We go to Hume Park mainly for its big, sunny dog park. The dog park is all fenced in, doesn't have a lot of trees shading it like the one at Queen's Park, and seems to attract a lot of other people with bigger dogs, too. The dog run is shaped like a big L that wraps around some of the park's other features, like a sports field, kids' playground and water park, and an outdoor pool for summer.

The only drawback to this park is that there isn't a lot of parking. But most of the users are locals, and it's on bus and bike routes, so it doesn't seem to be a huge issue for most of the year.

It's on a hillside and there's a nice view from where I'm standing, watching my dog play. I think it's nice when we dog people get a pleasant place to hang out; so often, you're relegated to a damp muddy pit with your mutt.

(A-very-family-review) When it comes to kids and parks, they like space and variety! So my kids loved this park, it has a good splashing pool, swimming pool, play sets, and wide space to play multi sports. All of these in park that dogs are supposed to be leached. the place is fine in terms of distance supervision, so you set comfortably and watch the kids!

There is a good parking space in front of the park, but it's limited for two hours limit, though not sure who much this limit is enforced

The park does not have any close by shops to buy any snacks from, so you need to plan your picnic right.

A tiny park in New West.  There's a tiny river that runs through it. It's called the Brunette River, and it looks more like a creek. In the Fall, if you're lucky, you might see salmon return to the river.  If you go upstream a bit more through the wooded area, it becomes larger and wider. It's an ideal place to try some fly fishing for trout with a dry fly. This dull looking river is filled with many species of aquatic species. There are rainbow trout, coho, chum, sockeye, chinook and steelhead, as well as cutthroat trout, carp, stickleback, red-sided shiners, prickly sculpins, smallmouth bass and peamouth chub. There are also crayfish, lampreys and tadpoles. Yes, I said crayfish and they actually look like small lobsters! You gotta see it to believe it! How exotic eh?

There is also a swimming pool, a small playground for the kids and some green space for the dogs. Honestly, nothing special really. Brunette River is what makes this park unique.

All salmon hooked must be released because salmon fishing is prohibited.
