Review from M G.
The staff was all superlatively, incredibly nice, in spite of our not speaking French. That really made the experience warm and inviting. Our stay was really pleasant. It wasn't cheap, but was less expensive than the large hotel chains. The location was really nice, just inside the old city on a pretty street and a short, fun walk from the most bustling tourist areas.
The room was very pretty, with updated granite fixtures and a large flat screen TV. While the carpet was oldish and not in perfect condition, the room was kept extremely clean. It was a very pretty room with a comfortable bed and high quality bedding. Breakfast was nothing noteworthy but consistently replenished until breakfast hour was over. It consisted of some fruit salad, cereal, croissants, juice, coffee and hard boiled eggs. Again, the breakfast staff was incredibly nice, way beyond what you'd ever expect. Wifi was good. Parking was $17 I think, and the space was behind the building, which meant that you had to walk around the block to get there. No big deal at all, considering how centrally located the hotel is and how little parking there is in the old city. We were able to drop off our stuff out front before putting the car behind the building. ONE WARNING, NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. There is no elevator at all, and steps just to get in the door. Be prepared to carry your stuff upstairs.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this place. They give a AAA discount as well. -
Review from B J.
The hotel is located in the Upper town area of Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec City). It's within the walls of Old town, but on the edge (the last street before the wall), so it's about equidistant from the rest of Old town and the Parliament area. It's a charming hotel with cute rooms...our room was on the top floor, so we had a slant in our ceiling, which added character to the room. The rooms are a good size and very clean.
However, there were a few drawbacks. There are no elevators, so we had to carry our luggage 4 floors (the receptionist was kind enough to help us with our bags)...but it seems all of the older buildings in Old town don't have elevators. The other problem was that the walls are paper thin. Our bed was right next to the door, so we could hear everyone in the hallway. We could also hear people talking in the next room. I was not able to get a good nights' sleep that night. Also, the parking lot for the hotel only has a few spots (I think 4), so you have to park down the street and around the corner and still pay the same amount ($17).
We paid $130 for the hotel, which was a pretty good deal for the location/quality of the hotel, but I was frustrated that I didn't have a better sleep experience.

History
Established in 1953
In 1953, the Manoir d'Auteuil opened its doors as a hotel. Over the years, many upgrades have been completed to keep the hotel in style with modern amenities but the original designs have always been preserved. The effect is a combination of the original London Style and stone of 1835 with an interior remodeled in the Beaux-Arts style of Omer Marchand. Originally a unique single family home, the Manoir d'Auteuil has preserved its heritage and history while serving as a modern day hotel that has become the most referred small hotel in Old Quebec (Hotel Vieux Quebec).
