save yourself the disappointment and stay elsewhere.Comment from Sara R. of Hyatt Regency Albuquerque 6/28/2011

This hotel gives you the higher end services of the Hyatt chain, but it offers it in a more affordable venue. I went to a group event, so the rates were negotiated, but still, the $70/night/room is super cheap for a Hyatt, that in most cities would costs $200 - $300. It is a downtown hotel adjacent to an office tower and park. It has lifesize bronze sculptures of people on the sidewalks around the building. The overnight parking is in a public lot around the corner, which costs $10 night, or you can get an in/out pass for $12 at the hotel desk. It has it's own small group of shops, including a jewelry store and a chile store, and a convenient Starbuck's. There are ample ballroom and meeting rooms, and this hotel towers 19 floors in downtown ABQ, so it is one of the tallest buildings. Service is normal for a Hyatt Hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated, and the beds have a firm base but a soft luxurious mattress cover. Higher end brands in chains like Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton and Starwood have all upgraded their beds to a higher comfort level recently, competing for the same customers.
The McGrath's dining room has a good smattering of different foods for the business traveller, but if you go outside the hotel, there are more diverse and inexpensive options for food. -

On my recent cross country road trip I booked this hotel through http://hotwire.com for only $62 a night!!! The rooms were large, clean, modern and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient and the room service food was pretty darn good. Overnight parking was underground and cost $10. I highly recommend to anyone traveling to or through Albuquerque.
