Review from Mark S.
San Diego, CA
The downtown Des Moines Hyatt Place was an outstanding hotel for two road weary travelers. I was traveling cross country with my nephew and Des Moines was our first stop after leaving Detroit, MI. I stay often at Hyatt Places and have come to expect a high level of service and guest appreciation. The staff was accommodating at every turn.
The room, with two queen beds, was enormous. The hotel occupies a renovated space. The ceilings were at least 14 feet tall. The gym and pool area were very nice and modern.
An overall great experience. I don't know when I'll return to Des Moines, But this will be the only hotel for me! -

Denver, CO
I was not impressed. I grew up in Iowa, but now live in Denver. I stayed here when I was in town for meetings. The lobby is very nice and contemporary. The lounge and restaurant is also the check-in counter. It's like a Hyatt lite. Note that there is no laundry service here. Nor is there any parking.
The rooms are nice. ZERO water pressure. The toilet paper and Kleenex feel like they stole them from an Interstate rest area. The towels are thin and crispy.
Next time I think I will stay at an older hotel with a bit more culture. -

Great room, good location. You might miss this hotel if you don't look carefully. We would definitely be back if our schedule permitted. I would classify it as boutique for Des Moines, at a great price point.

For a hotel in a not so big city, this place was quite impressive. Clean, well designed rooms with plenty of space. They have 24 room service and a bar. Wireless Internet throughout and very friendly staff. If you have to be in Des Monies, I would recommend staying here

Best place to stay downtown Des Moines! Check in was quick, and they got me in my room an hour early. Staff was friendly and attentive. Room was ultra-clean, good soft bed. Needed more towels, and they were delivered in five minutes. Did not use valet parking, parking garage at 7th and Grand is cheaper and connected to the skywalks. Starbucks in the lobby was good and quick.

Review from L L.
San Francisco, CA
This is a fine place to stay, I travel extensively all over the country, but really this post is about one incredible employee there: Sean M. He's a young man with a few customer service roles there including shuttle driver. He drove me all over town when I finished my work and wanted to explore... probably 10 separate trips. There was no cost but I tipped him for each ride. Then came the heroics: I lost my Droid somewhere. We went back to place after place without finding it; I was distraught. I finally asked him to take me back to the hotel so I could try to launch my GPS phone-finder program from my laptop. With my early morning flight out approaching, I was in full-fledged panic attack mode now. But Sean arrived a short while later with the phone, he had gone back and looked further without me. Completely above and beyond! That guy's a gem. Everyone else there was great and helpful too, but I'll be forever grateful for that one incident. Thanks!
