The Historic Properties are the hotspot for tourists - and for those of us who like to play tourist on a beautiful summer afternoon.

You can wander through the various shops here - some under the roof of the properties itself, and others (like Nova Scotia Crystal and Cows Ice Cream) located adjacent.  There are also a handful of food vendors towards the rear of the Properties building - check out the haddock tips and fries!  Ample seating is available both inside and out, making it a perfect spot to rest your feet in the midst of sightseeing.

Many of the shops are on the spendy side, but don't worry - there's an ATM handy next to the Perks just a few steps away.

Geared towards the folks from away, Historic Properties will leave visitors with lovely impressions and a taste of Nova Scotian Heritage. While mostly all of these shops are tourist centred, there is a genuine flavour to each and everyone!

Take a walk under its strong stoney structures and explore its many outlets. Treats, souvenirs, art and apparel all provide an experience, and its the time to have if you're briefly visiting and looking for a general feel.

I will concur with other several reviews on visiting Argyle Fine Art. Its a great run-through of inspired works, and a visual timeline of our city's happenings.

Although I rarely tread these grounds, this is a place I will always think fondly of. The waterfront location and complimentary historical properties provide a good, wholesome vibe, and I think visitors would agree.

Historic Properties is located on the beautiful Halifax Waterfront. The properties are home to a number of specialty shops and cafes, and complete the high-end Halifax shopping experience.

I frequent this part of town exclusively around my mother's birthday or anniversary. The little shops are a hot bed for gifts for the homeowner or established couple. You can expect high quality and unique gifts in this part of town, but be prepared to pay through your nose.

There is historical significance to all the buildings in this part of the city, so take the opportunity to become more knowledgeable in your Halifax history! Check out the website for more information.

Hot Hint: There is a lot of local work featured at the Argyle Fine Art gallery, I ended up getting a print of the Harbour walk for my mom for Christmas.

Historic Properties isn't a shopping centre, it's a group of historically-significant buildings downtown which house various shops and restaurants.

It's a total tourist draw, and one of the places that is absolutely required visiting by anyone new to the city, but it's also a sort of comfortingly-familiar spot for a local like me.  There are some interesting and unique shops if you're looking for gifts, shoes, jewellery, or art.  And there are all sorts of places to just sit and enjoy the scenery - whether "scenery" implies people-watching, or taking in the view of the harbour.

Connected by boardwark to other downtown spots in both directions, Historic Properties is just a nice place for a Sunday stroll, whether you're "from here" or "from away."

Hot spot tourist alert: If you've come to the city to take it all in, you mustn't forget this waterfront cluster of historical buildings and lovely walkways.

Not only can you find shops boasting quintessentially Maritime themed garb, you'll be able to indulge in the old timey vibe of this thriving city by admiring the gorgeous stone buildings and the cobble stone alleys. The shops can be a little pricey (it is a tourist haven after all); nonethless, they're fun to peruse as you dally around the area.

I highly recommenced a visit to Argyle Fine Art. It's a neat juxtaposition with it's modern and sometimes edgy offering, paired with some Atlantic inspired folk art.

During the summer, check out street performers providing curbside entertainment to the outdoor masses. This area of town is a must, especially under the summer sun and on a crisp winter's day. See Halifax as it once was, and as it is today.

Lots of neat little shops and restaurants to explore. I liked that there were places to get non-kitchy, quality souvenirs/art/crafts etc. and the historic setting makes for nice surroundings.
