Review from Bas A.
Nice hotel in a good area of Toronto. Facilities are comparable to any other Hilton around the globe. The cool thing is that from this hotel you can walk to the underground shopping center and metro without getting 'outside'. This is excellent when the real Canadian winter is kicking in.
The hotel has complementary wifi and the steak house in the basement is excellent! -
Review from Alex R.
I think the hotel has been updated recently....there is now wi-fi throughout the hotel! So disregard all of the reviews saying that wifi isn't available in the rooms-- it is! And it's decently fast, too!
So this hotel is probably classified as 4-star hotel, but I had a 5-star experience. This is now one of my absolute favorite Hiltons, and the staff and GM should be proud. Disclaimer- I'm a Hilton Diamond VIP, so I got the hook up during this stay, which influences my review. However, I would imagine that you would have a nice experience at this hotel even without status. First, everyone was very friendly and helpful, the lobby was great, and the proximity to restaurants was fantastic. Want a burger or a burrito? One block away. How about 5 star sushi or steak? Yup, one block away. Great location. Very clean and modern, and recently renovated.
If you have status, the executive lounge in this particular Hilton is one of the very best I've seen. It rivals the Hilton in Paris...which was impressive. Excellent variety at dinner and breakfast, fancy cappuccino maker, and super friendly exec lounge concierge who remembers your name and room # after just one visit! The lounge had lots of healthy options (fresh fruits and veggies), sparkling water and wine and beer. There's also an honor bar. I didn't have to go out for dinner or breakfast the next morning, and I loved that I didn't have to sacrifice my diet-- there were great options for me. The layout is really nice too. Very spacious while allowing some privacy. And the view is to die for!
This is definitely my go-to Toronto hotel from now on. Highly, highly recommended. -
Review from Faezah W.
I love this hotel, great location, large sized rooms if you get the end/corner suites, gorgeous view if you face the right side on a higher floor.
My go to hotel, I love how it's located at Osgoode Subway station(my most used station after Yonge) Easy to get too, walking distance to Eaton Centre. Queen St. West, Entertainment District and Union If you enjoy walking :)
Theres a good 30+ levels at this hotel. The king beds spacious, high off the floor, you get multiple pillows and extra blankets in the closet. It has a modern but homey feel to it, it's not toooo chic or super stylish. You feel comfortable in the setting. Bathroom was large enough for 2 ladies to get ready whilst one took a shower. Accurate mirror with good lighting, fan inside too(which I've noticed not many hotels do anymore?)
Hotel front desk, they're quick and pick up the phone, you don't feel like a bother when calling which is good customer service.
Hotel has basic amenities, there's a pool, party room, few restaurants downstairs, bars, laundry, etc)
Good hotel :) one of my fave dt ones. -
Review from Jeff P.
3 1/2 stars. This was your typical downtown/big city Hilton... a once-classy, old-school hotel, perhaps in need of renovation and tlc, but still a nice hotel in the heart-of-it-all. This is no Four Season, but it gets the job done. They have valet, a concierge, a Ruth's Chris on-site as well as another restaurant, great customer service, nice rooms.... everything you need....just not outstanding. I would recommend getting a room away from the elevators, or it will keep you up all night.

