All i can say is NUTELLA flavored ice cream!!
Simpply. Amazing. -
Review from Cheryl R.
THE ice cream hang out tradition in the Junction... before or after dinner, or just because. Winter, spring, summer, fall. Any time is a good time.
Why?
Because it's delicious, it's fun, I always run into friends, my daughter LOVES hanging out at the counter and munching away, and it just feels like "home".
They also have a deli, sandwiches, wine, chocolates and other candy, an endless array of interesting condiments, sauces and such, cold cases full of beverages at the back, etc. The only thing I'd say you should avoid at all costs is the bathrooms. They are really gross (What is it with grocery store bathrooms? They're almost always worse than gas stations). -

Although I was disappointed with their running out of the type of bread I wanted, I was not at all disappointed with the sandwiches! I had something with turkey and artichoke I believe and it was delicious.
I also love looking at their grocery items, they have such a unique and interesting variety of things and I want to buy so many of them! -
Review from Jayme T.
I love this little ice cream shop. They have tons of creative flavors such as coffee cookies and cream, raspberry ribbon, and nutella. It a great local shop with great ice cream. It is the perfect post farmer's market treat.

I have been coming here since I was in Middle School many moons ago at Madison. We would walk to Husky and get ice cream and roam the junction causing havoc, ice cream in hand:)
Now, that I am all grown up, I like to terrorize the salami section with my cold cut game face on, and baby in my ergo carrier. I am a menace.
I love any place that offers Molinari Salami, in plain and spicy. Husky also has a great variety of chocolate, and random other goodies from afar.
By the way the staff is UBER helpful and great at coming up with last minute appetizer ideas for a dinner party. -

The service was fabulous, the food was fabulous and loved the neighborhood! Everything about the place was great! The West Seattle neighborhood is really cute! I asked a local where I should grab a sandwich and without hesitation they said stop by Husky Deli!
Really awesome sandwiches! You can get your sandwiches or ice cream to go or you can sit at one of their counters. It was nice watching other locals stroll in and the staff all know them by name!
Highly recommend visiting Husky Deli if you are ever in the West Seattle neighborhood! -

Wow. This place is a must if you live in West Seattle. The deli sandwiches and panini are delicious. They have a decent selection of popular imported foods from Europe and some interesting oddities including a handmade candy selection that is huge. Their clam chowder is always hearty and is a favorite of mine. Don't miss out on this store!

Here's the deal with the Husky Deli, you can go many other places to get the very same products they sell. In fact, most of the time, it is more convenient and probably saves you some money. But, going to the Husky Deli is a very important part of the community of West Seattle. It's never more evident, then on a summer evening, as you walk by and see tens of people waiting around eating ice creaming and talking. Generations of families have been going to the Husky over the years.
Take time to make the Husky Deli a regular stop, you're cementing your place in the West Seattle community. Tons of the signs have chaned in the Junction over the years, The Husky Deli is one of the few places that has weathered the storm. Yes, Ilike the new stores opening up, providing some more options for shopping in West Seattle, but the history and nostalgia of the old places are important to retain. -

I like the selection of groceries and the sandwiches. The ice cream is delicious, but I am grossed out that the server (a young woman) didn't wear gloves. She took money, then made my cone without washing her hands or wearing gloves. I am also turned off by how messing the ice cream tub area is. Would it hurt to wipe up around the tubs every now and then? I came in one day and decided not to get ice cream because of how nasty it looked around the tubs.

Nothing like walking up and down the junction for some good foods then saving room for dessert HERE! :]
Oh did I mention Huskies... UW... Purple & Gold... All the way? HELL. YEAH.
Tried several flavors,
Strawberry
Husky Flake
Praline & Cream
Oreo Cookie
Oreo Mint
Coffee Oreo
Chocolate Fudge
etc etc...
They never fail. Everything is sooo yummy :] Cup or waffle cone it up. So many flavors, so many taste buds satisfied. Mmm! -

I first came here when I was about 9 years old. I am now 31! I go back to Seattle at least once a year and every time I go I try to drop by Husky at least once. I get a scoop or two of their ice cream that is the best on the planet. It is sooooo good. If you haven't had it and you live in Seattle, you must rush there immediately!
They used to make these raspberry scones years ago that were the most delicious I'd ever had as well. I believe they stopped making them at some point :(
I also like to stock up on their international products, such as marmite, BP sauce, etc. mm mm.
BEST deli in all of Seattle, no question. -

The ice cream... oh the ice cream... nothing beats it! The sandwiches are above average, and my husband gets to reminsce on his childhood as he scans the aisle of German candies. In the summer the lines are terrible, so bypass them by taking a container home, it's much more reasonably priced that way as well.
Coffee Oreo is where it's at! -

Great chocolates, pasta side dishes ! Ice cream is ok-I don't see what the fuss is all about. There is one young lady that works there who seems like she HATES her job. Avoid her if you can, you'll know who I'm talking about. It's worth a stop in if you're in the area.

