Okay, wow! I finally found a great Chinese food place in HRM! Okay, well it is mainly "Canadian Chinese" cuisine but what the heck, its so darn good! I am a huge Indian and Thai food lover, so I always want my foods extra spicy. I had the Hunan Chicken combination plate and asked the server for the kitchen to make it "extra, extra, extra spicy" - and well, they did - and it was simply delicious! Very fresh and enjoyable. The combo plate was so huge it had me eating for 2 days...Note: when I recieved my bill, the caption under my combo read: "extra, extra, extra spicy", which I found to be a nice touch.
My husband had the Mongolian Beef combo plate, which was medium spicy - but he thoroughly enjoyed it at that heat level. He, too, found it to be very fresh and delicious. The dining room is nice, not your stereotypical place with lanterns, etc. Very classy touch with murals and all. Needless to say, I will DEFINATELY BE BACK! Highly recommended if you enjoy hot and fresh Chinese dishes!
PS: I did not try anything else other than the combo, so the 5 star is based on my current experience (I will do a follow up sooner or later...) -

Ordered take out from here for the first time last night. It was just for the boyfriend and myself, but we had enought food to feed about eight more people! It was a big order and the restaurant was busy when we went in, but everything was ready to go in 15 minutes! And it was still piping hot when we got it home!
The service was incredible and there was a great seating area out of the way for people getting take out or picking up orders.
The food was delicious. Typical Chinese canadian fare, but it wasn't heavy. Not too breaded not too greasy. It didn't sit heavy and hard in my belly once we were done.
We will definitely be returning! And the prices were decent for the amount of food we got!Listed in: I just keep going back...

It took awhile and trying a few other local popular spots before we stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance and have found our new favourite Chinese food restaurant.
When we first discovered Wong's they were in the middle of a makeover. I love their décor, with rich purple and terra cotta on the walls. There are hand painted bamboo shoots and a large coy pond mural decorating the walls as well. The aquarium is a nice amusement while waiting to pay your bill. It's a relatively small dining area and usually fairly busy.
The service is great and the staff very friendly, making you feel like a regular on your first visit. We've done both eat in and take out and both are very quick.
While they may not make their own plum sauce or egg rolls, we find their menu to be extensive and everything we've tried so far arrives at the table hot, fresh and tasty. My husband likes their egg rolls and would make a meal of them, I prefer the spring rolls. There's quite a large menu so take your time going through it. My husband isn't too adventurous so we tend to stick to the more traditional Canadian/Chinese dishes. We really like the beef and green peppers, pork lo mein and ginger beef but I think you're pretty safe in having a good meal with whatever you order. I like to order a few different dishes and with just the two of us there is usually enough to take home for lunches for a couple days.
We'll continue to dine at Wongs to satisfy my frequent Chinese food cravings and would recommend it to others looking for well priced, served hot, tasty food. -

Also on the quest for Chinese food in Nova Scotia. This place is tucked into a strip mall, and it was quiet on Good Friday, but the staff are lovely, we noticed some nice creative murals on the walls, and a very clean fish tank.
The food was great! I am a connoisseur of wonton soup, and theirs had a delicious broth, with lots of greens, flavourful wontons and pork. At some places you order a bunch of dishes and then have trouble distinguishing the plates because it all looks and tastes the same. Not here; our Garlic Shrimp had a very generous number of shrimp, and tasted of fresh garlic, and the Almond Guy Ding was also chicken-first. My main compliment was on the freshness, crispness and selection of vegetables in each dish. Nothing was overcooked, it was not overpriced and we will return! -

5 stars for delivery!!! The egg rolls are worthy of 8 stars. The sweet and sour chicken cantonese style is delicious. We always ordered off the regular menu but have recently ventured into the depths of the menu to order different dishes...it is close, convenient and the people there are wonderful!'

