I came here for a private work function, and while it's far and near impossible to get to without a car, the views and food are spectacular! We had taken up the entire restaurant, so it was a set menu lunch with your choice for beverages - not sure what the bill came out to.
Service was good, drinks arrived on time and were always refilled quickly. Our server was very friendly despite looked very stressed out. Food arrived by table, in a random fashion, so it was quite slow for the unlucky people at the end of the imaginary line. The lunch lasted two hours for a 3 course meal, so we were pretty hungry by the end of it.
The food was great - the seafood chowder was thick, but only had fish in it. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the cheesecake was very good (sad I couldn't finish it all, it was so much food!)
Definitely a good place for a date night. I suspect the service is better when orders don't come in all at once, but I'll have to come back another time to be sure! -

I worked for one of their sister companies for a few years but every time I come to Horizons, I'm disappointed.
I've been to Horizons for brunch and two dinners. All three visits were mediocre. All three visits were for a special occasion and clearly noted in the reservation. When I worked with the company, I made sure I passed this along to the server. The occasions were never acknowledged in all three of my visits. For my dad's birthday, we were stuck at the worst table at the restaurant. At the other restaurant we did comp desserts and a sparkler for the birthday person.
Food is ok. The portions are small. The $12 spring rolls were 2 standard spring rolls. You can get the same quality at a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant but for 1/4 of the price. The duck and pork tenderloin entrees were decent.
Service was fine. The server's assistant was always filling up our waters. I have no complaints here.
There are much better places to dine that are a much better value. -

Very classy!
I had the three course deal: :Mussels appetizer (which had a very nice smooth broth I dipped my bread in), steak platter (comes with vegetables, mashed potatoes and a small skewer or prawns) and a banana walnut spring roll served with caramel ice cream for dessert.
The steak in the platter was HUGE and..man...it took all I had to finish. The dessert was beautifully presented and nicely capped off the meal.
The service from the waitstaff is impeccable. Waitstaff checked up on us every few minutes to top our wine, water or to make sure all was good (and it was). Very elegant place to go and impress someone you are treating for dinner. The interior is very spacious and uncluttered. AMAZING! -

We went in here on a fireworks night to kill some time. Keep in mind we are in a band so we look kinda alternative, but not scary. The bartender glared at us as soon as we walked in and said they were closed. Then a family of three came in right behind us and he proceeded to seat them. My band left except me and one other guy, and then the bartender went and locked them out.
A waitress was kind enough to seat us for dessert, which was incredible. I had the chocolate pate, which was great. Everyone loved their desserts. The bartender glared at us the whole time. Lame! -

Breathtaking view on the peak of Burnaby Mountain. Starry nights, a rose garden and romantic seclusion from the city. What else could you ask for? That wasn't a rhetorical question - the answer? Better food.
Food: Brunch here is awesome just because of the view but dinner service is mlech. I wish the dishes matched the scenery. For the prices they charge, I didn't find that it was worth it - even for the view.
Ambiance: Intimate and Burnaby-fancy (is there such thing?). I am trying to recall specifics but all I remember is seeing brown, everywhere, a lot and too much of it.
Service: Nice-for-tips wait staff. -

Just like the last person said, its all about the view... You get a nice view from the top of Burnaby Mountain and can see all the way to the ocean- with views of North Vancouver and the Lions Gate Bridge...
Buuuut, it IS a restaurant and I guess I should rate the food... it is a little pricey for the standard American fare, although I can't say any of it tasted bad... Nothing on my plate or anyone else's plate at our table really WOWed us.... -

i come here with my husband a few times a year. its our romantic dinner. but i do come fully prepared with a 2 for 1 coupon. it is pricey. the food has always been good when we have been there. go during dine out and you get a 3 course meal for like $30 its a good deal. Ive had crab cakes: which were really good. chowder: smooth and seafood full. steak is always a good choice. salmon was fresh and seasoned well! cioppino bowl was very flavorful. duck was very well done with this apple yum! but i seem to always have the chicken with seasonal veggies cuz im boring like that, but the jus is awesome and mushrooms yum! dessert is always something chocolaty cant go wrong!! gorgeous view and the staff are always over the top amazing! def will go back :)

Recently renovated, understated and fairly attractive decor. Spectacular view. Good service. But the food was quite expensive and not very special. I ordered salmon and shrimp (there were 2 small shrimp)... a few veggies were barely visible beneath a mound of rice. It was okay but nothing I couldn't have produced easily at home. My 2 guests said their food was fine, but again - much too over-priced for what it was. We all had to order dessert because we were still hungry. With 2 drinks and including tip, bill came to $183.00. Overall, a disappointment and I won't be going there again.

there's a reason why these guys are located up there..its so that no one goes to eat there..they do have a great view but besides that, crappy food and service! yeah u heard me, i was there this week for a birthday dinner with some friends, poor service, ridiculously lousy food for that price..shrimps, scallops, steaks were all over-done..i say do not go to this place to eat. a desert and coffee on a sunday, sure but not for real food.

Avoid like the plague! Horizons have a view so don't really have to care about consistent customer service or 'wowing' anybody. There are so many other wonderful fine dining restaurants in Vancouver & Burnaby! Their recent reno is unimaginitave and primarily designed to squeeze in more seats. The forever stern gestapo like bartender mentioned in another report is still 'sternly' doing his job - the menu is ho-hum and the food is overpriced and not so special - 2 shrimps on a salmon don't make it a special. The service was loud, chirpy, rushed and thankfully brief. We endured a needless 31 minute wait for entree delivery when they were only half full - then a 22 minute wait for someone else to clear the entres. Service was haphazard at best being actioned by different people. At Horizons be prepared for a romantic evening end up more like an IHOP MACDONALDS experience as like us you might be interupted by a table of 2 parents and their 2 children between the ages of 5 and 7.