After the craziness of Mobile Chowdown 2011, can't help but stop by at the cute little stop offering grocery items that are considered quite unique and rare, not something that you will usually find in a store. It is a combination of three awesome sides, like the Two-faced man from Batman, but this time, adding another surprising face. A deli, a grocery store, an ice cream parlor. Who knew that three in one, I'm your typical Asian, if I can get three things in one package, I'll surely go for it. But I don't think that's a race stereotype, everyone would go for it!
Heard good reviews on the sandwhich but this time, I'm all for icecream. You scream ice cream. I scream ice cream. We all scream for icecream. This place will turn into a busy Wall Street Station where all the bidders shout and shout for what they desire. It's sort of like that situation. But, we're all mad for ice cream.
This place was hectic post-Mobile Chowdown. The lines weren't ending, I sort of feel bad for the servers. Just so you know, I tried to scoop ice cream myself once and it was like an excruciating workout for my arms. I always though Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris developed killer arm muscles from scooping up traditional homemade icecream for the crazy kids. Kids go nuts for ice cream, they would do anything. Change the situation of having a stranger offer you candy from a black tinted window van to shady looking dude offering you icecream from the local icecream truck. I'm sure almost everyone would go for the shady dude with icecream. Come on, we're talking about one of the best desserts, best creation since sliced bread. Turn dairy into fine creamy goodness. Start picturing, now moan with pleasure for upcoming foodgasm.
After waiting like everybody else, I got into line and she said some of the best sentences I have ever heard. "What would you like today?" That's good service right there, when you set aside all your personal problems or complaints and treat a customer like Obama. Or someone else as important.
I got half scoops because I saw the man in front of me get a double scoop (normal size, or should I say, WTF size), I just shuddered, it's not like I won't try to tackle that, but I had my gaze on quality not quantity. A half scoop of Chocolate Swiss Orange, and another half scoop of Blackberry Cheesecake. Never thought that I would get Chocolate Swiss Orange, but these Yelpers are so convincing! They are almost brain washing me, and turning me into a robot that obeys their commands. And the other choice, Blackberry Cheesecake, well, I'm a lady who loves her cheesecake. Just give me a man who provides me with unlimited cheese made into different culinary goodness (eg. Cheesecake) and you can put a ring in my finger. The idea of mixing ice cream and cheesecake is just a wonderful feat, whoever thought of that, I applaud you. I give thanks, and grace.
The chocolate swiss orange was interesting, it's like those chocolate orange bars that are of high quality (Lindt) that I've tasted in some course of my life. It's a perfect carbon copy in ice cream version. No complaints here! It was wonderful. Just try it and you won't regret it. Unless you don't like chocolate (which is impossible, we cannot be friends), or you don't like orange.
Husky Deli pridefully says that they have been making traditional homemade icecream since God knows when, when gramma started getting bored of knitting maybe? It sure is everything it proclaims, it's good homemade icecream. Creamy, smooth, heavy flavors. Something you can never achieve in processed frozen ice creams in the frozen food section of a grocery store. This is down to the originals! Don't ever compare The Beatles to something that's "in" now. The real classics will outweigh the convenient.
The Blackberry Cheesecake had real blackberry flavored jam swirls in the icecream, cool addition! The color was a little off, but I guess, that's when you don't use additional coloring! All naturale! It was good the first few bites, but turned out to be too sweet after a while. On the other hand, the chocolate swiss orange used dark chocolate so it was a great pair with the orange (slight acidic yet sweet citrus taste), and it doesn't make me feel sick.
Great place, I especially adore the wooden booths for people to eat in, really reminds me of the good old days (like I ever experience one, maybe from vintage photographs, let me just live the moment, don't interrupt). It also faces a large transparent window, so I can people watch. I love people watching, don't get me wrong, it's a good past time, not the creepy looking staring at you every move you make, just seeing people interact and go. It's cool.
I want to try all the flavors one day, there is almost 20 flavors or so here, and every one of them sound so intriguing. Like something you never thought before made into icecream. Chocolate bars has been revolutionized into icecream! To last longer, like mummifying! Greatness! -