I'm so picky with Chinese (canadian chinese I should say) food - so much makes me sick, so much is dry, or msg laden or tasteless.. Wong's however, is delish!
Over the last four years Wongs took care of my cravings for ginger beef and delicious, sauce smeared chicken balls. I ordered from here many a new years eve and they were always honest about the wait and bang on with the time as well - food was always hot and ready to go right when they said it would be. They even will CALL you when its almost finished so you can head out to pick it up. Love.
I no longer have a reason to jaunt over to dartmouth often, but I will have to make an exception someday soon and go back for some yummy eats. -

Once again, my inability to appreciate the Chinese food selection in this city led me to Yelp reviews in hopes of finding a favourite in time for the Year of the Dragon in a few weeks. With this joint tucked away by my neighbourhood Hamachi, it scored immediate points for proximity and the huge menu for our take-out pleasure.
I arrived to place an order around 9:30pm and the place was dead. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as I bastardized their combo section with substitutions and special requests (also, if you're not the one going to pick it up, cool it with your finicky order, okay?). All in all, I think I paid $1.35 to change an entire combo deal to suit our specifications which is pretty darn good!
There's a wee waiting section for take-out orders which was a nice touch but I barely needed it as the grub was ready to go in about ten minutes.
The Almond Chicken Soo Guy (without the gravy or almond powder) drew rave reviews in its custom combo with beef fried rice and a spring roll. I didn't have any but was assured it was far beyond our usual go-to for Chinese take-out.
My order of the Cantonese deep-fried bean curd was decent but a little disappointing after being a last resort when all my first choices had random meat ingredients included. Minced pork in the Ma Po Bean Curd, minced shrimp and pork in the Stuffed Bean Curd in Spicy Sauce...it was tough to order anything vegetarian more exciting that stir-fried vegetables without getting meat tossed in.
Next time I'll ask some questions to see what they can do or if some meat can be axed - I think I might be able to find a dish worth getting excited about next time. -

I've been going to Wong's since it first opened.
The egg rolls, fried rice, and chicken ball affair is pretty much the same as every other Chinese place. Wong's excels at other dishes. Hot and sour soup, wonton soup, ginger beef, Szechuan Beef are all delicious options. Try ordering outside of the combo plates, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The ginger beef is my absolute favorite. Crispy, yet saucy at the same time, with an incredible ginger flavor. Although probably not healthy the deep fried wontons are a nice teat. If you venture into unknown dish territory they come closer to being "real" Chinese food. The Ma Po Tofu is a delicious traditional dish that all too often gets passed over.
Although the decor is a little lacking, they have a fantastic fish tank and the dining room is exceptionally clean. Most times I've eaten there, the owner and their family were eating their dinner. You know the food is good when the owner feeds it to his own family almost daily. -

Another staple for take out/delivery options in Dartmouth, I will qualify this review by saying I have never actually eaten in. Wong's offers good Chinese food with decent portions at reasonable prices. The menu has a fairly broad selection to suit various tastes, although the focus is definitely on Canadian-style Chinese food and not the authentic stuff. Beairng that in mind, the General Tso's chicken is delicious. Delivery is failry prompt and we have always found the food to be hot and tasty. As an added bonus, their take out containers are the re-usable kind and make a great substitute for gladrware!

The only critique is the outdated decor, but the food is well priced and delicious. Staff are attentive, but not annoying. Great fried won tons!

Wong's is a large Chinese Restaurant located in Dartmouth. With my BF being from Dartmouth and swearing that Wong's is the best Chinese Restaurant he decided to get our supper from there one night.
So I thought that I would get the basic fried rice, chicken balls and eggrolls. By the time we got home which is about 5-7 mins if that from home the food was cold. Maybe we drove to slow who knows.
Overall I found the food really did not have any taste to it and I did not enjoy the eggrolls. I was told that it is a different experience when you eat in so maybe before I say I am not going back I will do just that and give it a second chance. It is funny when you talk Chinese everyone has there favourite and normally stay with that location. -