This is a very nice hotel. They have comfortable rooms and nice views of the city. I appreciated the desk to work out and the bath products.
The two downsides: the concierge was never there and there were no glasses in our room.
Free wifi in the lobby but you have to pay for it in your room. -
Review from Peace H.
3.5 star -- it's a little dated for a Hilton. Great location!
This is a nice Hilton property, located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The staff is very nice and efficient and the room is large and the bed is super comfortable. I arrived late (2 a.m.) because my flights were delayed and the night staff was very courteous and checked me right in without any problems and gave me a free room upgrade. I slept like a log on the super comfortable bed.
I know my way around downtown since I've been here before.
I walked to Queen Street for an early lunch -- Indian food, great and cheap. Went back to Queens Street for dinner and had good Korean food (it was inexpensive). I love the vibrancy of Queen Street! There's a store that sells only condoms -- it reminds me of a shop in Amsterdam, except way, way, way tamer in TO. (LOL!) The ladies who work in the shop was a riot! (Canadians certainly have a great sense of humour!)
Great place to walk off my jet lag. So, I walked to "Old Town" via University Avenue -- I always love walking through U of TO. Had a nice massage in Old Town and did some window shopping. I love walking through "Old Town."
I've got to hit one of my favorite places in TO before I leave -- the Art Gallery of Ontario; I love it's wooden, circular staircase -- it's like going up the "Stair Way to Haven"! It's great to just stare at it for a long time -- really inspiring and amazingly beautiful! I hope my favorite Pho restaurant in Chinatown is still open.
On this trip, one of my mission is to find a restaurant that serves moose meat. (Every time I come to Canada, I look for it, ask around for it and people look at me strange. It probably taste like chicken :). I may have to go hunt for my own moose meat and BBQ it in the woods. Ahh, I don't know how to shoot a gun and afraid of the forest. Oh well, I may have to settle for Moosehead Beer yet again :). My quest for moose meat in Canada may end in the same quest for Wiener Schnitzel in Berlin, Germany -- total failure. My buddies had fun with me every time we went to a restaurant and bust out laughing when I asked the puzzled waiter for Wiener Schnitzel. (I'm going to Austrian for this delicacy next time.) -
Review from Doug S.
Great location, near shopping, Eaton center mall, restaurants, subway.
Downtown hotel next to city hall, Sheraton Hotel.Next to the Four Seasons center of performing arts.
I had a mini suite with a walk in shower, glass doors with shower head in ceiling. Room had a couch and desk.Room was located on the executive level 24th fl.
With my Hilton gold honors, i had access to free continental breakfast, only hot item was the oatmeal, and free happy hour, beer, wine ,hard liquor, pasta, cheese. in the executive lounge on the top floor.
Hotel seemed dated and worn(common among big city hotels)
Staff was very helpful, and called me by name. Housekeeping kept room spotless.
WI-FI only available in Lobby or executive lounge(seriously)!!!!!! -
Review from Zoe R.
It was o.k.
I live in TO and ended up at the Hilton due to work, for a few days this week.
I've been to other TO hotels, so was comparing Hilton to those ones.
The beds were comfortable enough, but the quality was not as luxurious as the ones at say either the Four Seasons or Fairmont hotels.
At this point, I've become shallow and judge hotels by their pens. Why are their pens so lightweight and plastic? I'm thrilled when I use either my Fairmont or Four Seasons pens - they are supplied to anyone who goes there for a conference.
Overall quality is ok. I hope their prices reflect that they are not in the same grade as either of the two hotels that I've mentioned.
(Conference) Food served there, was okay. Again, not as impressive as Fairmont/Four Seasons. I ate at Mariott Hotel yesterday. Hilton's food was a notch better than at Mariott's.
*The business charges .59/minute or $5.00/hour.
*View was nice. As was service.
*Their gym is on the smaller end. Their pool is both indoors, and extends outdoors.
If you want to save some $, stay here. Location is convenient.
If you're okay with paying a bit extra for "frills", stay at Four Seasons, or Fairmont. -
Review from Jen L.
So, we packed up a few things and drove to Toronto. I packed my own bottle of Veuve b/c while I am sure the Hilton thinks it's okay to charge $150 for a bottle of Veuve, I can totally get one for $38.99 on special at Premier in the Buffy.
I drank a lot more than just that one bottle of Veuve. All I really remember is the crap poutine I had for dinner and the pool.
The pool is super-cool. It was heated. Part of it is inside, and you can swim under a little plastic barrier to go outside. It was late and dark and at times I was alone, swimming outdoors, looking up at the buildings and lights of downtown Toronto. The steam from the heated pool was wafting off the water into the freezing air and I floated and pondered. It was beautiful and sort of romantic. Except, you know, I was there with my husband. And our small boy child.
And then my trance-like buzzed-on-Veuve state was interrupted by MOMMY COME GET ME I WANT TO SWIM WITH YOU. MOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Janna S.
This location is great because it's so central and right on the subway line; all three times I've stayed here that's been a big bonus. Other than that I appreciate the ease of elevator service and the overall condition and cleanliness of this hotel.
That being said, the rates are nothing special and they charge extra if you have additional guest staying in your room. Customer service is good, but in this part of town it needs to be. I agree with the cheap pen comment; I've had nicer ones from hotels with far lower rates. This is hardly a reason to not stay here but it is kind of odd.
The restaurants here are definitely NOT destinations for people who live in Toronto. Menus are pretty safe but pricing is steep for what you get. I'm not a big fan of the Canadian wilderness theme.
Nab a room here if you get a discount! Otherwise, check out Sheraton or others nearby. Parking rates are not bad. -
Review from Jonathan E.
