I called this store in September, and asked if it was part of a chain.
Clerk: "A what?"
"A chain. Is your store part of a chain?"
Clerk: "I don't know that word. I only work here part-time."
"Chain... c-h-a-i-n."
Clerk: "I don't know that word. Sorry."
"It's like a franchise."
Clerk: "French fries?"
"No, no. A chain is a big group of stores, like McDonald's."
Clerk: "Uh... we are not owned by McDonald's. There's another store downtown."
"Yes, I know... so are they owned by the same person or company?"
"There are only two of us who work here."
I wish I was kidding.
