Beautiful 60-foot waterfall where the Rideau River and Rideau Canal part. My boyfriend and I brought our shawarma's here and enjoyed them by the lovely waterside

Hog's Back is a very picturesque park located fairly central to most things in Ottawa.
The waterfall at the south end of the park is certainly the highlight of a visit to this green space and can be enjoyed all year long. The winter ice creates some really amazing formations and even on the coldest of days you'll probably still hear the rumble of the fast flowing water underneath.
The early part of the summer or spring is one of the most impressive times to see the falls and visit the park as the runoff makes for a thundering experience. Do not venture too close to the falls even in the summer because the current here is wild and you'll find plenty of signs and gates to warn you to stay back.
If you visit in the summer or late spring you can also bring a lunch and lay out on the grass in the park area. This spot has lots of shade too but has open space large enough to throw around a ball or disc.
Avoid this place around rush hour because Hogs Park (the bridge/road) can be bumper to bumper and quite a pain to get in and out of especially if the bridge for the canal is opening up to allow boats under it.Listed in: Ottawa Date Ideas

Hog's Back is really quite pretty. There are many trees and pathways, and, of course, the waterfall. It's all very scenic, no matter what time of year it is. This makes it really popular as kind of like a little gem in the city.
I often see families with small children taking walks and picnics around the park, but I must say that I think it's the best for couples looking to take a romantic stroll. Whether it be early morning, sunset, or night, or spring, summer, or fall, it's very beautiful and calming. Personally, autumn is my favorite because of all the red, orange, and yellow leaves.Listed in: The Nation's Capital
