Lunch buffet was delicious.  I especially loved the fact that dessert was included as a buffet option something I hadn't seen befoe.  Lots of curries to select from and Fresh naan bread.  Overall food quality is good and staff are friendly. Downside the naan in the buffet kept running out and I had to wait for staff to refill.

Warning, easy to overeat at the buffet.

Absolutely the worst Indian food I have paid for. We thought that the first time we went there may have been a new cook or something ( it was that bad) so we went back when my wife's mom was in town. What a bad move, even the basics (like plates without old food stuck to them) aren't being taken care of.

It's a shame, I really want to support business up here in the neighborhood, but this place is truly horrendous.

We ordered an assortment of dishes and by the time the last one arrived we were actually all laughing at how bad it was. Avoid this establishment , or order an appetizer first and see for yourself how awful it is before committing to a full order.

I would recommend this place to anyone!!

The staff are wonderful, the food is unreal and the prices are great too.

Try the butter chicken and the cocktails are all really good, but try an "Arranged Marriage" this one is my fav. They also offer some fusion foods like the naan pizza.

My parents live near by so we come here for dinner quite a bit. We have been eating here for the past 4 years and it just keeps getting better. This is more than just a lunch buffet restaurant.

Freshly prepared Indian buffet on campus! Came here a few times for lunch and was always happy with their buffet bar although I can't seem to eat more than a plate everytime.. But the different varieties are what I ask for! Can't remember the name of each dish but the one with little cheese cubes was very tasty, not too cheesy at all! Aside from all hot varieties that were great, I was particularly intrigued by the rice pudding. It is like a yogurt texture, but it's sweet and has rice in it hence the name. Before  I could finalize my decision on whether I liked it or not, I finished it. This probably meant I liked the rice pudding!

To say this is the worst food around would be a lie.  To say this is the best food around would be a lie.  Its definitely somewhere in the middle!  The food is fresh, and the curries are OK.  I went for a lunch time buffet so it was good.  I'm not going to go out  on a limb here and say that this place was the end all of Indian foods, but for a place at a university its ok.

Himalayan Peak outside the context of SFU might be a middle of the road restaurant but, when it comes to food on the hill, it's close to as good as you get. Offering Indian and a little fusion in one of the only non-Pub dining-rooms on the hill, its one of like two places you can have an actual classy sit-down dinner without feeling like you're at a University.

Food-wise it's actually pretty good. I've only sampeled a few of their curries and one of their fusion curry pizzas but I was impressed both times. I admittedly don't have much of a palate when it comes to Indian but it all seemed pretty good to me. At least as good as I'd get at any other restaurant in the same, relatively cheap, price range. Actually, probably a little shockingly good considering it comes out to a little over $10 a person.

One thing though I'd offer as a reason for outsiders to head here is, simply put, the atmosphere. Most places at SFU are cafes or fast food with only really the pub ever offering a place to sit down and grab a bite. As the pubs drink and food prices skyrocket and the quality lingers, as well as the music continues to suck, I'd suggest heading here. It's almost good enough for a quiet date but definitely could handle a nice dinner with friends. The drinks are about 1/4 the price of the pub as well so...enjoy that.

I work near SFU and it's always a treat for my co-workers and I to go have some Indian buffet for lunch. The buffet offers a couple options but it's quite small and you'll be disappointed if you think you're getting a full spread. I would think of it more like a self-serve all you can eat counter of a couple entrees.

For $12 and refillable pop ($2 approx) you can definitely get your money's worth and I have yet to have a bad dish! I've even had the fish curry! I think this place is all about expectations and for what you're paying and where it is you can't really go wrong if you're craving something other than a burger.

Probably some of the best food on Burnaby Mountain. I say this mostly based on hearsay. I haven't eaten everywhere, because I'm vegan and I just can't, but Himalayan Peak serves delicious Indian food. The menu is kind of cheesy - the descriptions of the food are silly - but the food is delicious. Prices are okay, especially considering the premium that many businesses add to their prices as soon as you get up the mountain and can't escape.

For an indian food place up at SFU, this place is pretty damn good. They have daily buffets which are a great value ($10 for all you can eat!!!). The food tastes authentic with lots of flavor and spice - truly indian.

The service is pretty good too, with most servers being university students trying to earn some money whilst attending SFU. It's great for groups as well, because its quite large with a good number of tables. Or if you're by yourself on a lunch break, they have bar stools lining the windows where you can sit, eat, and study.
