I was so glad when I discovered Hoshi Sushi. Never been disappointed with the food or the service. They also deliver which is great! The fish always tastes fresh and the restaurant is always clean too.

Why do Japanese restaurants close for two hours in the middle of the day?
It's 3 pm and Brown Rice is closing for that awkward two hours where it's not technically lunch or dinner. When hunger and sushi cravings within those hours exist, what is one to do?
Just down the street from Brown Rice on Broadway is another quaint, sushi spot that serves decent sushi for competitively low prices: Hoshi Sushi. The three-item dinner menu goes for a reasonably cheap price, and is even cheaper during lunch, which is defined as any time before 3 pm. Create a specialized menu that caters to individual taste buds and choose from appetizers (edamame, gyoza, gomaae, etc.), a variety of rolls (yam rolls, dynamite rolls, Alaska rolls, etc.), and portions of meals (chicken karaage, chicken/beef/tofu teriyaki, etc.). This deal also includes a miso soup.
"Large and special rolls" (such as the Hawaii Roll - salmon, cream cheese, papaya on the inside, topped with avocado and tobiko) are included on its menu, along with vegetarian options, and donburis (the Katsu Don is a classic - pork cutlet with egg, on top of steamy rice).
A pocket-sized place with conventional sushi that is fresh and fast. Reasonably priced and most importantly... open all day (well, 11:00 am - 9:00 pm) with no closing breaks. -

Brown rice sushi with golden flax seed caught my eye.
On my day of Yasuyochan day I had walked past this restaurant and noticed this in the window. Yes! Another place that is looking towards the health of middle aged, healthier conscious consumers! I was happy.
As you can read the reviews of others, this place is well liked and for me, even better with the discovery of good brownrice sushi.
Not bad truthfully.
Unfortunately on a day like this as it was, it was a binge eat binge day for moi. Eat a bit of this and that and off to the next place towards our unkown journey of shopping bliss. -

Hoshi is clean, the service is decent and they are consistent in delivering fresh, well-made tasty sushi.
Our standard order is Negitoro Maki, Spicy Tuna Roll, Unagi Roll, Inari and Miso Soup and we have never been disappointed after many visits and take out orders. They offer free delivery within 3km and a $20 order and offer brown rice and golden flax seeds for those inclined to partake. -

Long thing place with really good sushi. Service is good and they do some nice, original rolls. Love the deep fried Phoenix roll and they do an excellent Rainbow roll. They also deliver, but we often pick up from here when we are going to have sushi on the beach.

A sushi-eating Vancouverite is frequently faced with the problem of whether to go with the old standby for sushi or to try something new. A difficult problem, indeed! Hoshi Sushi is one sushi spot that I recommend. It's fresh, it's tasty and pretty fast. The menu consists of all the usual choices, nothing cutting edge here, but it's reasonably priced and they deliver, hurray!
