Hu's is an Asian food restaurant, I say Asian rather any specific country as the menu includes items traditionally found in Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese restaraunts. The food is good though pay attention to the spice ratings as when they say hot they actually mean hot. Dishes look to be meant for one person with a side of rice or noodles though you are given plates to encourage sharing. The General Tso's chicken is all right though reminiscent of sweet & sour chicken balls. The Kung Pao is good but very spicy; make sure you have plenty of water available. And for dessert I recommend the fried bananas with ice cream; something about the hot / cold makes the dessert memorable and one of the few times I enjoy eating a banana. As another reviewer noted, the food is good but not authentic, however the service and overall atmosphere make up for the Canadian style cooking and have kept me returning for more.
Hu's is located at the Goldeneyes baseball park and has a patio from which you can take in a ball game. I've only visited Winnipeg in the winter and never had the opportunity though I would definitely attend if I had the chance.
So repeat after me...
Hu's on first?

We have been there a few times for special occasions and it is always delicious! Last time we went the we had the pot stickers and they were a bit too spicy for my taste but everything else was delicious. A great place for special occasions and double dates!

A WOW Hospitality, Asian Bistro concept restaurant. This is probably the only one of its kind in Winnipeg that serves up Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes in a more stylized decor. But many other cities have these Asian bistro concepts such as Spring Rolls in Toronto that boasts much better dishes.
I'd say this is a place for people who don't really eat Asian food but want to try it in a "safe" environment. I say this because the only people who tell me they love this place tends to be the ones who generally eat at the generic franchise restaurants and think that Hu's is "exotic." Otherwise, if you like Asian food, I'd say you're better off going to an authentic local restaurant where you'll get great dishes at a better price point.
But the one thing I do like about this place is that the dishes that are marked as spicy do live up to their ratings. We go here for a lot of work lunches so I usually opt for the the kung pao chicken dish (3 spice rating) since it's super spicy.
It has an open kitchen and can get quite loud when the place gets busy. There's also a patio overlooking Can West Global Park where the Goldeyes play which is probably a nice place to sit when there's a game on.
Overall, not my first choice for good Asian food.
