Review from Janet D.
I stayed here a few days on business in early June and I have nothing but fantastic things to say. The stay was courteous, the ambiance pleasant and my suite was simply stated huge, with two mini balconies overlooking the harbor.
Breakfast was nicely done, a buffet style or a la carte. I did both and found the a la carte preferable, but that's a style preference.
The culinary highlight was definitely the tea program. I should clarify and say I DO NOT like tea, but when in Rome. Served in the Mark this is not your average high tea. They are alcoholic infused teacocktails, the finger foods are a variety of dim sum inspired dishes...tea cured salmon, house made Andouille sausage and quail egg, smoked halibut and Dungeness crab croquette with lemon aioli, fried ocean wise prawn dumpling and bbq pork bun.... my mouth waters at the thought!
While not a uber modern hotel nor a graceful old dame the Hotel Grand Pacific sits somewhere in the middle and does it exceptionally well. -

Great location - a few steps away from the Inner Harbour and the Port Angeles ferry. Easy, easy walking distance to major Victoria sights.
This is a big city hotel in a small/mid size market town. I've stayed in Preferred Hotels (the chain that The Grand Pac is part of) out in Asia. One usually finds them only in major cities like Tokyo or Shanghai. A bonus for Victoria. Across the chain, all very comfortable hotels.
We had a very good room rate for a Rotary International convention - but still a tad pricey if you were traveling with a family compared to smaller hotels nearby. Parking was very reasonable compared to the highway robbery one pays in Seattle hotels.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Free internet. The staff was super helpful in answering all our questions about how to get here or there from the hotel. They couldn't be more friendly (atypical of a big city hotel).
The breakfast restaurant served a nice meal , although the buffet was disappointing. Typical city hotel prices ($15+ for breakie). The bar made a super martini. Although we did not use the health club, a number of locals we met all said it was the best hotel health club / pool in Victoria.
All in all, a very good hotel experience. -

Had a fantastic stay here!
Directly across the street from the ferry docks and within walking distance to numerous bars, restaurants, and museums. Ideal location.
I spent one night in a Pacific Room and one night in a Victoria Suite. The Pacific Room was cute, had a harbor view, had a tiny balcony, had a nice tv, and was an ideal size. The Victoria Suite had a living room with pull-out couch, a balcony which had a mediocre city view, and all the same bathroom amenities. The only advantage the Victoria Suite had over the Pacific Room was more accommodations for sleeping with the pull-out couch. So if you're just going by yourself or with one other person, I would recommend going with the Pacific Room.
Staff was friendly, but they did not tell me when I called to book my room that the hotel would be closed during my stay. Not a huge deal, but something that should have been said. -

My family of four stayed here 1 night during Spring Break (March). The hotel was very nice. Excellent location as it was within walking distance of the Parliament Buildings, shopping, restaurants, and the inner harbour. The hotel has a very nice 25 meter lap pool. As well, there is a kids pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness center, & weight room. Room and beds were very comfortable. Free internet. Self-parking was $16/day. Valet parking $24/day. Felt we got a good deal at $101 for the night.

I was in town for work during the summer. And had the pleasure of staying for the week. I loved the suite I was upgraded to - and the treatment I received.
My room had two patios. TWO! And an amazing view of the harbour. I was treated like one of the family. After a long day of work - when the staff asked "How was your day?" and upon seeing that I had a shopping bag, asked what I bought. When they found out it was tea, quickly noted "We will bring a kettle right up for you". And since that was at midnight..I thought that was pretty fantastic. It is the extra little touches that make you feel at home away from home.
They also happen to have a great gym - and while I am just a little too lazy to actually USE it, they keep that our little secret. Which I really appreciate. Well done guys. Thank you so much. -

I came here earlier this year in January for a quick visit after a company meeting in Seattle. I got an amazing deal through the Clipper. How can one go wrong with round trip fare and one night stay for $150? The ferry transportation is very convenient! I cannot, however, recommend staying at this hotel. The staff here is very dishonest, and RUDE!
Immediately upon checking out, and I mean IMMEDIATELY -- as in I'm still downstairs in the hotel lobby, kind of immediately!! -- realized that I had forgotten my very valuable watch upstairs in my hotel room. Knowing precisely where I had left it, I asked for permission to go back up. The front desk people called the manager on duty, Tim Yeo. He refused to let me go back upstairs and instead, had a room checker go retrieve my belongings. The room checker, Risara Piyo, who is also a supervisor, told Tim over the phone that nothing was found. Surprise, surprise. After causing much of a scene down in the lobby, and listening to Tim's condescending tone towards me and basically calling me a liar stating "You mean to tell me that my associate, Risara, whom I might state is also a supervisor here in our hotel, would not be honest about this?" -- he finally agrees to let me go back into the room to check myself. I agree and went back up, even though knowing what's the point. The "room checker" is already long gone with my watch. Needless to say, I went home watch-less.
After I got back home, I tried to be optimistic. I sifted through my bags multiple times, called every single day and kept in close contact with the general manager, Scott Wedekind, who was very kind over the phone. The watch was never to be seen or heard of again.
I've already accepted it for what it is and all I'll ever say is, what goes around comes around. -