Husky Deli is an interesting place. It's got a rich family owned West Seattle history. They make fantastic sandwiches and amazing ice cream. It's almost perfect...
The thing is, and I feel bad saying something, but it could really be cleaner. The ceiling is kind of nasty looking, and there is a lot of dust and dirt evident. It's not so much that it needs a remodel, more just a REALLY thorough spring cleaning.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should definitely get something here, but I'd probably suggest you go elsewhere to eat it :). I suggest the Jack's sandwich or the Coconut ice cream, both are delightful. -
Review from Ivan L.
My mind swims at the crazy notion that Husky Deli doesn't have 5 stars. It is the best in Seattle for TWO CATEGORIES: deli and ice-cream. I dare you to try and find somewhere better. You'll go insane trying.
They've got a fantastic selection of meats and cheeses for fresh made sandwiches or cold-cuts to take home. Husky has the best trained "slicers" in the city. They carefully slice every slice and then carefully lay every slice with OCD precision onto butcher block paper. Thinner meats or softer cheese will get a piece of paper between every slice. This is nothing like the shredded mess of deli meat many Seattle shops slice up.
Then there's the ice-cream. OMFG. Like 30 something flavors and not a hipster freak out flavor in the bunch. Just really solid stuff.
The final note, where Husky isn't leading the city but maybe winning the customer's hearts is the staff. They're a locally owned business and many of the employees are part of the owner's family. Everybody is super friendly and helpful.
Having moved to San Francisco, I miss Husky Deli. -

I have lived in West Seattle for almost 4 months. I don't know how I went this long without going here. It was wonderful. Today I had an excellent gourmet grilled cheese sandwich and some yummy squash soup. No only was the deli counter excellent but they have a lot of gourmet and foreign food and candy items. They also seem to have an excellent choice of ice creams...including nutella flavor! I will be back....often!

This review is for the ice cream.
One of the better "old-fashioned" ice cream I've tasted. It reminds me of my favoritie ice cream shop in San Francisco called Bi-Rite Creamery. Husky's ice cream is creamy and very true to the flavor. I had the blackberry cheesecake, but I've also tasted the salted caramel and raspberry blue ribbon. I woudl have ordered the salted caramel with blackberry cheesecake, but they did not have enough of salted caramel to make one scoop.
Bottom line is "Would I come back?" The answer is YES If I am in the neighborhood and, I'd recommend the place. I am not sure though that I will have their sandwiches.... -

I like the sandwiches, but honestly nothing that special. In terms of small neighborhood shops like that of West Seattle sure its pretty good, but you can find better. If you come in those really busy hours, be prepared to wait 10-20 mins for sandwiches/ice cream.
Overall not bad, but nothing to write home about. -

This place is great. Part grocery store, deli, ice cream parlor, and candy store. It is a definate throw back. They have great grilled panini sands with just the right amount of everything. The ice cream is good and the candy is bizarre. Grab a bite, sit near the window and people watch. I love Husky Deli.

Review from Robert K.
I'd like to give it a 4.5, but rounded up since my wife enjoyed it a tad more than I. We came here after a bad Chinese dinner up the street and was I pleasantly surprised, even coming in with slightly high expectations due to the reviews. The ice cream is great! They have a good assortment of flavors, fairly priced ($3/scoop), and been serving since 1932! I make this officially my 2nd favorite ice cream place in the state of WA.
Hints/Flavors: As always, I asked if I could have two 1/2 scoops so I could try two flavors (cappucino, kona). Both were excellent, they let you try many flavors with no weird looks and give decent spoonfuls to let you actually taste it.
Disclaimer: I've only been here once but will definitely stop by again any time I am in the area. Only ate the ice cream, nothing else so don't contribute my rating to other items. For those that care, service was excellent and friendly. My dad dropped his ice cream and they gave him a new one with no complaints. -

When I lived in West Seattle, this was my favorite place to go to. The ice cream selection was always wonderful, the cheese and meat selection was wonderful, the imported and hard-to-find ingredients and spreads and such were vast and lovely....really, I can't think of anything bad to say about this place.
At the time money was a bit tight, so I split my shopping between Safe Way and this deli; most of the meats and cheeses were not only of a better quality, but also a better price. This is just a tiny testament to their affordability.
Finally, service was always wonderful; the employees were always helpful, quick to help, and informative.
Highly recommend this place. Check it out. -

4 words: coffee oreo ice cream!! The best I've ever had, period! They don't skimp on the oreos which is key. They sell a big tub of it for like $7 too so you can keep it in your freezer and secretly pig out on it in the privacy of your own home.
Other than the ice cream, I've come here for items I can't get in other stores like proscuitto and pancetta by the pound (way cheaper than buying it pre-packaged at grocery stores). And they have a great selection of candy by the pound and good wine choices too. I usually don't associate with anything "Husky" but you can't go wrong here. -

Never a dull moment at the Husky Deli!! I love their Nutella ice cream!! It is to die for!!! Also I love getting their sandwiches, Turkey and Havarti with avocado..YUMMY!! West Seattle is where my heart lies!! I love everything there is in the junction and I do not even have to drive far for something yummy to eat and for a good time!

