Orbitz and a good deal? I was stoked. Walking into the lobby with its high ceilings, sounds of water and friendly conceirge and I was off to a good start.
The room itself was pleasant with a great shower including a cute little wooden bench. The bed was comfy and the wifi was powerful enough for my needs. A stickler for zero light, I was disappointed to see the hallway light radiating around almost my entire door. It wouldn't have been so bad had I not been given the runt of the rooms. You know the one, don't you? Here its name is Room 201 - second floor with a lovely view of the street - almost at street level from the window and from the door, a /lovely/ view at the front desk. One more doozy? It's right beside the maid's closet. And outside my door was chatter, the sound of the cart rolling by and stopping in front of my room, all morning long.
I really like the hotel, and I wonder if those that book through discount sites get the shaft, but, regardless... I just want to live the high life. Like literally. Put me on a higher floor, gosh dang it!Listed in: Planning a Trip to Ottawa

I love EVERY bit of this hotel.
It's my favourite in Ottawa, and I've stayed at some of the more up-scale ones in town. The location is perfect being on Metcalfe. It's a 5 minute walk to the Hill, and about 10 to the Market. The atmosphere inside is incredibly unique. With a massive skylight opening above the entirety of the building, it's very bright and spacious. It isn't built like most hotels in terms of how the floors are constructed. The staff are always very helpful here, the rooms are MASSIVE and if you aren't lucky enough to get one of the rooms that end in a 10 (essentially you're getting an apartment to yourself), you'll end up with a room that includes a hot tub, some outdoorsy themed wall paper, and a very modern, overall appearance.
The restaurant on the bottom floor is also pretty good, although pricey. They offer a little bit of everything in terms of food and it even has a full bar.
A couple of tips when checking in:
Parking is underground, and is really the only thing I can criticize about the Indigo. You can very easily miss the entry to parking if you don't know what to look for. It's also a very small space that is shared with the Marriott hotel and the public. Because of this, if you leave your parking spot in the morning and try to come back during typical business hours, there's a good chance you may not actually be able to get a spot. This may require you to pull off a 20 point turn (I kid you not, space is TIGHT here folks) to get your way back out of the parking lot. -

A very centrally located offering from IHG's emergent Indigo brand, nicely converted a few years ago from what I seem to recall was a HoJos.
The rooms are tastefully if simply furnished, as are the lobby and attrium.
Underground parking, a swimming pool, and guest laundry are all available.
The customer focus from the staff has always been very good, even for the better-than-average standards implicit with "those nice Canadians".
This establishment has become my default choice for the city on multiple stays since it opened, and is thus a candidate for what I'm tentatively calling the "3 1/2 Star Band" - notionally mid-market 3* establishments that just try a little bit harder, without the pretensions or prices of 4*.
Finally, I'd like to pick up on the lack of doorman / bellman which some other reviewers have commented adversely on. I suspect this is a matter of perspective: I fit the archetype of "road warrior", and most people I've met using this Indigo also fit a very similar profile (try watching George Clooney's character in the film "Up In The Air" if you don't). As such people tend to carry only as much as they need, and always use rolling luggage, this tends to render such "assistance" redundant ... and therefore makes it something hotels which cater to and understand their typical customers can dispense with.Listed in: Staying

I had a great stay here in October 2011 for a 5 day business trip. The location is wonderful: about a 4-5 minute walk to Parliament and many other downtown Ottawa attractions.
Some of my favorite features:
Decent size hotel room, well laid out. Complimentary fridge in it - only some rooms have this, so ask for it if of interest to you for drinks etc
Free, strong, reliable wi-fi in room and in beautiful lobby
I requested a room on the Metcalfe side and was very pleased with the suitability of it for a longer stay. Good size desk area for work.
Friendly front desk personnel, always happy to help, even with receiving and storing (for free!) heavy packages for my conference shipped in advance and holding a specific room for me that hotel personnel had identified in advance would be best for my stay.
Room service with NO service charge or auto-gratuity. Just pay (reasonable) menu prices and tip as you wish.
Indoor pool and gym were better than most hotel offerings, as an fyi, these are shared amenities with adjoining hotel but you can access directly from Hotel Indigo on 3rd floor.
Only negatives:
Bed was a little firm for me
Limited TV channels (maybe this is just Canada though as compared to US TV offerings in hotels)
Overall, a great stay in a wonderful, beautiful town. I would happily return! -

I found nothing wrong with the hotel. It is situated in the perfect location in downtown Ottawa, with very friendly front service desk, pleasant decor, a decent amount of room space for singles or couples (probably less so for families), good bath products and a functional gym and pool. My room was clean from the start and housekeeping was trustworthy and attentive. Several of my requests were catered to as well, including asking for various toiletries that I neglected to bring and a late checkout was kindly accommodated.
I didn't get a chance to try the Phi restaurant but it looked nice from the outside. It isn't a 5 solely because it is not exactly door-crashing value to stay here (although the ideal location more than makes up for it) and it really isn't a "boutique" hotel other than a wallpaper and a clean hardwood floor, but these can be overlooked. I would likely stay here for my next visit to Ottawa. -