The room was nice as was the staff, but otherwise it was pretty sterile. I was here for a week and didn't want to spend huge amounts on every meal but there was little choice. A basic breakfast or appetizer in the bar starts at $15-20. If you want a value minded meal, you have to venture a few blocks. The place is geared towards the business/conference folks + the theater/opera crowd across the street.
Likewise it's near the financial district so it's a good place to stay for business, but otherwise it's not a top spot for enjoying nightlife, etc.
It works for what it is, but I've stayed in other Toronto properties, larger and smaller, that have more personality and/or nearer to options. -
Review from Julia S.
As a tourist visiting for the weekend, this hotel is very centrally located. It's only one block from Queen St. which has tons of restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. Or, if you're too tired, you can take the either the streetcar or subway.
The hotel itself is nice. Once you check in, try to take one of the scenic elevators to your floor.
Room was spacious for a downtown hotel but the bathroom was rather small. Our room had a wonderful view of the CN Tower. A couple of negatives about the room: (1) I didn't find the bed comfortable, it was very soft for me. (2) No wi-fi in the room, only ethernet connection. There is free wi-fi in the lobby but access code changes daily, you'll have to get a new one at the front desk.
If you're not renting a car, access to this hotel was very easy from the airport. You can either take a taxi or the shuttle has a stop location at the Sheraton, located just a block away.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again if and when we're ever in TO. -
Review from Edward S.
As someone who has travelled a fair amount for pleasure and business, there are a few things I like in a hotel.
I like a modern feel, something that has been updated and retouched instead of just being the same over a five year time span. I like a hotel that has taken the time to upgrade the bed and bathroom areas. I enjoy a hotel that takes the time to put up some interesting pictures and a fresh coat of paint. Is it too much that a hotel should feel like a little slice of home?
Well luckily for me, the Hilton offered all of that on a recent trip to the GTO. The staff was friendly upon arrival and I was lucky enough to take the scenic elevator to my floor, so I was able to enjoy a view of downtown Toronto. Unfortunately, my room's view was facing more uptown, but I can't complain about that.
The Hilton is really in the center of it all, but of course you are going to pay more money for that. It was an enjoyable walk to the downtown amenities and restaurants, but you could still catch a cab or the subway from the Hilton.
I would definitely stay here again, but only if I was able to get a good deal online or use some reward points. Otherwise, as a budget conscious traveler, I would probably look for a more affordable choice a little further away from the main downtown. If you have company money to spend, you really can't go wrong with the hotel, its location, and the quality of the rooms. -
Review from Dominick M.
Being a Hilton you have certain expectations, and they delivered. Very modern but still authentic. Great service, but that area could improve just slightly, in fact that may be the determining factor to get to a 5 star rating.
We dined at the Tundra downstairs and the food was very good, but I must say the menu selection was pretty average for a restaurant like this. The presentation was good but not over the top. Again, this would be another factor in getting from a 4 star to a 5 star, I like to see some over the top when fine dining. -
Review from Carol W.
Not impressed. At all. It is a motel masquerading as a hotel.
I have stayed at a handful of hotels in the downtown area, so I am basing my experience at the Hilton against the Sheraton Centre and the King Edward.
I checked in on a Monday night. I was lugging 2 bags and schlepping a backpack into the lobby and was not offered any assistance with my luggage even though there were multiple staff members in the lobby. I rolled up to the front desk. The woman was polite, but cold. She told me I would be put in one of the "newly rennovated suites".
I got up to my room, again without any offer of assistance, and was mildly disappointed. The room felt cheap, the construction looked shoddy, and almost every wood surface in the room had either a gouge or water damage on it. I had had a long day of work and popped open the cabinet under the glassware and ice bucket only to find no mini-bar. I am paying $400/night and there is no mini-bar? Did I get lost and check into a Best Western?! Is this a Holiday Inn Express? (The carpet selection leads me to believe it was in fact a Holiday Inn)
I walk into the bathroom, which is pretty small, and usually at most nicer hotels there is a standard hair dryer provided in the room. Nope. This has one of those ghetto wall-unit hair dryers that you find in motel bathrooms. The kind that turns on when you pull it out of the unit and won't turn off until you clip it back into place. The dryer is weak on airflow and extremely hot, and there is no way to control the temperature.
My co-worker checked in the following evening and they had overbooked, and he was stuck in a smoking room. A smoking room?! That is worse than not having a room at all. They just shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. There are soooo many things they could have done, but they just don't seem dedicated to customer service there. I didn't even know that a smoking room was an option anymore! I thought there was no smoking indoors in Toronto?! The entire floor wreaked of cigarettes to the point it was nauseating. Now his entire suitcase smells like smoke and he refused to unpack for fear of everything he brought with him smelling of smoke.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Hilton brand before this stay, but I am surely less of a fan now. Poor quality, terrible customer service, and all and all a let down. -
Review from Wilbert O.
I stayed here for four nights. The room was good, and had everything you should expect. However I was not fully satisfied with the hotel. First, the hotel does not provide wi-fi service. I called the guest service hotline, and the lady on the other side of the phone said we did not provide wifi, and I did not like te positive. She was quite proud not to provide such service. In modersociety, guest will be more likely to bring IPad instead of clumpsy laptop. So provision of wired Internet is not enough. Second, the tv program does not cover HBO. What a disappointment.

