First Non-Food Yelp Review! Woot. 30 Day challenge. BRING IT!
I'm biased. I've been going to this church since I was born. Give it up for baptism!
Lately, I haven't been going as much. This is mainly due to the non-traditional formats the masses have taken with the African masses. The other aspect is my laziness but I digress.
The African masses are a wonderful take on the Catholic mass but it's not the same. Especially at Christmas time. Though the one Christmas we went and heard the Afrikaans it was quite the hoot.
There used to be masses for the deaf as well but I think they moved. That's when the Africans came in.
VIBE
Catholic mass can get pretty serious. Holy Name is a very old church. I think it's over 100 years old and a mainstay of the Danforth.
The crowd is lovely. Many newcomers but also the mainstays (like my parents).
Great little community here and sometimes you get a really good homily.
Plus, bread and wine. Hello!
There is a choir as well and they have good acoustics here.
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
It's not a name unless it's holy. BOOM!Listed in: Danforth/Riverdale, Non-Food 30 Day Challenge