Husky Deli is definitely a one stop shop of awesome.
They offer ice cream, deli, and dried/canned goods. I came by today for lunch and ordered the Turkish Delight Sandwich ($5.50 for whole sandwich), which consists of turkey, cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mango chutney. I give Husky Deli major props for using mango chutney instead of the traditional cranberry sauce. I also got a huge bowl of soup ($3) -- Mushroom Sherry and it was packed filled with mushrooms.
Great lunch destination for those who love sandwiches and being able to get a lunch for less than $10.Listed in: Wicked Wich of the West: The…

I had the grilled chicken pesto panini and I am not kidding around when I say it is the most delicious sandwich I have ever tasted in my life. The fresh mozzarella was a dream come true, and the rest of the sandwich was just as fresh as the mozzarella. The flavors were simple, but exquisite.
I also had a scoop of cookie dough ice cream on a cone. Again, I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best scoop of ice cream I have ever had. The cookie chunks were generous, and the ice cream part was a sweet cream...not too sweet to where it competed with the cookie dough, but just right.
Marry me, Husky Deli. -

Whether you're here to pick up a few relatively exotic grocery items, or for the out of this world ice cream, or for the great sandwiches, cheeses and meats, you'll agree that this place is a must.
On this particular visit, after a great dinner at Mashiko next door, we stopped in at Husky for a bit of ice cream. Not only did I love the dessert, but I really like the way the place is set up. A great big table with stools along the sides. You get to watch kids and adults of all ages dig into their ice cream (toddlers using their ice cream cones like pencils tracing the wood grain) or sandwiches.
It's family friendly, and people run into each other from the neighborhood here all the time. It's like being in a small town again, plus Nutella. -

Best icecream EVER.
Pros:
-HUGE scoops for super cheap

-Interesting groceries
Cons:

Tips?
Try the peppermint icecream (little chunks of peppermint candy that will take you back to your childhood) and the swiss chocolate orange icecream
Try the cinnamon bears if you want authentically spicy and not sticky cinnamon bears! They're delicious -

Ugh. Come on, people.
This place is disgusting, and has been for years. I walked past the back door last night at 6 pm, and I was nearly knocked over by the smell of the full, stinking garbage bags that were lining the back hallway.
Filthy.
Go ahead - go in, look around, sniff. I DARE you to try the macaroni salad! -

Four Star so far due to the fact I have only been to the Husky Deli once, but it was a good enough experience to keep me going back. The main reason why I give it a Four is because I haven't tried the sandwiches yet. Other than that I had the Maple Walnut ice cream which was very good, the customer service was quick and friendly too!! A very pleasant experience!!
The only downside for me was that the ice cream scoop was WAAAAAY too big and I had ordered the one scoop!! If this is a plus for you, then great. But for people like me that may not have as big of an appetite, and doesn't like wasting food. Then it may be better to eyeball the size of some people's cones before ordering yours. -

Really good sandwiches and ice cream! My favorite flavors: coconut (light, delicious, with yummy coconut flakes), french orange, and raspberry swirl. I usually get a single scoop, but they let you split flavors so it's like getting double-baby-scoops! They also do really good sandwiches; fresh and flavorful and plentiful but I can't really wax poetic on those because I'm usually eating their ice cream for lunch instead. I'm not typically a fan of potato salad but I like their version of it.
If you're bored of waiting in line for ice cream/deli foods, the rest of the store is fun to wander through. Lots of intriguing goodies I've not seen in other grocery stores, and lots of chocolate!
Customer service has always been really kind and patient, even when they are crowded and busy. Definitely one of my favorite places for lunch + dessert. -
Review from Toshi I.
This is part grocery store, deli and ice cream shop which offered a variety of flavors. It's a nice way to top off the day after walking around and checking out all the other restaurants and stores in this area.
I got the coffee oreo which was unique and awesome with a strong flavor! We sat facing the street. This is one of those casual places you can bring a paper and read while eating your lunch. I cannot comment on the sandwiches but I just love quaint places like this! -

We love this place and will drive from Ballard to eat here. Amazingly large and yummy sammies. Ice cream is great - so many choices! And, the hard to find imported treats from Europe and beyond make creating a gift basket a fun task. Love the very friendly, old school way of customer service. Great job Husky Deli!

With all the employees working behind the counter you would think they would have a system down but they don't. I went on a week day and it was disorganized. A single file line was formed in front of the cash register but the blond girl with glasses decided to help a customer outside of the line. The customer didn't care there were other people waiting. The lady in front of me looked back and gave me a confused look. I acknowledged her confusion. When it was finally my turn a different person came up to the register and asked if I had been helped yet. I was surprised by the question and told her, "No." I ordered the Southwest Chicken Panini. It was carelessly slapped together: half had meat and the other half had veggies. I should have gone to subway.

Coffee oreo ice cream. Divine. You don't need anything else.
They also have an impressive selection of specialty sliced-to-order deli meats. We get the best pepperoni in town here.
