I have been seeing Kim at Hive Hair for over 5 years now. I love the place, the atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly. A standard cut will run you $60-70 and a color and cut around $200 which is a bit pricey but honestly it is worth the money. I've had $10 and $20 haircuts before and you just need to get your hair cut again in a few weeks. There is also a separate tattoo studio inside http://www.starkraving.... There used to be free parking out front but now it is all pay parking through the city. My only negative comment is their new website. It is flashy and the art is cool but not super useful.

Just an updated review to say that Amanda is no longer at Hive. She has opened up her own hair salon on Pandora Avenue.

As a whole, I'm not entirely sure if I like this place. I can honestly say that I have never left with a bad cut or colour, but I never leave feeling like I got what I asked for.
I'm very picky with my hair colour. I like to keep it bright red, and I always somehow end up with it being a couple shades darker than what I had asked for because the hairstylist thinks it would be better. Granted I could probably be more assertive.
The last time I dropped into Hive to get my bangs trimmed, she did a half-assed job and said she would fix them up better the next time I made a hair appointment. That is basically the last time I will go in there. I don't drop $200+ to be ripped off of a complimentary bang trim. Sorry guys.
The best hairdresser I ever had there was Kat. She's unfortunately moved somewhere else. But she is the first hairdresser who has ever done exactly what I wanted, and was able to show she understood what I was going for before starting my hair.
All that said, I have tons of friends who LOVE Hive, and get great haircuts from there. It's just doesn't work for me.
