If there's one thing I look forward to doing when I travel to Ontario, it's diving into some good Indian food - and more specifically, Butter Chicken. As a Butter Chicken aficionado (yea, I just dropped that), I have to say this place does a pretty bang up job. In 15 minutes from my call, the food was ready for pick-up, which in my experience is a quick turn around time for Butter Chicken.
While I didn't stay in to eat, I was impressed by the atmosphere inside. The cook is behind a window so you can see him prepare just about everything that is going to find its way to your plate. I thought it was a cool touch on a place that screams authenticity.. or at least based on many of the indian restaurants I've been in.
The only thing I didn't like was that the restaurant is located about 15 minutes outside of the downtown, so if you're ordering out, I would suggest you think twice and take the time to eat in. The food will get cold, and if you're in a hotel without microwaves, you won't be able to enjoy this food for what it really is. -

I don't understand the 2 star review this place got! Host India is UNBELIEVABLE. By far the BEST Indian food I've had in Ottawa. I got the madras chicken and an order of samosas and my friend got a ground eggplant dish and butter chicken. The samosas were really spicy, made my nose run, awesome. The chicken was all tender white pieces of meat, with a spicy, tangy sauce that had a hint of coconut, it was absolutely perfect. The butter chicken my friend ordered was very tangy and not sweet like other places I've tried, the eggplant dish was tomatoey and flavorful. I'm going back again soon, and I'm ordering the butter chicken. Only complaint is that the server was less than friendly, the friend I went with asked about the spices they use in their meals and he seemed kind of annoyed she was asking. The food made up for the unfriendly service.

The buffet is really decent, with a good selection of food and a pretty good tandoori chicken.
Pass on a la carte or dinner though, food is pretty bland and there's a lot better downtown or even just down the street (@ Passage to India also on Montreal Rd) -

This is by far the nicest Indian place I have ever been to on my recent trip to Ottawa. I love Indian food and this place definitely earns its 5 stars.
We just stumbled upon the restaurant and decided to try it. From the outside it looks like a minature version of disneyland castle, but once your step your foot in, your carried away with the aromas of the food and wonderfull atmosphere.
The servers are great, they are quick, great at answering questions and offer fabulous recommendations. It was delish. We then got samosas which were a bit small but amongst the best I have tried.
We ordered the Butter Chicken which was so good that we ended up getting a second order. We also ordered Saag panner and Lamb madras. F### im still drooling from the thought of it as i write this review.
For desert we had that delicious rice pudding thing mmm with chai tea WOW. The ambiance, food, and presentation where fab. I think I am about to become a regular everytime I fly in town -

I went here for lunch on a Friday. This family owned restaurant was packed with officegoers. You might want to time your lunch as you may have to wait. The decor and ambiance is welcoming and pretty traditional. You have the option of buffet or ordering from a fixed menu. The buffet has a variety of options including vegetarian as well as meat dishes along with 2-3 deserts. The menu is comprehensive and try the butter chicken...So Good! The food is very good and the service is prompt. I would definately go here again.