As a Diamond member my exact experience may not be yours. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times. The hotel is awesome. Perfect location right near the subway, and walking distance from plenty of bars and restaurants. Be sure to check out the underground shops as well as the amazingly large Chinatown. When we checked in the front desk clerk was able to put us on the executive floor. The Executive lounge is the reason i come back to this hotel. While Exec lounges in the states focus on giving the least amount possible to its members the Hilton Toronto takes the other approach. They give you unlimited high end liquor along with beer. They have a decent selection of appetizers and the high end espresso machine is a treat to use. While the Hilton Chain did pull a fast on on it's elite members this year...i still maintain my status for the rare Hilton properties such as this one.
Enjoy your stay -
Review from Angela C.
if you're a Hilton Diamond (Elite) member, this Hilton location has one of the nicest Executive Lounges I have ever been in. We're talking the works - full breakfast, cappuccino machine, happy hour, beer and cheap wine, snacks, fruit, and more. The hotel itself does not have complimentary wireless internet, so you'll have to go up to the lounge to hook up for free.
The location is right in the heart of downtown, and walking distance to Rogers Centre, CN Tower, and many other things.
Great hotel, I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the neighborhood. -
Review from Matt G.
I'm a Diamond member of Hilton's club, so that might get me more than the average traveler, so read with that in mind.
Exec lounge is great, with a nice evening appetizer selection as well as a wide selection of drinks and coffee (and espresso machine). Very nice and new accommodations in this area.
Rooms were updated with very nice amenities. Newer bathroom with trendy wall paper, tiles and plumbing fixtures.
Lobby and restaurant were also nicely trendy, but not over the top. Room rate leaves a bit to be desired, but since I'm traveling on business, not as big a concern as it would be if I paid for the room myself. -
Review from Anthony R.
I feel like most of my Yelp reviews of hotels begin this way, but.. I booked the Hilton Toronto on Hotwire and it was seriously awesome. Coming in at just over $90 after taxes and fees, or about half the going rate, it was an awesome value.
Right downtown, the location was super convenient, just a few blocks from Union Station, Queen St., and right next to a subway stop. I got a room on the 29th floor and the views are great as well. I literally spent the first fifteen minutes in my room just staring out and peoplewatching.
The rest of the hotel isn't anything amazing or stand-out -- it's no boutique hotel -- but service was quick, friendly, and efficient.
My colleague also booked through Hotwire but was able to double-dip and use his HHonors membership to get a room on the executive (31st) floor, lounge access, and points towards his account. The lounge is pretty sweet and I'd say lives up to the other reviews.
Finally, WiFi was free for me, but I'm not sure if that's a result of being up on the higher floors or if that's hotel-wide.
Either way, it was a nice place to stay and a welcome change from my company's usual Ajax hotel! -
Review from Lawrence L.
Best thing about the hotel is the view - the location is such that all rooms (and the rooms are huge) have a great view of some part of the TO Skyline. Even if you're not high up enough, anybody can take in the great views on the scenic elevators. The one star comes off because of a few points
- my bathroom bathtub has whirlpool jets but apparently no controls for said jets. Nobody at the front desk had any clue what I was talking about.
- my room wasn't properly prepared with standard amenities missing when I checked in
- I was at a conference here and the conference center being in the basement above a subway line means that the room shakes every 5-10 minutes during seminars -
Review from Van D.
Got a good deal on priceline and stayed here for a couple of weekend nights. Very happy with the room. Plenty of space and room was quiet. Bathroom was nice with very good water pressure for the shower. Also, the hotel was very conveniently located downtown with access to lots of activities/restaurants. Only drawbacks were that elevator wait times were a little on the long side at times and that the free wifi in the lobby was inconsistant.

