I feel compelled to write this review after recently being forced to rent from Blockbuster, because Hollywood didn't have Transformers 2 in stock on Blue Ray and the boy HAD to have it. What a formidable experience. But it did make me appreciate my neighbourhood movie store that much more.
The prices are great when you buy their punch card. I pay less than $3 for new releases and that includes Blue Rays! Not only that, but the staff are great and definitely add to the character of the place. There have been just a few occasions when they haven't had the movie I wanted, but for the most part they have a pretty decent selection of obscure movies. -

So after being plauged by friends about how this video store is great, better than Blockbuster yadda yadda yadda SO - I drive out of my way, go there to apply for a membership and rent a video. Some jackass there - in a brown frigging smoking jacket no less - tells me that my Canadian Residency Status card is not suitable ID, he needs my care card or SIN card. Well, are we renting movies or applying for mortgages here? Sorry - your smelly little "niche" shop is too cool for me. I will stick with BB and have no complaints. Attitude, dumb requirements and a smelly sort of Victoria thing going on in there. TOP this with the fact that Blockbuster is CHEAPER and has more copies of everything. Yea.