Hotel Indigo is a a motel style ""hotel"" location is fantastic for price $99 a night thru hotwire, but in my opinion I would stay closer to Sussex next time. I have stayed in the Westin/Chateau Laurier/Lord Elgin/Crowne Plaza, I prefer the Westin to the all for location and amentities. On to review
The lobby of the Hotel is somewhat Ikea''ish and the decor all around is very 1st year Home Decor Course. Having said that the staff are very accomodating and the hotel is clean.
The rooms lack a few things that would make it comfortable for a longer stay (we stayed 4 nights). Missing: Fridge, Shelving (there was four of us not enough places to put things), Microwave, Safe. There also isn't a doorman and parking is underground. To check-in you basically have to park illegally out front and then find out where to park. We didnt' need parking since we flew, but most will be driving from around the Golden Horseshoe area.
Although everything is a close walk in Ottawa, this is a business area and lacks any feel of being in a city come wknd. Very quiet with not much going on in the gerneral vacinity.
Don't expect any fantastic views like Chateau Laurier & Westin. This is basic. We were lucky enough to get a room that had a window facing Laurier. Some of the Interior rooms have windows facing the inside of the hotel that has a huge skylight to emit light to those rooms.
The gym and pool were up to snuff and were well used, very busy at times.
One Note: make sure you ask for room bed sizes they orginally had us in two double beds, which was quickly changed to two queen. -

Stayed here over a three day holiday (U.S. holiday) weekend. Great location. Walking distance to most everything and reasonable access to cabs on weekends. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good value price for the quality of the room. The breakfast service at the hotel restaurant was SLOW by U.S. standards so relax and pretend like your in Europe, the food is good for a hotel. The convenience of their parking garage is worth the price. The pool and workout room were functional but not a reason to stay here. I would recommend it.

This hotel was really nice! The location is very convenient, closely located to the main shopping mall, the Rideau Canal, The Canadian Museum of Nature, the Parliament building (Parliament Hill cats) and more. Considering neither me nor my boyfriend drive, the hotel was in walking distance of most tourist attractions. The Hotel Indigo looks amazing at night time as the entire hallway/walls glow a light blue colour. The employees were extremely nice, offering to take our bags and even making reservations for us at a nearby restaurant after drawing a quick map of the nearby attractions. When it was finally time to check out, we still had a few hours to kill before our train arrived to take us home. The hotel staff allowed us to use their computers with Internet access while we waited.
I can honestly say this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. We left feeling satisfied and happy. If I were to go back to Ottawa, I would 100% definitely be staying at the Hotel Indigo again. -

I visited the Indigo Hotel for the first time on Valentines Day weekend. It was in a great location, right across the street from the Rideau Canal Skateway + the Ottawa Winter festival.
Indigo was nice, the rooms were pretty big and the adjoining bathroom was really modern and spacious. I didn't get a chance to swim in the pool, but I appreciate the fact that it does have one.
The parking was $22 for a 24 hour period, with in and out privileges, which is an excellent rate compared to other places I've gone. You can also keep your car in the garage after you have checked out, which is super convenient.
I had a couple of problems with the room, it was really cold upon arrival, which the staff quickly remedied with a space heater. The staff did their best to solve any other problems and were really friendly throughout our visit.
All in all, the Indigo was a good stay. It's in a good location, has attractive rooms, and is decently priced. I might try The Arc hotel that is down the street if I'm ever in Ottawa again, but I definitely enjoyed my time at Indigo. -

Nice hotel located close to downtown and tourist areas. There weren't any doormen, which was a bit odd. Otherwise it was very nice: comfy beds, good internet, etc. The hotel is good for group meetings, but the meeting rooms are a bit small. No matter what they tell you, 14 people are not going to fit comfortably in the Golden Ratio Room.

Great little boutique hotel ideally situated just a few blocks from both the canal and Parliament Hill. The pics on their website actually don't do the rooms justice. Mine was very comfortable, stylish and nicely appointed. The hardwood floors are a nice touch. Hotel fitness centres are always an issue for me, and the one here was actually quite good, and they have a pool; it's more than I normally expect from a smaller hotel of this calibre. Hotel restaurant is just okay, but there are so many places nearby to dine, I'd skip it. My only issues (and they were minor) were with housekeeping; not quite as attentive as it should have been (forgot to replace towels, bathmat, coffee filters). Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here over the holidays. Overall, a very nice hotel. The room has all the amenities one could need, well except a mini bar but they're overpriced anyway right? The only negative thing I would say about this place was that the blankets were REALLY heavy. It felt like you were trapped under them. Not sure if they are trying to make guests feel warm and cozy because the weather in Ottawa during December is not for sane people. (Don't worry I grew up there, I can say these things) Oh yes and parking is expensive and there are no doormen to help you with your bags. Either way it was a decent hotel stay especially since it was free.