Had a fabulous stay at the Hilton. We stayed in a King bed Jr Alcove Suite. Looks exactly as in the picture on the site. The bed is big and comfy. Nice sitting area and desk. There is a scenic elevator that faces outside so you get a nice view of the outside on your way up. Tundra restaurant on site is amazing! Had drinks and sliders there for lunch and buffet breakfast the next morning. Great spread of food, highly recommend eating there. Great service overall in the hotel! Parking is $24/night.

Review from Renee E.
Our stay at the Hilton was a pleasant one. The lounge in the lobby is lovely and our room was modern, simple and clean. The location was great. We were in near proximity to pretty much everything we wanted to see while we were in Toronto. We're walkers, but if you're not, the subway is mere steps away from the front door. I got in a workout in the fitness centre, which was well-equipped and clean.
Uber bonus was the deal I got on the room via Priceline. Four stars with a two star price tag was a deal I can get behind and left us with more spending money to play with. -
Review from Emilie S.
If I'm ever back in Toronto, I will stay here again. The front desk service was outstanding and they were very knowledgeable about the area. They gave us a map of downtown and tickets for a free gift at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The room was clean. The price was great. It's in the entertainment district, and walking distance to shopping on Yonge Street, the Air Canada Center and CN Tower. However, they don't have private parking. The garage is shared, but if you ask the front desk, they can get you an "unlimited" access pass for $30 instead of paying the $24 a day permanent parking (7 am to 6 pm which would have been $48 for us arriving at noon and leaving at noon...)