We booked this hotel as part of a cheap overnight package deal with the Victoria Clipper. Given that it was $100 for round trip, plus a night's hotel, I thought the place might be a dump. Happily, the Hotel Grand Pacific is a slightly aged 4-star hotel, and nowhere near to qualifying for 'dump' status.
It's almost spitting distance from the Clipper dock, and a short walk to the main tourist areas of Victoria (Government Street, the Parliament buildings, the BC Museum, the Empress, etc.). Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. They let us stay past the usual 11am check-out time, and then stored our luggage in a secure office until it was time to return to the ship. Darrin was especially helpful, as he called to make us reservations for tea, and showed us on the map how to get there, and how to get to a restaurant we wanted to go to the following day. He also told us the restaurant had changed names, which was a big help in preventing us from wandering about lost!
The room was a reasonably good size with two queen beds, a desk that doubles as a nightstand, a table with coffee and tea supplies, a TV, minibar, and most helpful a sink both in and out of the bathroom. It was too cold to spend much time on the balcony which had a partial view of the Parliament buildings. Free Internet access was available via a free ethernet cable provided in the room, and there is also limited internet access available in the hotel's cafe. Most importantly, everything was clean and orderly. The pool is currently closed for renovations, but since we had no plans to visit the pool, this didn't bother us. They were putting up Christmas decorations on the day we arrived.
All in all, I might not pay full rate to stay here, but if I booked another package involving the Clipper, I would be more than happy to stay here again. -

Stayed here this past weekend with the family. Thanks to my Dad being a frequent visitor, we were able to upgrade to a suite for the price of a regular room. They allotted us a room with a beautiful view of the harbour, that was huge and perfect for four adults.
Even though there was a big street hockey tournament and tons of players staying on our floor, the room was always quiet and no hallway noise could be heard. The pull out couch proved to be more comfortable than your standard 'bar in the middle of your back' variety and thankfully allowed for a quality sleep.
We had breakfast the next morning at the main restaurant and enjoyed their Sunday brunch. $19.50 is pretty high for what was offered, but standard for hotel fare. The fresh fruit bar was extensive and there were tons of toppings for your yogurt/granola/cereal. The hot food included all of your standards and nothing was very amazing. Apparently you can also order a la carte egg items, though we were not informed of that until after. Service was very prompt and polite and overall we had a nice meal.
This is now our go-to hotel for Victoria and would definitely recommend it! It's super close to everything downtown, while still being far enough away to be nice and quiet. -

Nice Hotel.
I spent one night here last week and it was okay. Room was clean and spacious, but no fireplace or separate tub/shower setup or free breakfast.
Nice view of the Harbour for sure. -

Woo hoo! Great hotel! Entire hotel very inviting and classy. Room was spacious and decorated nicely and had a SUPER COMFY BED. Hotel has a lovely pool & spa tub I took advantage of. Staff was helpful and check in/out was a breeze.

My mother and I stayed here for two nights before we moved over to The Fairmont Empress (I liked staying here *much* better, I didn't feel like I was staying at the chateau from The Shining).
The room was beautifully appointed (recently remodeled) and we had a fantastic view of the harbor.
It was wonderful sitting on our patio and watching the seaplanes float back into harbor at sunset.
Their restaurant was good, as were the lemon drops! -

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently on a weekend trip to Victoria and we loved this hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and there were bathrobes! I love bathrobes! We had a patio with a great view of the harbor and tons of pillows to hit each other with.
We got a great room rate through a Clipper package. In the past when I've gotten deals on rooms at swank hotels, staff has been less than pleasant to me so I braced myself for more of the same snotty treatment at the Grand Pacific but the staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful.
We didn't eat at the restaurant but we enjoyed the close proximity to downtown restaurants/bars/activities. We also enjoyed how close it was to the Clipper terminal when we were arriving exhausted (and a little seasick on my part.) I would definitely stay here again on another trip. -

We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas and were very happy with our choice. The room was spacious and clean. the bed was very comfortable and our room had a decent view. The water was very hot, there were plentiful towels and of course the robes.
The room walls were sort of a salmon/beige which I hated but that is not a big deal for me in the big picture.
However the concierge was a more than bit snooty after two simple questions (this was on the Boxing day, in the evening for any management that may happen to be reading this). I think he was doing something on the internet because he sure didn't appreciate being bothered by my questions.
The restaurant was fabulous. We ate breakfast there twice and they have the best coffee I have ever tasted. We had the same, very attentive waitress both times (Julie C) who kept my cup full. She remembered us from 2 days earlier so it was great to not have to describe all my food allergies over again.
We had a very good deal with the Clipper, I imagine at other times of the year or w/o the package it could get very pricey. -

Stayed here for a couple of nights for a meeting - great choice! It has a gorgeous location right on Victoria's inner harbour near the Parliament buildings and the Empress.
Self parking is $15 a day. Rooms are on the smaller size and traditional in decor but quite comfortable. Basic TV with a small balcony. Toiletries are nice in the bathroom.
Check-in and out are smooth and customer service is above average. Several dining options on site including dim sum and west coast cuisine. Our meeting used their catering services which were pretty good! Great mix of sandwiches, salads, bison burgers and soups over the couple of days I was there.
Would definitely stay here again! -

Based on our two stays during the last three years, it's no mystery to us that this hotel was named "Best Hotel in Canada" by Conde Nast Traveller in 2008!

Loved the hotel! Staff was great close to everything. Great pool and workout room. Just wish the customers didn't have to pay $15 a day to park

Hotel was close to downtown Victoria. We had a good deal from a vacation package, so i cant tell much about the price. But the service is good and the most important thing, CLEAN!

love love love the hotel grand pacific. stayed there as part of a vacation package from seattle on the victoria clipper. we received a complimentary upgrade to a suite (so much easier for my daughter who goes to bed earlier than us) when we checked in! thank you!!! and it's about a 1/2 block walk from the clipper and is central and close to everything. but the best part is the amazing pool and gym. love it. so much fun for kids. this is where we'll always stay when we visit victoria. i think it can be pricey but we must have gone at the right time of year or something because it's a 5 star hotel and we stayed for 2 nights at a mid-level hotel price.