Review from Rob P.
Super deja vu the second I walked into this hotel... it turns out I stayed in this hotel for business 5 years ago, and didn't realize I had booked myself there again!
The hotel was great. Perfect location right near the subway, and walking distance from plenty of bars and restaurants. When we checked in the front desk clerk was able to put us on the 31st floor, so we had a nice view of the CN Tower.
Parking was a little pricey here, but that's standard for downtown Toronto. If you're here on a week day, go a block north and a block east and park at the courthouse for $2.50/half hour rather than the hotel's $4.50/half hour. Weekends are as cheap as you're gonna get at $24 for the whole weekend if you self park.
Oh yeah, and I scooped this hotel for a Friday and Saturday night for only $70/night + taxes and fees on Priceline! -
Review from Ben S.
I agree with Angela C. the executive lounge was great, and there are great views from the lounge. From my experience the service was good, nothing stands out as excellent but nothing stand out as poor either.
The room themselves were nicely appointed, my girlfriend liked that there was a little hilton rubber ducky in the bathroom. -
Review from Steve S.
Being a business and leisure traveler I am going to occasionaly post reviews of 'business' type hotels for those that do travel on business.
-----------------------------------------
Based on your corporate rate the Hilton could be a very good option with an excellet location in downtown Toronto. It is only 10 minute walk the CN tower, very close to Rogers Arena, and access to a lot of various office and goverment buildings within minutes.
The hotel itself has recently been refurbished in its public areas and most of the floors. As of March 2007 - not all of the floors have been refurbished so be sure to ask for a room or a floor that has.
The hotel has 3 restaurants and a bar - but 2 of the restaurants have bars, plus there is a Ruths Chris Steakhouse on-site just outside the hotel's convention area.
Rooms
-------
The newly refurbished rooms are very well appointed. Pictures have been posted below. However, staying on the 26th floor I was quite suprised at the amount of city noise that I could hear in the room - even at night. This may be due to the close proximity of other buildings being close and the 'funneling' of the noise upwards. However, I stay in many large cities and rarely experience this problem as I usually request a high floor for this specific reason.
Elevators
---------
FAST FAST FAST!!! That is all that needs to be said!
Parking
-------
As with any major metropolitan city parking is expensive - regardless of city. Parking is around $30CAD per night. -
Review from Johnny R.
NICE. I really liked the hotel, the rooms were top notch. I had a super view of the needle tower and the Toronto skyline. Hotel is centrally located. I would say that this hotel is classy.

Nicest hotel in Toronto's business district. Great modern architecture and look, comfortable rooms, and walking distance to offices and other tourist sites in the downtown area of Toronto. Stayed here once due to a great weekend deal and would stay again if I had to.

The Hilton is in a great location with nice room accommodations and an amazing executive lounge. The rooms are refurbished with nice touches and cozy and comfy. The check in line can be a killer when all you want to do is get your bags in your room and head out on the town. For all of the possibilities downtown the Hilton is a safe and boring choice, but you get the points and convenience which are huge for me.

Review from Adam B.
I'm not a big fan of this hotel. Stayed here once and found it too blah. Plusses were access to a major gym a couple of blocks away and also the recycling bin for papers in each room. Nice touch. Bad? Internet connection is lousy. Almost to the point of being horrific. Gym in the hotel itself is smallish and usually crowded even at 5AM! Really! Restaurants are pricey and since one is a Ruths Chris, why would I pick that when I got two in LA? I'd rather take the block walk to the Keg. Also, there's usually a lovely assortment of bums lying outside at all hours. That's just disgusting and since the other hotels I've stayed at in TO don't have that problem, it's kind of inexcusable. That alone, made me switch hotels to the Metropolitan for my last trip. Not worth it.

Stayed here on a Hotwire rate. Aging architecture has been updated in the interior to current style and front desk, room service, cleanliness were all professional. Has gym up to corporate standards. Breakfast looked really expensive, if well made. Would come back.

I've stayed here twice, and both times have been great. Excellent location (right in the entertainment district,) close to great restaurants, shops, and the Eaton Centre. Would recommend this place to anyone in from out of town, who wants to be in the heart of the city. Rooms are clean, modern, and quiet. The beds are extremely comfortable. They have 24 hour room service, and a lobby bar that's opened till 12:00am. Front desk staff are very friendly, and check in and out was a very speedy process.

Just finished a 3 night stay at this property and enjoyed it very much. Our room was on the 27th floor and had a great view of downtown. We were in town to attend a convention and we were able to walk to the convention center in about 15 minutes. We did dine at the Tundra restaurant and the staff was very accomodating and service oriented. The menu selection was small, but sufficient. As an Honors member, I would have hoped that the in-room internet would have been complimentary, but no go. I would have given 5 stars for that. Overall, we would stay here again due to outstanding service, location and value.
